To be honest McCool I did not like the EB what ever I planted in them did not do well at allas did what I planted in the normal way that includes tomatoes, peppers and summer squash which did not grow a single squash. The tomatoes I posted were not from EB though there were a few from that miserable plant..
Also it needed watering more then the ones in the ground. I think that is so because the heat of this summer nearly boiled the boxes.
I will give up a vegetable garden next year simply too much work for me at this stage of my life, just will stick to flowers, even that is quite a job for me now,
Coffee and ..... for Tuesday, September 5th
Good evening all, this day has been one of complete inactivity, other than the run to the store for milk, and to the library for reading material for DM. Vegged on the couch this afternoon, alternating between a throw, and then throwing it off. Have had a temp today, so don't know what is going on. DH said tonight that the hunters will show up soon, with all the honking going on!!
Maria, glad that you got a good report, and that you are on the mend. Hope that this is the entire winter illness early!!
Sommermoon, no, I don't add meat to the sauce. If wanted, I add it later. This homemade sauce is so much better than using canned store bought ingredients, that I can eat it with a spoon from the jar, not even heated. I have about a 1/2 bushel of green and red peppers, and I will make another batch just as soon as I feel human again.
Darius hope all goes well with the grapes, are all of them doomed to be made into wine?
M5, DH's collection of models rivals the horse trophies that used to adorn our home. We even had a "trophy room" at the other house, and when we moved, I told DH that the trophies needed to go into storage, as he never dusted them, only would enter the room occasionally and admire them. He was quite successful at his sport, but there was little money in it, and only the trophies to show. The prize money was spent on more horse feed and vet bills, not to mention the horse trailers and trucks necessary to transport the creatures.
Ann, glad that the eye prescriptions hadn't changed. They usually do. I have an appointment the last of the month to get mine checked. I sure hope the macular degeneration has not worsened, but I fear that it has. Still waiting for the point in time that laser surgery will be an option. Not to change anything, but to halt the progression of the disease.
Mary, sorry to hear that Fritz is a barker. Nothing more annoying than a barking dog or a crying baby. Don't mean that as cruel, but those are the 2 things that get on the nerves in a hurry here. One of Mr. B's daughters paid a visit today, and what a sweetheart she is. She has Mr. B' laid back manner, and is cute as a button. She is about 6 months old, and has the owner wrapped around her paw. And BTW the designer dogs will be born shortly, do I have any offers of homes for any of them? You know the ones I am talking about the half beagle, half Jack Russels. You could use them as rabbit dogs, or squirrel dogs, and maybe even a lap dog.
Bal, you never cease to amaze me. A fence, that looks more like a work of art. Is it really gonna be a fence?
Sarv, used your neighbor's pie crust recipe tonight in making the peach cobbler, and it was really good. I am not a "sweet eater", but if I do say so, it was really good. Only thing bette would have been a scoop of vanilla ice cream on it. Didn't have any in the house. Your DM sounds like a very well rounded person, can cook, keep house, and is good at games. So glad that you weren't injured in the collision. Make sure that if you do have any signs of stiffness, or soreness, that you take care of it immediately. Nothing worse than back or neck problems.
McCool, so very glad that you and Viann have reached an agreement with the thread starting for the rest of September. Wish I were closer to you, and I could take care of making something from your tomato harvest. Why don't you send them to me, and I will make spaghetti sauce and mail to you when done?
Ves, DS brought me some apples tonight that were given to him by a neighbor. Don't know what I will do with them, maybe an apple crisp, or cobbler. Maybe just freeze them to use this winter when our pallates need a change.
Molly, Glad that Jeremy and GF seem to be enjoying each other's company. That sounds like one ready made family, but that may not be a bad thing. Wow, sounds really hot there. Our temps are moderating, only in the upper 70's today. Nights are really getting pretty chilly.
I01, I haven't been on here all that much today, but haven't experienced any problems. So it was back to work for the DH, and back to your routine today. Sorry that you didn't get any "quality time" with DH for the long weekend. But just think, when is it you are going to the beach? That will be a treat for sure. Wish I could join you.
Well, hope that I haven't missed anybody, but then again there is that possibility, I didn't speak to Hope, sure hope that your weather is cooling down and that you are more comfortable now. Just think, it won't be long before we are complaining about the cold!!
Well, gonna get to bed, as tomorrow is grocery/errand day. I just hate that it rolls around so often. For me, I could go to the grocery once a month, but it is the DM and DMIL who forget to put things on their lists, and it always is a necessity that I go once a week. A drug store visit is essential, as they won't fill prescriptions until about 30 days from the last refill. When they know that they take the same meds, why does 3 or 4 days make a difference? Just another way to pull into the store, hoping that you will buy other things while you are there.
Well hope you all have a good night, and sleep soundly, awake refreshed and ready to tackle a new day.
Good night all.
DG wouldn't open for me earlier but it's ok now.
I am still feeling the effects of weeding the iris bed yesterday - took abt 4.5 hours!! I hadn't touched it since they quite blooming. May have lost one or two dwarfs that were too wet under all those weeds. Dummy me! Remind me to get Preen down early next year. I picked the tomatoes and raspberries and spent 3 hours on DG and internet also yesterday. That was a great day! I wanted to bake something but no yeast in the house and ran out of milk too.
DH listed our shop bldg for sale on Fri and tonight the realtor brought an offer - our asking price! Wow, we're kinda blown away with that. They also want to close in 30 days. I think they knew that DH was unsure abt selling and was probably going to take it off the market so they offered the full price. It's a good thing to sell it tho, taxes and insurance aren't cheap and as long as we have no truck now, there's no reason to have a truck shop that holds 4 trucks, plus an office on the side. We may sell the house too and move to Larchwood, which is 10.5 miles north and will take my commute down to 16-17 miles. That would be great. Besides, our shopping and entertainment is almost all in Sioux Falls too. We shall see.....
Bah humbug at work today - I managed to get another Work Performance - this is #6 and #7 is automatic termination. I was talking to a gal beside me, not much but apparently supervisor saw me. Never mind the fact that I was on HOLD for 101 mins but I'm not allowed to do anything or talk to anyone while on HOLD. Ridiculous!! These calls are supposed to be identical to hearing peeps calls - now how many of you would do nothing while on hold for 101 mins? The caller told me she vacuumed and dusted and finished her dishes while we were holding but I can't even say a few words to the gal next to me? grrrr! I can't see me staying here for too long, too many ridiculous rules. Rules and me don't get along well - ever the rebel! lol
Bed is calling, sorry, just skim read today since it's so late.
sorry you feel rotten Bonnie, I know that feeling
