OMG tir....we are related....amazing; i hate games....even the educational kind as i don't feel like i am doing something worth while.....like sitting on my rearend and surfing the web is....(that is if i don't find a great 'something' on the web)....as a kid....my family loved board games...not me....hated them!!! i have to feel like it is something productive like looking at someones trashy feedback on ebay.....or better yet following some of the thread s here(very worthwhile)VBG i was following one where someone was askign for constructive criticism on this forum and a user whom thinks quite highly of herself and her capabilities and doesn't hold back anything ....including niceties; well, she was talking her idea up blah blah blah blah blah.....and another user basically said ...'well i will take my 'useless idea'(for lack of a better phrase so that i don't give anything away) and crawl back under a rock..... ; did high and mighty user apologize or anything noooo....and continues with her/his grandiousity and the other useer disappeared....grrrrrrr (NOW THAT IS PRODUCTIVITY!!!!)(HEHE)
OK so your bored...what do you do, what sites to visit??
I recently did the free match/personality/whatever profile on eharmony.com. It takes forever and I figured it was sort of like free psychoanalysis. You get to pick where you want your "match" to come from so I picked "the world". I got back FIVE guys. That can't be a good sign. FIVE??? In the whole WORLD??? So what exactly are they saying???
I tried anagrammatic, which is like online Scrabble, for a while but eventually lost interest and ended up back with the windmills. See, the windmill guy had some really juicy negative feedback and I read EVERY bit of it. He's even been accused of sending pornographic emails to buyers who weren't satisfied with their windmill and left negative feedback. It was good stuff. You should check him out Sticks!
Incidentally, I just had a conversation with my mother (WIRE HANGERS?!?!?!) about family board games. She was one of the few parents who played Hi Ho Cherrio competitively. She says I was just a sore loser but I was like what...three years old? And now, there are five men in the whole world that I'm compatible with so I'm thinking eventual senility may be a good option for me.
Thanks for the compliment Tir. Actually I just started writing for a website (under an alias). It's one of those touristy New Orleans/Vampire/Voodoo/Swamp Monster sites. I'm in charge of scarey swamp plant stories. I'm not even from Louisiana but...whatever.
nema...you did make me laugh...maybe our chanangins(sp i am sure) will give you material to talk about on your site....(altho i really don't think you need any at all)...(grin).....
don't you just love mothers.....wire hangers....except it was my dad that was like that....military....thank god he mellowed; i am sure he wanted to murder me as i am a cancer and a real free spirit and pig; he is an aquarias and a perfectionist born from a disfunctional family with his father raising he and his brother with no mom during the depression.....geez no wonder i am screwed up..
i may need to ask for the windmill guys name....what is even weirder is that i live in the windmill area.....dusty blowy west texas.....hes probably from here...
i was also thinking about another thing i got involved in here at daves....but it is a person that we thought was a she....but is really a he...we think who was a regular poster ....has a years membership and has disappeared off teh face of the earth.....WELL...then someone did a google search on this persons name which is sort of unusual...and seems they are kinda posting there very actively....then someone else asked if i had read the 'diary'.....i couldn't find a diarry on the website....anyway, this person said the diary said this person is on his last days and is dying or died....when i tryed to email the person or persons involved they haven't answered my emails...when i tryed to ask where the diary was so i could read for my own eyes the person who posts every day on the same threads as me...well that person wont respond to my dmails....and then i asked her in a thread to email me...and still no answer....; i just wanna make sure the person is all right....as they were here all the time...
Nema, what's the windmill guy's eBay ID? I get a kick out of juicy feedback, too. :)) The other day I found a seller who leaves really funny feedback. Wish I'd made a note of the name to pass it on to you.
I didn't keep his name but if you search for windmills, he'll come up. He is in Texas. I remember that. And he's selling actual windmills, not decorative ones. Search for windmills and sort by highest price first and you'll get him probably. Evidently he's one of those people that if he gets negative feedback or any kind of complaint, he goes bananas.
Sticks, about that other adventure... You lost me but let me know how it turns out anyway.
we're nuts.....too funny:)
Sticks,
Oh my gosh, you HATED games?! You are my twin!!!! I was known to all my friends and their families as the kid who HATES games! I don't know what it was about it but I just hated the games at parties, etc. I even offered to clean my friends room once to get out of playing games. Yeah. I'm weird. =) I'd play some games: Hi-Ho Cherry Oh fan here or like go-fish.....but it was always hard to get me interested in many other games. I know what you mean...you don't feel so guilty just looking at other sites but if you are "playing" you have to start evaluating yourself. And who wants to do that? =)
Nemat,
LOL on not even being from N.O.! Way to go on your new venture then! You will do awesome.
Isn't it crazy??? The site owners are sooo serious about all this and the hits are in the millions per MONTH. Globally! What IS it about New Orleans and Louisiana that just makes people nuts? Trust me. Plastic Mardi Gras beads, booze and barf are the chief exports. I live, TRULY, in the swamps and I've yet to see anything more sinister than the occasional alligator. And even they will do backflips for a Sta-Puffed marshmallow so how mysterious is THAT???
That's why I'm writing under an alias. I don't want to be cyber-linked to the vampire summoning, bewitching, evil swamp begonia for life. It's just all too stoooopid.
Now the giant, plant eating bugs...that's a REAL curse!
Here's a site I visit from time to time:

Joni, this is a great thread! I'm certainly not bored now....but January, February and March normally drive me crazy. I'm so ready for gardening by then and I can't find enough things to do or look at to keep my mind off of it. LOL I'll be looking this thread up right after Christmas!
thanks brin....but i go nuts all year around....really nuts come winter....:)
sorry to hear about your hubbies potential surgery!!!
Oh thanks Joni, but it really isn't that big of a deal. He had the same surgery for a right hernia back in 2001 and did great. It only slows him down for just a bit. And he's ready for this to get done.....he's afraid he might miss out on something! LOL
Okay, you people are great. And I got a lesson plan out of this thread on my very first visit. My middle school students have to write directions, step-by-step, on how to tie shoelaces. I give their directions to someone else who tries to follow them. (I hate to tell you but I have middle-schoolers who, thanks to Velcro, do not know how to tie shoes, but then they are also the ones who answered "Eve" when I asked the name of the First Lady.) I went to the shoe-lace tying site and, good grief, there are 17 ways listed on just one page! I'll be back to this forum/thread.
Vickie, you should watch the Jay Walking segment on The Tonight Show. It's scary that even teachers can't answer simple questions that should be common knowledge. You see college students who make you fear for the future of our country! Truly embarrassing....
BORED? i cant keep up with everything! I belong to several online garden sites where all summer I have had time to read, but hardly time to post. Im still tending several gardens while trying to whip the house back into shape so i can stand to be inside again!!!
Then ebay and the lily auction!!!! oh my!
I also got a new female mainecoon kitten(for my male)and have been training her and keeping her from eating the canary.
Not to mention that i still have 2boyz in school 7th and 4th grade, they keep me jumping also
Oh ya and then there is my car im sanding on while the motor is being rebuilt, cant wait to get started painting her.
so i have lil time to be bored-maybe late January-but then i will be into daylily seedlings LOL
vicki....that is hysterical....EVE..i guess she really was the first lady(grin)
notmartha....if it is legal can you post the gardening websites.....if not can you dmail me them??
New kitty, Dori??? Oh, my! :D
Nema, I also have a laptop and my Sarah acts just like your dog when she hears the lid close beep. So intuitive.
I went through a game phase last Winter. Then there was a gardening site search phase.
I was bored yesterday and DG was acting up so I started a photo blog. I had only seen a few blogs and they were of little interest but one for my pics seemed like a good idea. I'll be adding to it almost daily until the pics run out or my interest fades. Which ever comes first, lol. It's for my insect and flower pics. You are welcome to visit, leave comments if you wish. Click on the images for a full size view. http://bugsnbuds.blogspot.com/

Spend your boredom on me! Got an hour to surf? How about looking for some wholesale reproduction antique jewelry sites for me? I am once again going into the antique mall/show business as a sideline to teaching, hoping this time to generate some income so I can retire AGAIN. I've spent hours and found only one company with merchandise that I can afford. (I do have wholesale and business licenses.) I already have boxes of authentic period jewelry but it's pricey because, once a piece of Victorian or art deco jewelry is gone, it's not readily replaceable. I mark all reproduction pieces honestly. One or two lines of beautiful pieces can pay my space rent and satisfy the person who wants the look but not the collectible. I have already set up an account with jewelrymine but need at least one more. How's this? If you find a site and I order from it, I'll treat you to a piece of their jewelry.
Sounds like fun, Vickie. :)
vickie....i own an antique store....but for the life of me can't think of any repro sites....have you tried ebay?? alot of business people list stuff on their to promote their businesses.....i will keep my brain thinking about that....
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=wholesale+antique+jewelry+reproduction+sites&btnG=Google+Search
Googling from Iowa. Don't know if this is anything you would want to look at. Just thought a sampling of states might be fun.
Thanks for tips. I'm still looking. My dream company would be a family-owned business that has the molds of originals pieces or some company in Taiwan that has figured it all out. I've certainly seen some strange jewelry in my searches! Somebody buys it???
Do you have any pictures of the sort of jewelry you like to deal in? I don't know much about the reprocutions.

littlepath
I think I need a dose of Eric. He just tickles me.
http://emotioneric.com (your link would work if you put the h t t p : / / in front of it).
I have found some new entertainment. If you go to google, then go to "more" then go to "even more" near the search line you can find a ton of toys. There is a rss reader for blogs, put in a search and choose some blogs and it will notify you when that person has a new post. There is so many things on that last page, there is also a design thing, I think it is "sketch" something, you can design stuff. I still have not finished exploring this page, didn't know it was even there. What fun. I did find some really cool gardening blogs through this. I am going back now and see what some of the other stuff is. I was bored, now I am totally entertained.
Rebecca
thanks for the tip rebeccanne....will keep that one in mind....it is going to be a LOOOOONNNNNGGG winter
