I have been wondering about the lack of mail and when I did get some it was for some one elses not even in this town..
Post office informed me today that some one is stealing mail mostly in the area where I live. grrrrr, i know I should have received some staements am hardly ever late but do depend on them since I never know what may have been added or even if I owe anything. Now I have to call to explaine why I am tardy.
Sheila your photos are just havenly, !!
Told you I had brain freeze!! Thanks Maria. Can you have your postoffice hold your mail for you and pick it up every other day or so? Best way to stop theft, If they get any bills they can pick up your account numbers and that could mean real trouble.

Rats, just talked to my DB... actually 2 of them... Bobby is in Kissimmee with our youngest brother so obviously he's not coming tomorrow. Monday is the schedule at the moment, which is subject to change.
Man, I'd give a lot for some ice cream or a piece of cake or pie. I don't usually have a sweet tooth but occasionally I just get the WANTS!
darius-I assume your brother will drive your truck? I was trying to picture you hanging onto the back of a motorcycle after your colonoscopy! Sorry he's not on his way. I still have some Starbuck's java chip ice cream left that I can share - it's my caffeine fix too.
sarv-I don't dress up... and I dragged out my sewing machine after the last shopping trip. Sometimes I like the styles ( I liked the old Ralph lauren English countryside, tweedy tailored type stuff) and sometimes - like now- it seems there's only ugly and horrendous. Even if you're tall and thin, today's styles are NOT elegant or flattering, in my opinion. I plan to make some clothes...we'll see. I don't know what I'd do on short notice. Nice black trousers, I guess and a blouse. Dull.
Maria- Not good news about your mail disapppearing! I hope they get to the bottom of that quickly! That's a serious offense.
Kooger-I hope you look back on this job loss as the beginning of something much better! I know I wouldn't survive long under those conditions. You deserve better.
m5-I would LOVE a peach. I didn't have a single good peach this year...never got to an orchard or farmstand with peaches (that would be south of here probably)
Okay, hafta run again, hope to check back. ~~~~~~~~
Dmc... yes my brother will drive my truck, it will be a problem with his long legs so Maybe I can empty out some of the junk behind the seat so it can go all the way back.
Cyber ice cream doesn't do the trick.
Second thoughts. Maria, there is an electronic gizmo that lets you know when your mailbox has been opened, useful for retrieving the mail right away, and also spotting someone getting into it that shouldn't be. Can't think off hand who has them but I'll do a search and Dmail you if I find it.
I just ate one of the peaches...one day short of perfect, but juicy and luscious. Put heavy cream on it too. Mmmmmmmmmmm.
I called my visa, and nothing has been added I do not know about but of course I am late, transmitted payment right away, at least they know about it
Peaches this year have been wonderful, I have a peeler that wotks like magic on them and also tomatoes.t is just a funny little peeler for crate and barrel
If a peach is really ripe, you can use the back of a knife, not the sharp side, and glide it over the skin. With just a little pressure, it loosens the skin, and you can then pull it off gently . Not a good method if you are doing lots of peaches, but if you are just eating one, it works nicely.
Easier yet just to eat the skin. And sorry, but the rhubarb crisp was just finished off with ice cream.
DH is off to the Netherlands for 5 days. I still have the guests until Monday morning, but they are OK. Good to have around. Just don't have so much time to check in and am still trying to find time to get the Japan report up. I'll probably get a chance to work on that Monday once everyone clears out of here.
Hope you all have a good night. I'm not likely to get back here again.
Ann
Guess I don't like skins on anything what ever it is for, vegetables to fruit to meat, so please, ha ha ha, peel the grapes for me
Hi all,
Well, can't say that I'd go quite THAT far, Maria! I don't insist on peeled grapes, but absolutely will not eat peaches with the skins on. Cannot stand that fuzzy texture! Mostly I buy nectarines and avoid the issue entirely.
V-ann, thanks for the cyber treat. It sounded yummy. I may get some baking done in the next day or two and if so, will be happy to share. On the other hand, I can certainly empathize with darius ----- cyber treats just don't suffice in the face of a serious craving!
Bonnie, you ask why I didn't tell you not to overdo earlier?? Perhaps because I knew that you wouldn't pay any attention anyway??!! Seriously, I'd hate to see you get run down from working too hard and then fall prey to any of those nasty germs.
So sorry for the mail pilfering in your area, Maria. That would have me pretty paranoid in a big hurry. I don't have checks or anything like that mailed here, just in case, but haven't had any problems so far. My DH's eldest daughter e-mailed us once to check on whether or not we'd received "snail mail" from her as they had just found out that their postman had gone a bit strange and had been stuffing mail into the dense privet hedges on his route instead of delivering it.
kooger, what can I say? I'm both sorry and glad that you're through with that job. I hope that you don't suffer any financial problems because of this, but it really sounds like a job from h**l and I think you're better off out of there. Hope you get rid of that bug ASAP too.
Molly, hang in there! I hope that you won't have to work for that guy very long, but it probably was a better option than doing all that travelling to work for relatives (which usually carries its own special set of nightmare problems!)
sarv, sorry you had such a hard time with the shopping expedition. I usually avoid it if at all possible. When my clothes are literally falling apart, I'll grudgingly make the pilgrimage, but I swear those changing cubicles are set up to show us at our absolute worst. I don't need to be any more depressed than the normal (for me) amount! Thanks for the info about the squash and pumpkin tending to cross. Perhaps that's what happened here. I assumed that I'd gotten the seeds mixed up, but now I think that perhaps I'm growing squmpkins out there. They are a bit strange looking.
Sorry folks, I'd meant to respond to each and every one of you individually, but find that I'm getting awfully tired, so will have to just ~~~~~~~~ to everyone that I haven't addressed by name and will try to do better tomorrow.
Goodnight Gracie.
Here's tomorrow's thread ---- see you over there.

Hi everyone. The day is about over and it was a busy and good one. First the wind had come up overnight and cleared out some of the smoke. Good for us here but not for the guys fighting the fires. I took Fritz for a walk just after daylight, and then we left to take my hubby to Boise to catch a plane. Denver, Frankfort, Munich, Romania. And then about 5 or 6 hours by car to get to his destination with our missionary family.
After he was at the airport I drove toward home and stopped to deliver plants to Ponditis who lives right on the Idaho/Oregon border. She gave me a yucca plant that she has been growing for me, and her DH dug up several more little ones for me to give to a neighbor. They were in what is going to be a driveway. Pondy gave me some other plants for my neighbor who has a lot of shade in her gardens, and I also came home with a Louisiana Iris which I am not sure will survive here but it will go in a sheltered spot, and my first hosta! I hadn't been to her house for a couple of years and they have installed a beautiful pond with a waterfall and lots of very colorful Koi since I was there. Wow, it is beautiful and wouldn't you know, I didn't have my camera with me.
Fritz and I took another walk this evening after I fed the horses, just as the sun was going down, mostly because he and I had both been mostly sedentary all day and needed to move.
Molly, yes, good find on the bar stools. I can just picture all 4 stools and all those plants in your car! All you need is a shelf on one side of the orchid house, but don't make it look too much like a finished thing, after all, you don't have a patio, you have an orchid house, so it should look like a potting bench.
Sarv, I sympathize with you on the hunt for clothes. I hate clothes shopping and don't like to go anywhere that requires dressing up.
Maria, I sure hope you don't have trouble with the missing statements, but I think I would contact all of the senders and explain the situation just in case.
Kooger, I'm sorry to hear that you are without a job, but THAT job sounds like it would have been really stressful to keep. Did I understand that you were required to sit and listen to a phone ringing for 101 minutes! Ugh. And you have a plan for the future, so that is good. Are you going to go for the CDL?
Meezers, I also have sedum blooming. I have 3 kinds, one has varagated leaves and whiteish flowers, then I have autum joy which is pink and probably the most common of the larger types, and another one with red stems, green leaves and redish pink blooms. The bees love them! One of mine had the hollow center last year, I thought it was from too much water, but all of them are upright this year. I will have to remember to give them a trim in July. I've got another plant that gets the bald spot in the center, bachelor buttons, and I think it needs the haircut treatment too. But that one also needs a sunnier location. I'm gonna go take your garden walk now and then it will be time to sleep.
So, I will say goodnight everyone.
Well, they didn't hold me hostage at the pool school, life just got in the way. DGD and I headed out to Louisville this morning, to attend the pool school. Instructions on closing the pool for the winter. That resulted in a purchase of chemicals and "stuff" to the tune of $130.00. Stopped at McDonalds on the way home for lunch, then a trip to the grocery, as DM had forgotten to add a few items to her list on Wednesday. When we got home, DGD and I did some craft work. Am making a bird bath for a neighbor for her birthday, which is Tuesday. Got a lot accomplished. Took a rest later, not a nap just lying across the bed and resting. Then shower and out to eat. Good Chinese!! Home and worked on the craft project again, plus giving Mr. B his daily car ride. I know that is not exercise, but he loves to "go see grandmother (my DM) who is about 1/4 mile up the road. He wants to ride instead of walk, so does that mean that he will grow up to be a "fat adult?"
M5, we have no new babies (foal, or pupppies) but big belllies all around.
Shopping for clothes is an exercise in frustration, and embarassment. All the styles are hidious, and I just refuse to wear anything like that. I am petite, and to find anything that doesn't look like it is made for a 15 year old is hard. When I was dressing to go out to eat, DGD was inspecting everything I put on. I call her my personal "fashion police". I did buy one thing this year that has become indespensible. It is a camisole type thing, which I wear under a blouse. It is not too low, and is very fashionable.
Sorry for those of you (Sarv) who had the miserable weather.
Sarv, that is a cushaw. Be watchful, as they don't always keep well. They are not good frozen, as they tend to taste "watery" when thawed. I have never canned them, as I wasn't sure how that would turn out. It is better, just cut and used as soon as you can.
Molly, I can just picture you tooling down the highway with that load in your car. Did you have the top up or down? I agree, just build a shelf in the orchid house and use the stools there.
kooger, I don't know how you lasted as long as you did at that job. Sounds like something from communist countries. Another door will open.
Maria, the pics were beautiful. Sure hope that you are on the top of your illness, and it sounds like it. I didn't sense from meeting you that you were a Type A personality. A multi time elevator button pusher you!!
dmc, wish I had the patience to sew. I used to, but haven't for a long time. By the time I was finished with a project, was so tired of it that I didn't enjoy it.
Viann, glad that the visitors are being helpful.
Mary, so you got the DH off on his trip. How long a drive did you have? Fritz sounds like a wonderful dog.
McCool, what did you say you had growing in the garden, squmpkins? Will you eat them or carve them for Halloween? LOL. Gardens, sometimes just give us surprises. I didn't have any oddities this year, but have had in the past. Even if you had warned me, I probably would have done just what I did do. Work.
Hope, glad to see you around, cute kitties, did I miss the "big event"? When were they born? Cute anyway.
lauriewilson, hope you get the hostas moved without too much stress to them or to you. How is the pond coming along? The fish?, or is that cc?
Well, since I am getting senile, guess I will go to bed. They day has been long, but productive, and DGD has promised to "help" me clean tomorrow. So have something to look forward to. Of course she expects to be paid for her labor.
Where is I01? Don't think she has posted all day. Hope everything is okay. Maybe just spending quality time with DH.
Well goodnight everybody. Hope you have a good restful night.
