A fine morning to you all. Pull up a chair and chat awhile.
Here's where we came from yesterday http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/643969/
Coffee and.......for Sunday, August 27th
LOL Kooger, they are both the same pictures. That second one is soooo professional looking, or at least they throught it was way back then. Wouldn't they just be appalled at us modern cooks with bare feet, shorts and tank tops!! See those stove controls in the first picture? I had a stove like that in our first rental house, low, medium and high heat, and nothing in between. The stove top was lower than the oven, and I remember brushing against that oven door handle way too many times and having the door fall open! It was the quickest way on earth to make a cake fall. I burned so much stuff using that stove, never mind that I was a newlywed with very limited cooking experience! It's a wonder my poor hubby survived!
Darius, you are coming right along with your carpentry project. Do you see the skills of your young helper improving? Yes, I remember George and Gracie doing their "say goodnight, Gracie" routine. It's a classic.
Sarv, when I was moving, soaking, planting my new plants a lot of the shoots broke off right at the soil line. I have them in water and will find my roottone and get them into some soil tomorrow in pots in the shady area of the greenhouse floor, and maybe they will live. I wonder if I need to snip off a little of the lower part of the stems?
Anybody watching the progress of the tropical storm, or maybe it is a hurricane now, that is coming toward the US? When I looked today they said it could hit Cuba and be torn apart on the high mountains but then it could reorganize and be a problem. One reporter who was in Mississippi said it has people's attention there after what happened last year. Hurricane parties might be a thing of the past.
It's time for bed, I hope you all have a good night's sleep. "Now I lay me down to sleep...." how many of you know the rest of that little prayer? I learned it as a little bitty kid.
Hi everyone! Mary where do you remember hurricaine parties from? When I home ... back in the days ... Miami ... We were never afraid that a hurricaine was coming, it actually put some excitement into our lives. ..living by candle light and listening to the radio for information ... this was before we had a TV ... o maybe there were no TVs back then. lol When I got older, we hung out in the local neighborhood tavern until it was over. All the houses and the neighborhood stores were boarded up, but I dont recall anything terrible happening ... maybe i was too young to notice. nowadays we take notice of everything going on the world. Devistation is everywhere.
I am going to bed too as I am beggining to ramble about nothing.
... Good night lo1 .. I am turning in too.
Sylvia
'if I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take" -said that every night!! memories...
I too remember the gracie -goodnight - more good memories...
Well the weather forecaster was totally wrong again - narry a drop, let alone a storm! And the air continues so thick you could cut it.
I'm watching the hurricane progress- praying that it doesn't turn into something wicked like last year. Enough is enough.
I don't have any big plans today - its gonna be one of those lay around days. We should have cut out grass yesterday, it is so long we will have to do it twice - once to cut and the next time to bag. I need to mow down the beans in the gardens too - what a waste this year..oh well!
I am having a problem with itching. My arm and my neck have driven me crazy itching. I keep putting anti itch stuff on both, but it doesn't seem to phase it. Then I put ice on it- it does cool it off (red and hot) but returns as soon as the ice is removed. I took two allergy pills this morning. I don't know what is wrong... grrr always something it seems!!
Almost time for my garden walk (and a shower in the bug spray!)
Hi y'all ... just a quick check in before I hit the shower and get ready for church. We have a long service today so I have to eat my Wheeties *smile* or my tummy will be growling. Thunder storms are predicted for today, so hope it doesn't rain until we get back.
sarv ... is it you with the itchies? Gosh ... hope you find something to calm it down. Sure hope you didn't get into poison ivy on your trip.
Hi Sylvia ... good to see ya dropping by.
Well gotta get up from here. ~~ at everyone for now. Will check in later.
~Elaine~
Kooger, I hope you are rooting some currants for me too. I put dried black currants in my scones but might like to try your sour mash!
Mary, Hurricane Ernesto looks to get nasty and will cross north and or central Florida by Thursday. Targets right at my brother in Jacksonville. Good updates on a thread in the Weather Forum here. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/643785/
Sylvia, I went through many hurricanes in Miami in my younger days. We'd go out and walk on the jetties before a storm, get soaked and exhilarated! Go up the beach into the beach doors of a bar and have a hot laced drink before heading home. My dad told of running out to the beach during the eye and picking up fish.
BBL. As far as I know Brent and I are working today but not starting until 11:00.
Good morning every one just to tell you I feel much better, hugs to all of you
Just heard about that awful crash in Kentucky, how sad
How sad about the plane crash. Seems like we haven't had one in quite a while.
Glad you are feeling better Maria.
Sylvia, I remember hurricane parties also. But then when a really bad one hit coastal NC during my senior year in high school, I saw first hand how devastating it was to family members to lose so much they had worked so hard for, all their lives. Since houses on the beaches were not required to be up on stilts like they are now, the downstairs was concrete block living quarters. Sand was hip deep in them. I shoveled sand for weeks in 5 houses and one motel. Also a large tree broke off and landed beside my bedroom, missing me by only about 1 foot.
sarv, have you tried aloe?
Well, I have missed my very favorite T.V. show, Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood. Wonderful varied documentaries and vignettes. It's on CBS at 9 a.m.. I have to be very organized to finish getting ready and get out the door by church time.
Good morning. Sylvia, I don't personally remember hurricane parties, but everybody has heard about them. I seem to remember hearing about a hurricane party where the partiers were all so drunk that they weren't able to respond when they should have been getting out of a house that was collapsing in slow motion, and most of them didn't survive. Very sad.
Darius, thanks for the link to the storm information. You live on a flood plain now, uh oh! Not so good. Better have a plan just in case.
Maria, I'm so glad the worst is over! Do keep taking the meds tho, it's important, and we will all give you heck if you don't follow doctor's orders. Anyhow, I know you want to be well again, Samson and the gardens are waiting.
Casey, the chicken story is funny to me too, but then it is not my oven. Eventually even without cleaning the smoke will go away, but if he keeps adding new layers...... hmmm, not so good. Maybe someday the neighbors will call the fire department when the smoke comes rolling out of your windows........ I'll stand by for breaking news as they say on tv.
I've gotta hit the shower and get ready for church. See you later.
Just woke up - slept for a couple of hours - itchies are still hanging in the background, but not a full fledged itch attack. Comes and goes. I just had a small dish of vanilla bean ice cream to see it that would cure it! LOL
Carat- love the chicken story - I think we are cut of the same cloth...DH didn't do any of HIS dishes while I was gone. I told him I wasn't doing them as I wasn't home to dirty a one of them, - he replied 'well, you don't work!" Told him I bring in more money not working than he does working. ... that shut him up...and he did the dishes LOL
Maria, glad you are feeling more chipper. The road to recovery is sometimes long...hang in there...Just heard of the plane crash too...so sad.
Darius with your luck, I think I would make plans!!!!!!!
Well, off to give DSis a call, we didn't have our usual 2 hr call on Sat (she was gone)
Yes, I AM in a flood plain. Brent's mother brought over photos to show me last week, just the ordinary spring flooding. I hate to think what a 100 year flood would do but at least we have flood insurance. I need to start taking photos of what's where to document us just in case. I always keep an emergency bag packed with survival stuff.
Hope 43 ,says hi to all her PC crashed yesterday ,
she is having surgery Monday on Knee , so it may be a while before she gets back on .
I take her to hospital at 8 AM tomorrow .
she is in so much pain she cant walk 3 feet with out falling or having to sit down We had heavy wind and storms late last night . if don't get call soon will have to head over to see if her power is on . I have a limited phone plan for seniors 25 out going all the incoming i want no long distance for only 15.00 a month helps tame the bills some . LOL , But i have used them up for this billing period .
Was it Maria who said Men don't listen? Really? On our way homefrom breakfast I asked DH to stop for the Tribune and for corn for dinner., We got the paper. I am not making a second trip to get corn.
Cloudy and mid 70's so far today. Went out to the side garden and pulled out the spreading Artemesia and the Q.A's. lace which is already going to seed. I have a couple of packets of old seed, so I might toss them out there and see if they get growing before frost. If not, nothing lost. There was only one big weed growing in there!
Spent about an hour out there and now I'm sneezing, hacking and my eyes are watering. Can't wait for winter. Air has been so thick with humidity it must be holding down all the allergens.
Maria, so glad you are feeling better. Keep taking those meds until they are all gone! Like everyone has told you several times, I'm just making sure you don't forget! My childhood was filled with family members making jams and jellies from their berry patches and fruit trees and sharing them. What one family didn't have, another surely did, so everyone got a good variety. Canning was a full time summer job, peaches, crab apples, pears, apple sauce and apple butter, vegetables of all kinds, If someone slaughtered a pig there was sausage to make and ham to cure. None of us were well off financially, but we sure did eat well.
Have to go tidy up the spare bedroom, half done sewing projects and odds and ends strewn all over and my DS is coming Thursday. She'll leave Saturday a.m., having found out there is very little traffic on the roads mid-holiday. She usually has one motell night before she gets to N.C. so she should be there Monday sometime.
Carat, I wouldn't have cleaned that oven either! What a mess. I hate it when they just walk away from it as if it is of no importance. It's no help to have someone cook if you have to be the clean up crew. And I don't mean just cleaning up the cooking pots and dishes. I would leave the oven door wide open until it got cleaned up. And I would keep it open even when someone closes it. And then I would write a big note on it if that's too subtle. No pity. Lucky me, my oven self cleans although I have to do it when I can open doors and windows as there is always that smell of burnt stuff in the air , even with the down draft running to pipe it outside.
The ice cream social sounded like a good time, IO1, I probably would have sampled much more than you did. Do you think your parents will reschedule their visit? If so, I hope they do it before you have to clean the whole house again!
I have an old collection of cookbooks too, and rarely use them. I almost always grab the Betty Crocker one, for the tried and true apple crisp, and fruit pie recipes. Otherwise, I mostly cook out of my head.
This isn't getting that room cleaned up. It's all my mess too, so I can't even blame it on someone else. Back later. ~~~~~~~~~~ to all.
Sheila
Cookbooks make wonderful reading. Only have 35 or 40 now, and little room for more. Kitchen clean-up is a ritual here. "Whosoever cooks doesn't have to clean up" was the byword but I get to clean up either way, and enjoy it. My policy is to clean up prep items as soon as they are used as meal prep permits. Works OK. As to 'men don't listen', well la de dah ! I betcha there are a couple women out there that don't listen too well either. lol
This morning I trapped the second squirrel and took it to the woods several miles away. Hope it finds its partner. They have been burying walnuts in our beds and so far I've pulled up three walnut starts, now that they are gone (squirrels, not walnuts) perhaps the dogs will be barking less.
Casey, maybe DH would benefit from some lessons at a cooking school or class. Then he could 'show off' what a talented cook he is. Cooking isn't gender specific, my first spouse had a hard time making Jello.
"I bring in more money not working than he does working", Wow Sarv, that's a big one to lay on a guy, just because he can't function without you. Hope he didn't eat up the ice-cream.
Last double row of pavers is in and I'll pour the retaining edge when it cool off this afternoon. Will get the second load of sand tomorrow, and a sack or two of cement now that I have aggregate, Sand and a cement mixer. Just think of all the trouble I can get into now.lol Now that the day is 'hotten' up it might be a good time to trip out to an air conditioned grocery store and do some shopping. ( 3 stores have Starbuck's stands in them)
bal, you certainly have picked the right stores!! I took MIL to her psych doc on Tues, they just moved into a fancy new bldg, and guess whatt? they have Starbuck's coffee! "It's a good thing." LOL
Back from church,.... got distracted with picking raspberries and watering pots last night so only got a few dishes done. I'll get at them this aft. Did I ever mention I hate washing dishes? We bought a used dishwasher over a year ago but DH still hasn't plumbed it in. I think it's time for a mutiny. :)
Back in from church and we have a new Pastor! It's been a year, so this is wonderful news. The social was also very nice yesterday, but I shouldn't have eatten all that as it spoiled my supper. Oh well, ice cream and cake has milk and eggs ... oh and remember that fruit trifle? See ... that's good for you food! :-)
Meezers, I'm sure the folks will reschedule, but it will probably be during the holidays as we don't like my Dad to drive out of town. That was part of his problem. My Mother wanted to come, so my DS and I planned it, and Daddy copped an attitude. *sigh* He was just mad because it wasn't his idea this time, and Mother won't go anywhere without him.
Bal, us girls needed that lesson cause you're certainly right. I have lot's of women friends that amaze me who don't even try to cook. They just say ... "Oh I don't cook!" Well, I want to tell them ... if you don't ever get your hiny in the kitchen ... you certainly won't ever learn. LOL When I got married we ate a plenty that wasn't very good at first, but that's how I learned. I'm sure it must be like your projects ... you weren't born knowing how to do them.:-)
Maria, so glad to see that you're feeling better today. Please do take care, though, and don't overdo. :-)
Hi Mary ... are the horses okay after being shod? And how is your neighbor who adopted the new kitty? What about your DH? Did he have a good trip? I must be behind.
McCool, you haven't mentioned your DH lately either. I know you said you thought his foot was red and possibly getting infected again? Then Friday night you said he was driving you to your craft show and then working in your shop. Please give us an update on him and also how your Saturday went. :-)
Tazzy ... thanks for the report on Twyla. Give her hugs&blessings and tell her I'll be praying for her.
I need to go turn on CNN as I'm waaay behind. Haven't heard about the plane crash as we came straight in from church, ate and by the time I got the kitchen cleaned up it was time for my DG fix! LOL Think I'll go check that out. ~~~ at everyone for now.
~Elaine~
Didn't hear about the crash either. Untrashing the guest room is taking longer than I thought. Had to iron the clothes I had piled up so I could get the ironing board put away, bury a few unfinished sewing projects, move a couple pieces of furniture, spritz some windex on the tv, the lamps, and glass table top...now I have to vacuum and if I do that room I might as well go right through the house. Man works from sun to sun............
There's a lot to be said for clean up as you go Robert...I try to do that but usually just throw it all in the dishwasher. As regards how not to listen, I learned from the Master. Two can play that game....
How kind of Tazzy to take Hope in for her surgery, may it go well and relieve her pain.
Kooger, over a year for installing the dishwasher? Hmmmm...time for a rebellion methinks. My DSIL waited almost ten years to repair DD's...until last Christmas when she was making dinner and the sink was full of prep bowls pots etc. I said, "Do you want me to load your dishwasher for you?" DSIL was standing there and she said "No, it still isn't fixed". I looked at him and said "Would you like me to buy you a new one for Christmas?" I knew all he had to do was install the motor he had bought some time back . He fixed it the next day. Installing the new one would have been just as much work as fixing the old.... (I am available for consultation at no charge. LOL)
DH and his buddy are fixing the muffler on buddy's car. They just went for parts. Think he'll stop and get corn? I doubt it, unless Bill suggests it. He's always asking me where I buy my corn....last couple times it was the supermarket, and it was very good. I'm sure they buy locally. If he does get some, I'll plan some corn chowder with the leftovers...unless Bill stays for dinner in which case there won't be any leftovers. The man can eat.
Off to vacuum, doubt I'll get back here any more today, so I'll see you briefly in the morning.
Sheila
Yup, over a year. I went more than a year without the stool in the main bathroom until I complained. I was so tired of going to the other end of the house to use the small one in the middle of the night. By the time I went all that way and all the way back, I was too awake and couldnt get back to sleep. He complained abt me on the pc all hours of the morning so I told him to fix the bathroom so I didn't have to wake u to use it! It worked!! We had a new stove for 2.5 years before it went in. We bought counter tops 3 years ago this fall and they are going in soon, I think, but don't hold ur breath yet.....
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/643998/ Hey, check out Babs cool sign - gave me a chuckle!!
Bal, DH has taken several cooking classes and he is quite a good cook. Amazing since he just started cooking about three years ago. He watches the food network constantly and gets alot of wonderful recipes from there. When I was cooking I dont believe that DH was even aware as to where the dish soap was kept, or the sink stopper. My oldest son does the dishes after dinner and I usually will help out in cleaning up the prep mess. My complaint is that I forwarned him of what was going to happen and he decided not to listen so he should be the one to clean it up.
Didn't know about the crash until it was mentioned here. Had to go check it out. Sad.
Until we started talking about moving we really didn't pay to much attention to exactly where the hurricanes and tornado's were headed. Now DH watches and documents it down. It really helped out when we were looking for areas that we could or would buy a home.
I love Babs new sign. Sounds like it could be a good seller at a craft show. McCool..........
Managed to move all the items from the computer room into the new computer room. Took most of the day. Cleaning out things and arranging them. We are going to wait until we get back from Tahoe before ripping out the paneling and carpet in the computer room. I have decided that I own way to much stuff.
Kooger, you are a patient soul. I would be throwing fits if I had a working dishwasher around and it just wasn't hooked up. DH is really good about getting projects done in some what of a timely manner. I have had to start doing the project wrong first a couple times to get him up and moving to tell me I am doing it all wrong. He then takes over and gets it done. Before we were married he was witness to my mother and I remodeling a wall with a sledge hammer and chainsaw. When my father and oldest brother left to go deer hunting we had a five bedroom house with a small livingroom. We they returned we had a four bedroom house and a huge livingroom.
Tazzy, be sure to tell Twyla that we are thinking of her and wish her well.
DH and I are going over to his cousins house so DH can repair some holes in the wall from the plumber. They had a leak but it was hidden. Plumbers had to cut 6 huge holes into the drywall of three rooms to find it. They are ordering pizza and once DH gets the holes patched and first coated we can all sit down and visit.
Have a great evening. ~~~~~~'s to all
Casey
Sarg Do you think your bug spray might be causing your rash? I was lurking and didnt see that mentioned. Hi to everyone else. Dixie
man, I haven't done diddly squat today- snoozed, read, snoozed, red and ate a bit in between all the snoozes. Must be I needed some catching up! Rain never did appear, and now the sun is out.
Bal, if the shoe fits wear it....I'm in a funk and not so nice things come out of my mouth....things will get better, just gotta get out of this hole....
Kooger, you are wayyy more patient than I am. I would have called someone to get the job one. DH is never happy with anyones work but his own, so that would have jump started him.
Talk about clean up- I put dishes in the sink with water this morning - yup- still there!! That magic genie didn't come today...
Hi oriole - no I don't think it is the spray as I had it this winter too and it is only on my right arm and neck. I spray the bug spray all over myself arms and legs. It is beginning to itch again, so off to get the anti-itch stuff.
Don't lurk anymore- tell us all about yourself- we need some new faces at the table!!
Thanks, well you can tell I cant remember . Got your name wrong in just a few minutes.
Just came back from doing my sink full of dishes, soaking till water was cold.I do have dishwasher but no one home but me jlust as easy to wash.
Raining and a lazy day. Been in and out had a roof on my little greenhouse uyesterday. Got a bench for greenhouse, daughter cleaned her garage and gave it to me. Trying to clean up mess from new roof.
dixie
Hi all! Cold and rainy here, hello fall I guess. I've had a headache for several days which i'm guessing is because of the bumper crop of ragweed.
Maria-Glad to hear you're doing better!
Casey-WAAAY too funny about your sledgehammer and chainsaw remodel. I'm a crowbar and Sawzall gal myself. That, WD40 and duct tape will get almost anything accomplished!! LOL
sarv-I'm in a funk too , thought I saw you down there! I can't face the end of summer. Did nothing worthwhile, kids go back to school, and I face a long lonely winter of discontent. Also lots of transition as kids leave (and they hurl criticisms on the way out)...I decided to do nothing for two days, until I stepped in cat barf. I did clean that up. DD#2 said she'll just spritz me with Febreze now and then to freshen me up. That at least made me laugh.
m5-Look! I have a snoozy pile too! Not as big as yours though. I love the look of a snoozy pile, it just makes me happy especially on a cold rainy day. (Feel free to post one ;-)
Twyla and Tazzy-Blessings to you both! I hope Twyla gets relief soon, and you are a good friend Tazzy!
Elaine-sounds like a wonderful church social. Our church has coffee after Mass one Sunday a month, and it's just so nice when I can hang out and chat. We're much too busy as a society!
darius-glad you have flood insurance...you can at least plan to store things up high and such too. Seems like we all have some hazard to face...
I love the looks of that old cookbook! I have a few from estate sales and such. My favorite tells you how to preserve just about anything, including bear, squirrel...every kind of vegetable and such. A reminder of the lengths people have sometimes had to go to insure their survival
Pizza's here...yep, I'm still on strike. I'll check back, here's my snoozy pile:
Corn Chowder? Yum, and recipe please!
Whooopppsss... forgot to post earlier that we got the sub floor all in, and most of the downed tree cut up. Bees nest in the tree base so it may have to stay just where it is untill after the first frost! Photos of the sub floor in my Limbo #3 thread. No photos of the tree debris.
Brent brought his best friend who helped today and man did we make progress! I'd of hired him first if I'd seen him first, although I'm quite satisfied with Brent. He outworks Brent by 30% but will help on weekends.
I thought I was through with tomato sauce but Brent's daddy came with half a bushel of tomatoes when he came to check on the boys using the chain saw on my downed tree. Glad he checked, he cut several branches that bucked.
Well, I started this post with something important to say and CRS set in. Oh well.
Hi all. Well Dr. called to check in on me and didn't like my reply. He called in a prescription for some pills but I ain’t taking them. I don’t do the wishy washy feeling. Neighbor made mention of her having some new plantings on the side of her house. Pretty pink bushes that everyone has she says. I am going to stick my head over the wall later and take a peek. If they are oleanders I know where my headaches are coming from. I am so allergic to those things and I have keeping my bedroom window open at night. I am going to have to do some fancy talking to get her to get rid of them if they are. Sweet woman, just not all there most of the time.
He also made an appointment for me on Wednesday after work. Dont know what he is going to be able to do in his office that he can’t tell me over the phone other then have me write out a check.
Darius, yeah for you and the extra help. Brent may not be the quickest but I think you were meant to have him around maybe more for helping him.
Corn chowder??? Mmmm sounds good, but I have never had it. I did purchase some black current jelly stuff today while at the store. Its consistency looks more like jelly then a sauce.
DH got the holes patched and first coated. He will stop by there on his way home from work tomorrow and second coat them. We found out another cousin, brother to the one we went to see, has just been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. He is only 39.
Sarv, as a child my mom would have us use vinegar to rinse off our skin if we rubbed up against something that made us red and itch.
Oriole, please have a seat, grab a cup of coffee from one of the counters and tell us about yourself.
We love newbies. ......
Well time to get myself into the shower.
Oh the oven is still dirty, and he asked what I wanted for dinner tomorrow. Told him pot roast, taters, veggies, and fresh bread. We will see if he remembers to start the crock pot, if not this should be interesting. I was think Lawry's????
Hi everyone.
Welcome oriole and Sylvia, glad you dropped by!
I01, you asked about my DH and about our Saturday. His feet are still in not so great shape. If he is up doing much of anything they'll start to bother him and the callus is growing back. The craft show was decent. I made some money, mostly selling candles and Smelly Jellies. We had to shut down the store for a couple of hours so that DH could come get me and all my paraphernalia. We did have a good day money-wise, which is good since we don't know whether or not DH will be getting any more disability checks.
tazzy, thank you for the up-date on Twyla. Do you have any idea how long she's supposed to be in the hospital? If it's meant to be a few days, perhaps you could post the hospital address. She might like some cards.
Darius, glad that you got so much accomplished -- and found another helper, it sounds like.
sarv and dmcd, sorry to hear that you're depressed these days. I can empathize, but as far as the seasons go, Fall is my favorite. I'm glad to get rid of the heat and humidity.
Maria, so glad to hear that you are feeling better. Please do take care of yourself.
I've gotten almost nothing accomplished today. I meant to get out there and pick the beans, tomatoes, and a cauliflower, but by the time I found the laced shoes I'd used before for gardening, it was pouring. It continued pretty much all day. I ran out during a lull in the intensity of the rain to harvest some rosemary, tarragon, and parsley, but that's all the gardening I did today. I did start working on a repair and on some earrings that I needed to design.
Hi Casey, Mary, bal, Sheila, woodspirit, oz, ves, cece, and any of the rest of our friends who may be lurking out there.
Even though I've had an easy day today, I'm still tired ------- haven't caught up on my sleep yet. So I'll post tomorrow's thread and bid you all goodnight. (Oh yeah, I've never watched all that much TV, but I do remember the Burns and Allen show and the sign-off.)
Here's the link to Monday's thread http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/644573/

I just talked to Maria on the teleplone and she sounds dreadful even as she says she's feeling better. Send some Good Wishes her way!
Maria, yes please do get better soon. Did you call your daughter and let her know that you are not feeling well??? All the best wishes, thoughts and prayers for you.....
Took my shower and came out to everyone watching Scary Movie 4. I think I am going to get off here grab my book and read until I fall asleep. Have a great night all, See you all in the morning....
Just a quick checkin from Reno. The weather was hot today, explored downtown Reno.As I am paying by the minute, just gonna wave. Talk to you later.
Hi y'all
Just popping in a minute before I go get my bath. I'm pooped as I fried fish tonight and of course I ate way too much. The DH's great uncle came over and we had cat fish, hush puppies, fries, cole slaw, home grown sliced tomatoes and some bread and butter pickles I put up. Everything turned out real good, and his uncle ate and ate. He lives in a retirement home and doesn't get that sort of food often, so it made me feel good to watch him eat.
Casy, so sorry you're still having problems and hope it's just that flowre and your neighbor will be agreeable to at least move it across the yard.
Maria, so sorry also to hear you're still feeling nasty. Am ~ing at you and sending hugs!
McCool ... sorry to hear about your DH, but glad you had a successful day on Saturday with your crafts. Am continuing to pray about your situation and hope you find answers soon and also that your DH will improve.
Dixie, it's so nice to see a new face at the table so please don't lurk anymore. As everyone has already said ... there's plenty of room at the table so just pull out a chair and make yourself comfy. Be sure to come on back tomorrow and tell us about your day. :-)
I'll tell y'all ... all day long I just couldn't help but think about Defoe and how she had just flown out of Lexington on Saturday. It just gives me chills to think about and I'm praying for all those families and the people that have witnessed that tragedy in KY.
Well, I hope y'all will excuse me for not speaking individually to everyone tonight but it's getting late and I'm ready to hit those sheets!
Hugs all way round!
~Elaine~
One last [peek before I hit the hay, welcome newbies, I'll remember your names after I see them a few times, but not tonight! Have an early golf date tomorrow a.m. so I have to be zipping out of here by ...fall is definitely in the air, and there won't be any more playing soon, so I'm getting out there while I can.
I read that Twyla is only going to be there as an outpatient?? Can't recall.
Note to Kooger, milage from i94 to where we are is about 15, according to DH. If you stop on the way back from Oostburg, your best best is 43 south except for going through the milwaukee downtown which is all ripped up but still navigable. Weekends aren't so bad. Then you head towards Beloit, and I'll give you more specifics in a dmail so I don't put every one to sleep.
Night Gracie...........
Sheila
