Small drill press needed for jewelry making...

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Mods, please move this post if it is not in the
appropriate place. :-)

I'm looking for a tabletop drill press for my craft
room. Nothing giant, no floor standing model needed,
just a drill I can use for various craft needs, with the
main use to drill holes in glass pieces right now.

Does anyone have a small multi-purpose drill, and
if so, could you tell me what brand and the pros / cons
that come with it?

Many thanks!

How about using a Dremel tool (very versatile, lots of attachments) and getting the drill press "attachment?" http://www.mytoolstore.com/dremel/drillprs.html Probably available at a local hardware store.

Wuvie
Harbor Freight near 21st and Sheridan usually has the small tabletop drill presses. 918-836-4450. You can also search their web site for availability.

My experience with Harbor Freight is that they are often one use tools. I have not had very good luck at all.

Rocco,

Many thanks! I didn't even think of them! Good idea!

Over the past many years I've come to find Harbor Freight as a good source
for tools when you can't quite afford the top of the line. For example, I wanted
a chipper / shredder for the various tree limbs that fall each autumn. The top
of the line models were out of my budget, so I 'settled' for one at Harbor Freight.
$120.00 five years ago and still chewing up branches with the best of them.

This is but one of the good tools I've purchased from them. When I first met
hubby and he mentioned H.F.Tools, I cringed. But we've spent many a penny
at H.F. Tools and we have yet to have one single item break, fail to work or
otherwise.

If you use them properly, care for them and perform routine maintenance as you
would any other tool, they should be just fine short of a manufacturing bloop. In
such a case, you would simply return it to HF.

:-)
