What's Growing - Part 9!!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Holy cow! Time for a new thread everyone. Here's a link to the old one if you are interested. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/640311/

Ok Dave & Al, I'm 5ft. 4"....well almost! And I have been surrounded by 6 ft Jolly Green Giants all my life. With the exception of my brother Brian..he's 5' 6" and likes to wrestle with things bigger than him. Not very good at it I might add. 4 out of 6 Brothers are 6ft and over, my DH best friend is 6' 2" and my daughters boyfriend is 6' 4" or 6' 5" so see I LIVE in the land of the Jolly Green Giants!!

I planted this this spring and it didn't come up this summer, not suprised as it is an oriental and needs more time than asiatics. Today when I went out to look at my Mums..it had bloomed. Looking pretty shabby w/spots all over the leaves but it still bloomed...and it looks almost like a double. It's supposed to be Star Gazer.

Pixie - I like the glad. Well you're not incredibly short. I figured you wouldn't say if you were under 5' LOL. I am 6'1" for the record.

My chewing bugs aren't bad here, this Firepot is very short and a easy meal

Al,
The colors in that is beautiful, I have a weak spot for tropical colors that blend like that.
One of my brothers is 6'1", one is 6 even, one is 6'2" and the oldest one is 6'3.5" then I have one that is 5'10" and one 5' 6" and then me. One grandfather was 6'2" and the other one was 5'2"...you know which one I take after. It could of been worse, his wife was only 4'10" so I am lucky to be over 5ft!

I have been building a new flower bed on the side of a hill that boarders our land and Auntie's. It has been a eye sore for way to long with weeds and rocks everywhere. This is the begining...i'll post more when it becomes "real". LOL

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Looks like a trend today in the melons & pinks...pretties!

So you're just the jolly little green bean, huh, pixie? What's going in the new flower bed? Are you keeping the rocks and making a rock garden?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I live on a rock garden! Actually we have ledge everywhere. here's what it looked like 2 days ago.

No neighbors! - who do you have to complain about ;)

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

that's gonna be nice! how many new daylilies do you need? LOL

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Hey Pixie, Hope you didn't miss my compliment with my attempt at humor. Your plants are the best!

Al, Thanks for the lochnic picture. I wasn't familiar with that term. Sounds like a new kind of Lego.
Dave 5'10&1/2"

Beachwood, OH

pixie - that sure is pretty but it doesn't look like Stargazer does it? I have some lilies that haven't bloomed yet - no idea what they are but they have buds on. This is their first year in.

I'm 5 ft tall and green - I blend in pretty well!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I used to be 5' 8 1/2" - but I'm shorter now - a little.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

5' 7", no green except eyes, possibly edges of thumbs

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

OK - now for weights LOL

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Sounds great, pix. Can't wait to see it next spring! I really want that v. Caribbean Crush. it looks yummy.
and Al's got a much better chance of gettin' rid of those mites than of me posting my weight here LOL

Wellington, OH

Have a question. I look at all the pictures you guys take and drool. I also write the names of them on several notepads on my desk, thinking I'll remember which is which - and I usually do. Except for one. I have written all by itself "Summer Snowflakes" - went to plant files and didn't find it. Can anyone help me, please?

Kay

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Mites are all gone Gram - I tossed the whole plant out , no not really. I will agree with the winter weight gain is about all.

so I'm down to my last annual to bloom and am going to milk it.
Fireworks aster - the white flower

Stratford, CT(Zone 6b)

Thanks, all. The name's John. :-)

John ~ Welcome! Nice plant is that Elephant Ears?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Nice to have you with us, John. Are Elephant Ears the same as Taro?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Hi John -welcome!

I don't have the name for this dahlia, it's barely visible at my work which is a shame.

Al ~ That dalhia is lovely! It really should be front and center so everyone can enjoy it.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Definitely! Give it a promotion! I'd keep it in the front if it came to live here ;-)

here's my volunteer sunflowers...heather garden to the right and the rock garden (which is only growing rocks at this point) to the left. I almost pulled them out but it's a nice bright spot now.

edit to add: al, I think I'm winning the war against the nutsedge...what you can see that's left is very yellow and sick :))
