* FYI * .. 'SafeSearch' option for Google

Quoting:
What is SafeSearch?

Many users prefer not to have adult sites included in search results. Google's SafeSearch filters sites for explicit sexual content and deletes them from your search results. And while no filter is 100% accurate, SafeSearch should eliminate most inappropriate material.

You can set one of three SafeSearch settings as the default for your users: "Off," "Moderate," or "Strict." However, your users can choose between these SafeSearch options while searching, and if they turn off SafeSearch there will be no filtering.

We do our best to keep SafeSearch as up-to-date and comprehensive as possible, but inappropriate sites may occasionally slip through the cracks. If you have SafeSearch activated and still find websites containing offensive content in your results, please email the URL of any offensive site to safesearch@google.com, and we'll investigate.

* Allow me to mention another 'Kids' Search Engine, to you: Ask For Kids > http://www.askforkids.com/

The excerpt (below) .. has been 'copy & pasted' from the AskforKids.com web site .. (found under the 'About' and 'Parents' links, in top right-hand corner)!

Quoting:
Editorial Policy

Kids have great imaginations and are curious by nature. That's why Ask for Kids has created a fast, easy, and safe way for kids to find information and answers online. Ask for Kids is primarily an educational Web site that kids can use for homework help and research for school projects. But we've also included fun games and activities.

Each Web site included in Ask for Kids is carefully selected by an editor. We include only "G-rated" pages and those written specifically for children. We select sites for the quality and depth of their content, and for safety. This criteria extends to the content of the pages presented on the Ask for Kids search results page, as well as the content of pages directly linked to on those results.

For example, a search for "Why is the sun hot?" returns several options on the search results page.

Let's call these pages "Level 1".
Hyperlinks on these pages link to "Level 2" pages.
Hyperlinks on Level 2 pages link to "Level 3" pages, and so on.
We editorially verify the content of Level 1 and Level 2, but not Level 3.

At that point, users are surfing the Web outside of the scope of verification we can provide, and we strongly encourage parents to take advantage of content-filtering options offered by popular browsers.

In addition, Web sites can change suddenly and without our knowing. We go to great lengths to verify the content of our search results pages and the sites to which our results directly link. Unfortunately, a site that has been verified as safe can eventually change its content, advertising policy, or the Web sites it directly links to, becoming inappropriate without Ask for Kids knowing it. We will continue to make Ask for Kids as safe as possible, however, if you do find any inappropriate materials while searching with Ask for Kids, please notify us immediately.

As is mentioned in the above info: I, too, strongly urge parents (of young children & teens) .. to use the content-filtering options that are usually available, via their internet browser .. installed and used on your computer! (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, Eudora, etc.) * And don't step too far away either! < Stated & meant only as genuine concern!
