Thanks everyone, I too love the deformed looking ones, it's a shame those seeds won't produce them again, but I am sure it's just a freak of nature down my driveway strip, I have them tagged for growing next year but not getting my hopes up

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

Ohio Breezy, you sure have an amazing assortment of blooms!

I got some deformed ones like that this morning. I`m beginning to suspect the picoted edges get torn in the middle like paper and you get the extreme petaled appearance.

But the form like this one:

http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=2658617

is awesome and more generations could yeild more flowers showing more extreme versions of this...you never know.

I`m beginning to think high humidity, rainy conditions...insects possibly too may have something to do with the split petals.

Laurrie,

You are quite the master of the camera you're using, each picture could be on a commercial packet for each cultivar. Wow!

Joseph

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

Gorgeous!! One and all.

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

gardener - you are right, that one bears seed saving on it's on and just seeing what it could produce in offspring next year is something that might prove interesting, I love the edges of it!

Joseph, I use an Olympus Camedia C-740, I use the (flower setting of course) and get up close as I can to them, I love this camera and the colors are true, I make greeting cards from my photos, here are a couple I have made recently to replenish my birthday card stock

Thanks Plantnutz, I enjoy them all and honestly couldn't pick a favorite!
