I am going to cut mine up then. Some anyway, I have one that looks like its 3 feet long. The one that doesn't look so good also, maybe I'll get it to root by doing it that way. After seeing what everybody else got, I feel like I didn't pick mine very well, now I have to get those too!
Hey Nan, what is that one in the middle? Got a have it! And Plantmom, what's that one at the bottom with little leaves. Gotta have that one too! Addicted? not me!

OT: David Liddle Order On The Way
the little one of Nans is H retusa. A very cool looking hoya. I dont know what plantmoms cutting is.
I have David to thank for the Aquastorm cloning machine. I was going to buy the EZ Clone system, but came across David's posts about the Aquastorm. This is the first time I've used it and I'm hoping for good results. I did as he suggested and cut the cuttings in as many pieces as I could. There were only 2 that I left intact: the poor "dead" one of course and one other. I will say the machine is very simple to set up and use. I bought the unit and supplies from New World Hydroponics and the owner is super nice and told me exactly what to do and, most importantly, didn't try to sell me things I didn't need. If anyone wants the info, send me a D-Mail.
Dawn, the hoya you asked about is hellwigiana PNG.
I love Nan's retusa. I guess that one will have to go on the list. :)
Retusa doesnt seem to be an easy hoya to come by though I find it to be a rather easy one to grow. I just happened to luck out and found mine on ebay last year but I cant recall who I bought it from.
H. linearis is another one that is near about impossible to find that i'd love to have. I obught cuttings of it on ebay as well last year but managed to kill them all!!

Did yall buy the fertilizer and all the bells and whistles they were selling or just the cloning machine and use your own rooting hormones with water?
Please keep us updated on your results with the cloning machine. I have wanted one forever but naturally the one I was looking at cost hundreds of dollars. Still temped to ask for one as a Christmas gift.
Susan
The 1 I'm looking at only cost $150.00.

open this link and click on the picture of the aquastorm. This guy sells these units for $150. I first saw him selling them on ebay and that's how I ended up buying mine but it wasnt directly through ebay.
I called him and he let me have the unit for the ebay price of $120 but the ebay units dont come with a heater. I didnt need a heater anyway as I use my unit inside one of the gh's.
I dont remember the mans name but he was very helpful and told me how to set up and operate the unit and he wasnt trying to push his products on me. He suggested some nutrients and such that I could use but he never tried to push his on me.
You'll have to do a lot of reading about the aquastorm but the way this machine functions you dont need a rooting hormone . All you need is a good fungicide,I use hydroguard and some liquid nutrients. I use dyna-gro grow .
So far i've put in about 9 varieties of hoya cuttings to be rooted and have had a 100% success rate.

I have a quesiton. Once my cuttings have rooted and are ready to pot up; Most of the ones I rec'd are 1 cutting. I rec'd a couple that I could make multiple cuttings of. The ones I could not I guess I'll pot up individually. Will they fill out? Do I let this one cutting get long enough to cut and root and stick that cutting in the same pot? How do you go from one little cutting to full looking pot?
Thanks all,
Dawn
Dawn...the cutting will grow into a full plant. Then you can take more cuttings. It is all about time and patience!!! Good luck...sounds like you are doing well!!!
Carol
Thanks Carol. I am excited! Glad to here all is ok for you over there. Patience is a virtue is it not!?!
Dawn
Thanks all, for the compliments on Retusa. (Sorry for delay...don't get online on weekends.)
I agree that it's not an easy one to find, and when found (probably due to that fact!) it's 'kinda pricey', LOL!!
The photo shows 2 cuttings of H. retusa, but they were nice ones, indeed!
Retusa was one of my *must haves*....so I ordered 2 cuttings.
I potted the other two in soil, but placed the retusa cuttings in a vase of water....and one has roots already!
I'm glad to hear it's a good grower, dmichael!
Well, the one I thought I'd lose (h. multiflora) is doing well and has roots and I lost h. odettea. All the leaves have shrivelled, crisped and fell off. Not bad though to lose only one. All but that one have roots (all were put in water) I will pot them up tonight if I can, but most likely will be this weekend. Now I know what those clips are for. I have to get some with some sticks to keep the plant up right. I have not thrown h. odettea away, I stuck in dirt now hoping against hope that it may live. Who knows....
Dawn
Dawn....scroll up a bit on this (just about 'smack-dab' in the middle) thread to Joanne's post on rooting her 'stick' (LOL!)
Maybe that would work for your leafless cutting, too?!

Thanks Nan. I am going to try that tonight!
OK, I'm doing what epiaddict did. But I used superthrive (its what I had on hand) you reckon that will be good enough or should I get something else to put in the water?
pdoyle, I think ST will be great. Let us know what happens. -joanne
Well, h. odettea is still a quesiton. I put in a sealed container in a warm place with water and ST. I changed the water every few days (when it looked cloudy) About a week ago, i noticed something (roots?) where the leaves usually are. So, I kept it in this container until 2 days ago. I didn't notice any more growth. Now, I don't know if it was me hoping so hard that this cutting made it, I was seeing things or it was really trying to grow. But to not see any more growth gave me doubts. So I have now taken the two pieces that looked like they had growth and put in dirt and the other pieces I have put in perlite with plastic wrap on top. What have I got to lose at this point? Still very happy with my order.
I have noticed that the multiflora is taking the longest to root. I looked at it last night and I "think" I finally see a leeeetle tiny nub on the stem. It is still a healthy looking stem with perky leaves so I know its alive. I wish it would hurry up!
