Coffee klatch for Friday, August 25th

Millbury, MA(Zone 5a)

Good morning to you all.

I hope everyone is well rested and feeling better today than they were yesterday.

Sit down, have a cup or two and let's swap tales of the day.

We came from over here http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/643279/

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

I guess I slept too much yesterday, LOL, now I'm up. Anesthesic always hits me hard and the nurse asked me if I have trouble with motion sickness. Oh yeah, BIG time! I'd never heard that before but it kinda makes sense when you think abt it. Have a good day all!!

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Good Morning. Wet here - had rain overnight, but sun looks like it might peek out. Very humid tho...hate that!! I always feel like I need a shower!!

I dashed out this morning to take a pic of my white brug for wood. It is a short plant, but flowers more than any I have. Not one or two, but tons all at once.

I'm up, just moving slowly. My first hour every morning is never pleasant, coughing out all the post nasal drip accumulated overnight. You never want to be around me then!

Kooger, I have big time motion sickness too.... I was born with an ear anomaly and the pills for motion sickness don't help me any.

Sorry to hear Maria has pneumonia again. That's the pits. Didn't they give you a pneumonia shot after the last time?

I should try to do something productive this morning before I have to drive to TN but have no energy. I did feed my cat, and Gracie, and washed my face.

Sarv, great brugmansia!

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Good Morning all, slept well, and feel some better. Throat still scratchy, and coughing, but not achy or feverish. Have a busy day today, finish cleaning kitchen and laundry room, then iron some clothes and pack. Need to run to the bank and library, and other errands. DGD coming late this afternoon, she is taking care of DH for the weekend. That's a toss up of who takes care of whom. She will have a good time, as he sees no need for rules, bed times, eating, etc. So she will have a long leash.

Well, gotta get moving, will check back later.

Maria glad to hear from you, but sorry you are so ill.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Darius- I am the same way - coughing and coughing in the morning. I've tried tons of stuff and nothing seems to nip it in the bud..I hate it...

Maria, now Dr. Sue said you probably have pneumonia. You take care of yourself, check in here when you are able - we want to make sure you are still kicking!!

Flower -that's the pits having to go twice for some knucklehead person. Hope they throw the book at her!

M5- get off your duff- your day of goofing off is over. I should talk LOL. My suitcase is still layinging in the middle of the floor in the family room. I was rummaging around looking for the fudge I bought for DH!! I need to hop in the shower and then get my butt in gear and get something done. Sure doesn't seem like Friday to me!!

Well, CRS, so I better hit the shower and wash away the cob webs.

Waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Sarv, thank you for showing me a pic of a brug. I'd never sen one I don't think. Its very neat looking but I would have to bring it in each fall. I try to stay away from that. I've cannas Ibring in and begonias but the rest...................I know I'm lazy, that and not enough room in the house.

Darius have a safe drive to TN.

~~~ing to McCool Kooger and defoecat. Everyone have a good day.
So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)
Yippee, a bit of good news!
The ultrasound showed just 2 very small cysts in one lobe of my liver and my doctor says not to worry about them. The blood work came back fine, just some slightly elevated liver function. I've had that since I was in my late 20's and worked with a lot of chemicals before fume hoods were required. I'm sure lots of good red wines over the years didn't help, LOL.
The colonoscopy will be Sept. 13, so after today's drive to the dermatologist, I may have just that colonoscopy trip to TN for the rest of this year. My lung doctor follow up is in February. I will feel a huge surge of relief once these next 2 tests are over and I get a clean bill of health, so cross your fingers for me.
Waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)
Fingers crossed and holding. It would nice if you weren't having to run to TN docs after the 13th.
Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)
Back again. Moving right along here, got the kitchen cleaned,floor mopped, changed bed linen, one back on bed, other in the dryer. Pressed all the clothes I am taking to Reno, suitcases packed. I double bagged all my gels shampoo etc, and packed them in the checked bag. Sure hope there is no accidents there. Still need to pay some bills, and run to the bank and library, so I am doing good!!
Darius, good news on the tests, then the colonoscopy, and a little break from Dr. Oh, yes, you still have that tooth to deal with.
Cece, I don't like to have to bring plants in in the winter time, not enough space, and am always wondering what I carried in with the plants.
Sarv, get moving. and for gosh sakes get that suitcase out of the middle of the floor!! LOL, I know the feeling, getting ready to go is more fun than dealing with the suitcases on return. Glad you had a good trip.
Maria, hope you feel better today. I am thinking about you.
kooger, what does motion sickness have to do with anesthetic? That just went over my head.
Well, gonna dress and head to the bank, so will check in after that.
~~~to any I didn't mention by name.

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Another beautiful day in the neighborhood. Trapped one of the squirrels that raise so much barking in the kids. Took it down to the woods and set it out. Hope to get its partner in the next couple days.

Good news on the tests Darius, and hope the next one comes up clean too. That long haul to TN sure is a bummer. When do you think you can get a doc closer to home ? Hope the tooth is better.

Great Brugs Sarv. You shouldn't leave a suitcase in the middle of the floor when it has such valuable contents as Fudge in it. (good thing it wasn't ice cream)

Defoe, good luck in Reno. Pretty exciting sights and entertainment, courtesy of those who left their money behind.

More pavers to put in today, a bit of concrete and a bunch of weeding and pruning so better get another cup of Joe and get to work. Best of all possible wished to everyone.

Robert, there are no specialists closer to home, just a few GP's and only a couple of dentists. One of the drawbacks to living in the country. My closest town, Marion, is dying. They have lost 50% of the manufacturing facilities in the last 10 years which of course affects all the local economy.

Probably why this property was so cheap, comparatively.

I hope you took the squirrel far enough away and didn't leave breadcrumbs!

BBL, almost time to head to TN.

Morning everyone ... well it's morning for me! LOL the DH had to go in last night after several phone calls and I waited up for him. It was around 4:30 when he came in. I think he left around 8:30 or 9 this a.m. but I still had cobwebs, so kissed him and rolled back over.

Defoe, sure hope you have a wonderful trip. I'll be thinking about you. You better slow down girl, you aren't gonna have any energy for that trip! LOL Oh sure sounds like the DGD will have a good time taking care of DGD. :-)

Kooger, so glad to hear things weren't as bad as first expected on your tests ... but mostly glad everything is behind you and you can stop dreading them. I find that everything is worse in my head than in real life. Hugs to you for a good and relaxful day today. :-)

Darius ... yipee on those tests results. Glad to hear some good news. Now for that tooth. Please don't forget that. Hmmm, me thinks you won't be able to? *smile*

sarv, just kick that suitcase outta the way and walk around in the garden a day or so. :-) Well, you'll need that fudge for energy ... so do rescue that. Besides it'll melt. What kind of brug is that? I don't have a clue about mine. I'm gonna hold the DH hostage this week-end until he gets me a pic to post. Lets see what can I do ... threaten not to cook perhaps??? hehehe

Bal, you tire me out with all your many projects. Wow don't know where all that energy comes from! Am ~~ at ya!

Ann, sorry I missed you yesterday. Hope you have fun in Japan. Yes, we'll need pics!

Okay, I feel that brain fog setting in again so will scoot outta here for now. BBL

I forgot to say hi to Maria and am sending hugs and best wishes that you feel better real soon!

Howdy! I could say that I have been keeping up with reading all the posts, but that would be a lie. I just have had no time. Life and work have been just tooooo hectic. I miss you all so much though.

Last Thursday night one of DS's friends was killed in a car crash. So hard to deal with at 19, they think they are invinceable. The kid was going way to fast for the back road that he was on. He had been in the military and home on leave. He was scheduled to leave for Iraq on Sept. 3.

Discovered last weekend that someone had helped themselves to alot of change I had been saving in a big jug. That was going to be spending money for my trip to vegas in Sept. I am pretty sure I know who did it, just can't lay blame without proof. I am pretty sure my stepson is into smoking pot again. Oh well, I believe what goes around, comes around and the guilty party will get their due in the end.

Weather here was just wonderful until yesterday, then the humidity came back. We did get some much needed rain though still need more. Soooo dry here.

Our county fair started this week. It's only a mile up the road from me. We went last night and will be taking DGS this weekend. DH and DF took some of our old, restored tractors up to display. Since it is so close to home, we always see lots of people to talk to.

Maria - So sorry to hear you are sick! Please take care and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Darius - Good news about the tests. Hope the rest go well also.

Balvenie - Pretty flowers!

Sarv - Sounds like you had a nice trip. The pictures are great!

Bonnie - Hope you have a good trip too!

~~~~~~to everyone. If I don't get back, hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)
Hi folks,
Got some time in the lounge at Vancouver airport. We've passed security; so just have another half hour to kill. As I start to write, it's 10:30 am.
Sheila - DD and future SIL have a small 80 yr old house which has had a lot of stuff done to it with no clean-up. It really did need a clean-up before they really started putting things away and that pretty well got done. Also during the week, Mark supervised tiling the kitchen, bathroom and entry of his condo and installed a working dishwasher as well as a number of other things before they put it on the market - hopefully in a week or so. So he was pretty busy over there. A bit of time and money spent there should pay off in big $$$ when it is sold given the Vancouver housing market. And they want to sell ASAP to free up $$ for things that need to be done with the house (they were meeting with a window person when we left this morning). As well, all their LR furniture and their own bed and a number of other items are still in the condo to make it look lived in which again brings a better price.
Whether I get to write from Japan will depend on whether there is free hi-speed access (we have a computer) in the hotel, or a convenient Internet cafe. Or occasionally I've seen computers set-up for people to use at conferences. When the sessions are on accompanying persons can generally use them.
Bonnie - good fortune with your hairdresser. I agree, a good one is worth keeping. Mine in Ottawa is generally really good -he's cut my hair since 1977, but I think he's been in a bit of a rut lately.
FC - good on sending the long braid. Hope your cut looks good too.
Hi Babs - we saw the exit for Whidbey Island from I5 both coming and going last week when we drove down to Portland. How far are you from I5?
Maria - sorry to hear that you are ill. Please take care and get well soon.
Darius - you are overdue for some good news. Glad to hear it.
Hi Elaine. I have the camera. Or at least hope we do. It's in the checked luggage, but well padded. Figure the fewer electronic things we take through security, the better. Just hope all the luggage makes it OK. Now that the whole cosmetic bag has to go into checked luggage because of creams and liquids, etc. I'd be stuck w/o it. In 2000 we got to Sweden w/o luggage. Mine took 5 days to show up. I had to buy a few clothing items, but I was able to live OK with the contents of my carry-on for the most part.(It also shed new light on what you REALLY need to take with you.) That wouldn't be the case these days.
Anyway, time to finish off, go to washroom and board plane. More later when I get a chance.
Ann
waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)
Well I'm up and at 'em today, had golf scheduled this morning, played the first three holes and the rain came, so we got rain checks. I drove over to DS's home to feed the kitties. Wednesday when I got there, they were tired of waiting and had knocked the food container over, and taken off the lid..helped themselves. If I'd known they could do that I could have saved a lot of time and gas money. LOL I was a little concerned when I didn't see Chips yesterday so since I was half way there already at the park, I thought I should check. She was sleeping in the bathroom sink, so that completed the head count.
Managed to squeeze in an appointment for a hair cut. In spite of the perm, it's taking way too much of my time messing around drying etc. So, off it goes!
Nice to get good reports Darius. People in the upper regions of our state have the same problem. Specialists don't want to practice in small communities, same with orthodontists, etc. There are a number of large and well run clinics, but they require long drives for the patients. And you can never schedule everything in one fell swoop, it's always different dates.
I assume you are now wearing your shoes on a regular basis?
Someone called my Dr. a he, but she's a she, and a little bitty thing, so if she smarts off too much about my smoking I'll just pat her on the head and tell her not to worry..
Good job trapping that squirrel Bal. Hope you get all his relatives too. Naturally, since my DGS brought me his pellet rifle to use, I haven't seen a single rabbit in the yard. I'm sure as soon as he picks it up and I am unarmed, they'll be out there at the hosta salad bar, munching away. As soon as any critter comes up on the deck, including birds, ants, bugs etc., all four meezers are lined up at the slider, threatening them with mayhem, "If only they could get out there!!" Gorgeous patch of zinnias...I have a few scattered about from several 10 cent pkgs of seeds I picked up at the hardware store. Really didn't expect them to grow.
Sarv, if my brug would produce blossoms like that, it could live in the dinette all winter! And who are you to talk about getting off one's duff, didn't you just have a whole weekend of loafing?? Go put that suitcase away. Hey, that swaying bridge would have made me shut my eyes, too. I used to drive over a short one near where I lived, that had that metal grid stuff that makes your tires feel as if they haven't got good traction, and I hated it. I'd go out of my way to avoid it.
Yay for BABS!!! Tomatos. If my income depended on growing tomatos, I'd be starving for sure. What a puny crop. So far I've had quite a few of the little pears, two of the yellow full sized ones and nada from the red tomato plant. DGS says they have lots so he will bring me some, but I am disappointed that I can't go pick my own.
FC, what a wasted day! Our court systems sure aren't set up for working people. Criminals don't care since they don't have to be anywhere else. Last year my DD was called for jury duty and wasted 10 days sitting around and never getting called for a trial. She did bring along enough reading material, but the waiting area was not all that comfortable or well lit.
Sending special Get Well thought waves to Maria! Take your medicine, get lots of rest, come visit us when you can, we need your sweet self here among us.
~~~~~~~ to everyone else, I've gone brain dead for the moment and can't think of what else I wanted to say, and it's time to leave for the new Coiffure....which I thought was a good idea until just a moment ago....LOL

Sheila

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

M5- get your hair cut- short works better for us gals on the go. I got my hinney up and put away the stuff in the suitcase, did three loads of laundry, changed my bed and did dishes. That's enough for one day!!

Went over and spent a couple of hours with preggo DIL at her garage sale. I saw several items we had given them for sale dirt cheap- almost wanted to buy them back!! For instance there was a blender we got them for 40 or so bucks- for $2-looked like it had never been used. I debated whether or not to pick it up and stick it in the trailer, but then remembered that I never use the one in the house. DGS had many toys on sale for 50 cents. I remember paying $25 or more for several big trucks he had for sale. But like a good MIL, I kept my big trap shut....

suz - if you have teens around, don't tempt them- hide all money!! I used to put my purse in a different place each night. DH left is wallet in his pants- hanging on a hook in plain sight. I always told him to put his wallet away as we had teens at that time, plus many of their friends stopping over. Well, of course he thought I was crazy. To prove a point, I would take a ten or a twenty a couple of times a week. He never missed it! At the end of the month, I showed him what I had snitched. Still didn't learn his lesson tho and continued to leave it out. On occassion, I have taken more- if he doesn't know what is there - that is his problem LOL

Bal, that's one gorgeous patch of zinneas. For some reason mine in the front of the bed all turned brown and died. Stupid things...they bloomed their hearts out for a couple of months so I shouldn't be mad. Have you seed the new this year zinneas called Zowie? I bought seeds (10 for a big price too) and they are great - can't wait to save some seed for next year. They are orange and yellow combined...zowie!!

defoe- have a great time on your trip!! Hope the crud passed you by this time.

Darius - yahoo on the test results. Glad the things on your liver are nothing to worry about. That reminds me that I need to ask the doc if there is anything that I need to do in regards to mine. Oh on second thought, I won't ask her. It seems if you ask they make you jump thru a bunch of tests and I just don't feel up to it. My annual physical is 2 months overdue already...drat.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Hello again. What a busy bunch you are.

Maria, I'm so sorry you have pneumonia again. I know that once you have it it is very easy to have a cold go from head to chest in just a couple of days. My hubby has had pneunonia so many times I can't start to count them. Get lots of rest, drink plenty of liquids and be sure to take all the medicine, even if you have some left when you feel better, that is the mistake many people make, they feel good so they put the pills in the medicine cabinet. And then soon they are sick again.

This morning I got a call from my Swiss friend who lives about 40 miles from me. She is also an endurance rider and that is how I met her. She has a friend visiting from Switzerland and they want to come over one day next week and go riding with me. Maybe they will come on the day I will be helping my neighbor move his cow/calf herd. It's about a 5 mile trip and takes a couple of hours and then her friend can say she has been on a cattle drive in the old west, oh, well really the not so old west.

Suzieq, it is sad about the young fellow who was killed driving like an idiot. Had he been drinking? Was anybody else hurt? Also sad about your stepson taking $ and smoking pot. How old is he?

Robert, your zinnias are beautiful. I have tried growning them from seed a couple of times and some bug always eats them. I'll try again, maybe with nursery starts next time.

Darius, that is good news on the liver test. I'm hoping for good news on the next one. We have the same lack of specialists here, we either have to go to Boise (150 miles) or about the same distance to Lewiston, Idaho, Walla Walla, Washington, or 300 to Portland. We do have a good dentist here but if a person needs oral surgery then it is off to one of those other places.

Sarv, it is not good to go to the garage sale of somebody you gave anything to. However, it is also good to remember that a gift is just that, a gift, and now the item is theirs to use, give away or sell. Somebody got good bargains. She would have been embarrassed if you had bought them back. It sounds like you have pretty much recovered from your weekend on the boat.

Babs, ripe tomatoes, woopeee! You'll be the envy of your neighborhood. Be sure to remember what you did this year and do it again next year. How's your Mum?

Meezers, you were wavering about the haircut right there at the end of your post. Did you or didn't you?

This morning when I went walking with Fritz I met a neighbor who owns adjoining land, and much of the land I ride on also belongs to him. He is missing a steer and a heifer, so I have been on the lookout for them but haven't seen any sign of them. I told him I would keep looking, and also told him where I had found a pair of work gloves that he must have lost. It pays to be on good terms with the neighbors.

Well, I have been here too long, there are a few things I should be doing outside, including riding Breezy to see if he really is as sound as he looks. A few miles at a trot should tell me what I need to know about how well his wire cut has healed. I don't think it is going to be a problem. There is a 2 day ride next weekend and I think I will take both horses and go to it. Some of my team had planned to go, so maybe we can get some points.

~~~ for now.
Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)
It is just a bit scary to be that sick at my age oerhaps that is because I am usually very healthy.
if you are interested the kind of meds I am taking peerhaps you known them,
/the antibiotic is Lavaquin. also Prednisone, they are upsetting my stomach
Inhaling with the machine is called Ipatropium and Albuterol Sulfate
Darius, thank you for that lovely card, it lfted my spirits,
Just back in from the mailbox. Well, y'all know today was suppose to be the day my folks were coming? I have to admit I've been a little blue. When I went to the mail box, though, there was a box tucked inside. Now I get all excited when I see a package. LOL Came running in the house and have opened it. I can't read who it's from but I can tell you this ... there's 3 jars of something? a card and ... a lighthouse wind chime!! Wow! My down day turned into a wonderful day. Someone out there was thinking about me and I don't even know why. I won't know who it was till the DH gets home. This is such a nice surprise!
~Elaine~
Hi Maria ... we posted at the same time. I'm glad you felt like letting us hear from you. I'm sending you hugs and hope you'll soon feel better.
The DH is home ... mystery solved!!! I *knew* that lighthouse couldn't be a coincidence! LOL Thank you Bonnie ... you are such a dear sweet friend. :-)
Had to go pick up DGD, no time to cook, so we had KFC tonight. Gonna hit the pool in a minute, cause it is hot and humid here. Got everything packed, so will be ready to get going in the morning.
I01, I was afraid that I would miss an important day coming up, so it is an early greeting. Hope you enjoy!!
I'll be back later.
So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)
Hi, Gang... Back again with yet MORE good news! The so called skin lesions on my back are more of what I've had for years, and NO problem. She called them "barnacles"... Well, I'm crusty enough for them! (But WHY can't they use real terms for adults?) The only real lesion is a benign sebaceous cyst I've had for years and Medicare won't pay for removal unless it gets inflamed or infected.
SO... just the colonoscopy and my dratted tooth to go!
BTW, my doc called in a refill on my antibiotic once her nurse verified that I DO have a dental appt. and that I'm still on the standby list despite missing a slot earlier this week.
The trip was a BEAR, though. It's another Race Weekend at the Bristol Motor Speedway which is about halfway down the road to my doctors. Idiots driving motor homes, campers and fast cars with painted slogans all over them.
Was it Babs that finally has tomatoes? Good Show!
Maria, I've taken prednisone for my lungs. I don't like it, but it helps. People who are on it for months gain weight and sometimes skin problems, so get off it as soon as you can. Of course, I have Albuterol always as a "rescue inhaler" but it burns my esophagus so I take prevacid by prescription. Be Well!!
Bonnie, have a GREAT trip!
BBL
Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)
That's wonderful Elaine. And you got your surprise in 2 installments, first the package, then learning who it was from. Maybe we should all learn to write our names in Braille? No, that would make it too easy and there would be no suspense for you. Do you collect lighthouses? or wind chimes?
Maria, if Babs comes back on maybe she can tell you what all the meds are. I know Prednisone will help clear the gunk out of your lungs, and Albuterol is what is in some rescue inhalers. Eat saltine crackers with the antibiotic, that might help with the upset stomach. Most of them say to take them with food, and I know you probably aren't feeling hungry. You have to force yourself to eat when you are so sick. I remember feeding my hubby when he was really sick, just a few bites, he was so weak he could hardly get out of bed and the effort of getting food to his mouth was something he didn't want to do, so I sat by the bed and would give him bites of pineapple, peaches, jello, cottage cheese, crackers. He would just lay there and chew, but after a few bites would just shake his head. Even chewing and swallowing made him tired. A little later I would feed him a bit more. I think that time he ended up going to the hospital, a trip by ambulance that he doesn't remember at all. We couldn't get his fever down and he was delerious so I didn't want to try to take him in the car. It was scarry. Is somebody coming to check on you every day? Or calling?
I went riding for about an hour. Breezy seems to be sound at a trot, good news. I cleaned off the crusty looking stuff on the edges of his wound and put some ointment on it to keep it soft so it won't crack with movement. It might heal quicker that way. I haven't put anything on it in a few days.
Now I need to get busy. Back at least to read before I go to bed.
Oh yum ... guess what I had for supper tonight? Some of Bonnie's roasted tomato sauce ... and boy is it *ever* good!!! Y'all just eat your heart out! LOL I've got pickled beats and a jar of strawberry preserves to try next. Lucky me!!! Whata friend!
Mary, I collect lighthouses ... and this one is *very* special cause she thought of me while on vacation. Now wasn't that sweet of her. If you ever want to write me ... just print it out on the computer. The scanner will read that just fine. I'm not sure why it doesn't read cards. It might be the ink, and of course they don't read hand writing. When doing seed trades, I try to remember to ask my partner to include the info printed out, but I often forget. If I do remember, I put the instructions and seed pack in an envelope together so I don't have to ask the DH to read it when I'm ready to plant. Unfortunately most of my things aren't organized this well! :-)
Maria, I'm glad there are others here familiar with those medicines as personally I've never had Pneumonia. Please do take care and know you're in my T&P's.
Darius, sounds like things are finally looking up for you. Isn't it amazing how those doctors can scare us half to death with the doom and gloom stuff. I think it's so we'll agree to jump through the hoops and they can make that $$, cause afterall how else can they have that Porsche! ;)
Well, gotta go lick that sauce pot *drool* and load the dish washer. Might be back if I don't fall asleep!
Mary, I know how hard it is to take care of a loved one. My daughter who lives just one hoese up the street from mine, is usually in touch with me, but since school started she has been very busy and I do not want to bother her.
My other daughter is in PA helping her DIL with the new baby but she will be back this weekend I did not tell heer how sick I am she'd only worry
Fortunately I have no temperature, but eating with this med. does make me feel sick to my stomach, Thanks all of you for caring
Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)
Went to a car show tonight with the DH. Once a month they hold this really big "cruise night" at an outlet center. DH gets to see his cars and i get to shop. What an arrangement huh! Must have been a woman who came up with that idea. I did get a couple good buys in the Liz Clairborn outlet. That's one of my favorits. SIL met us there and we picked up DGS to spend the weekend. Tomorrow we are taking him to the fair. The fair had their fireworks show tonigh and we could see it perfectly from the front porch.
Sarv - I don't usually keep bills around, what was taken was change. Probably about $75. I have a big barrel shapped glass jar that I throw change into and save it for special things. We cashed in what we had a few years ago when we went to Mexico and it amounted to about $500.
Mary - I didn't hear anything about the young man drinking, just driving 60-70 mph on a road with a 40 mph limit. He was alone in the car and no other cars were involved thankfully. Glad your horses are doing better.
Maria - Do take care of yourself. Pneumonia is no fun. Hope you are feeling better soon!
Elaine - What a nice surprise!
Darius - Congrats on the good report!
Nitey nite all~~~~~~~~
Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)
Maria, Maria, you simply must get better!! That pneumonia is nasty stuff. My mom took prednisone for Rhuematoid Arthritis. She looked like a chipmunk for awhile but that got better. The RA did not, it never went into remission and after a 12 year battle, it took her. She always took her meds in a tablespoon of applesauce and that helped.
From work, I know a lot of peeps have albuterol inhalers for asthma and emphysema. Hope it helps you get better fast! I've never hear of the Ipatropium.
dfc - motion sickness has everything to do with ur inner (or is it middle?) ear and in the same way, the anesthetic also affects balance, etc. So if you have a high level of motion sickness, you will most likely also be affected longer by the anesthetic drugs. I would guess that those astronauts and mach whatever fighter pilots are hard to knock out. :)
I'm beat so heading to bed. After affects still, I'm sure. Night, night, Laura
Well, a check in before I hit the bed. We have to get up at 3:30, to get to the airport for a flight that leaves at 6:30. It takes a little over an hour to drive to the airport. My DH has volunteered to drive us, so that we don't have to leave a car in the airport parking garage. Isn't that sweet of him.
Mary, glad that Breezy is feeling good, and seems to be sound. So that means that next weekend you will be off to the ride I suppose? Good. I am sure that you are missing being "horseless" this summer.
Maria, I know that when you are sick you don't feel like eating much, but in order to avoid the stomach upset, please make an effort, and besides, if you eat, you will not loose so much strength, and take longer to get over this "gunk". I am sending healing t&p's for you. Is Samson still being the good boy, and watching over you?
Darius, good news, boy you have gotten a lot of that in the last couple of days. And most of it about your health. My mom has those "barnacles" too, and the Dr said they were unsightly, but nothing to worry about.
Babs, great news about the tomatoes. Is your season so short that growing them is a problem? Gosh, if I had know you were without tomatoes, I could have shipped you a bushel.
Sarv, I thought Zennia's grew for anybody!! I have some that are still blooming, and some of them are about 3 foot high. Sure am glad that you behaved at the DIL's yard sale and didn't buy back some of those items. I know, and you probably put a lot of thought and effort into giving those gifts. Usually, anymore, I just go to Walmart, and buy a gift card for showers etc, that way they can get what they want, and it saves me time as well.
M5, how many grand cats are you taking care of? If you have to do a head count, sounds like several. Okay so tell us, did you get the hair cut or not?
Bal, those zennias were very pretty. And I just get winded reading about your projects. Do you ever sit and just relax? I am sure that your DW is very proud of those projects and appreciate your hard work.
I01, glad you like the sauce. Or are you just saying that to keep from hurting my feelings? So do you think it was worth the work? Now I will need to hear about the home made biscuits and the strawberry preserves. Please make enough to set out on the counter for all to taste. I sure hope that you enjoyed the advance gift, and sorry, had I known I would have printed the card on the computer. Thanks for the heads up, next time, you won't have to wait for the DH to get home!! Sorry.
Well, to all I have not mentioned by name, giving you a big hearty ~~~~~ as, I won't post again till Thursday. We get in to Louisville Wednesday night about 11:00, and will spend any time after getting home catching up on what you all have been doing. If there is a means, I will post while in Reno, but I suspect that I will MIA from here.
Hope you all will pray for a safe and secure flight for me and DTS. Will miss all of you bunches, and will think about you on a daily basis. Feel that computer withdrawal already.
Maria, please do take care of yourself. My mom would eat some bread with a little bit of butter on it about 10-15 before taking her meds. Both the prednisone and Lavaquin can cause upset stomachs. If it continues and you are worried you are getting to weak or dehydrated ask your doctor if you are able to take Compazine (sp?). It will help stop alot of it.
Elaine, lucky you. Enjoy and eat up.
Babs, congrats on the tomatoes.
Darius, awesome news. Now to get the same good results from the next test and then a short reprieve until Feb.
Robert, Beautiful flower pics.
Okay that is about all I can remember from what I read. My headache is still here. Going to take something again. I called my doctor, he says since I am prone to migraines this may be a type of them I just haven't experienced before but if tomorrow morning I still have it that I need to go in so he can run some blood tests. So lets all hope its gone. I hate having blood drawn.
~~~~~~'s to all that I missed.

Good evening all,

This will have to be pretty "short and sweet" as I have to get up tomorrow at 5 AM to get ready for a craft fair that's part of an annual town celebration a few towns away. It's generally not that much of a money-maker (drat!), but it keeps my business name in front of people anyway. DH is getting me there, then going back to keep my store open until it's time to come pick me up. Please wish me luck!

Darius, so glad you're getting good news for a change. Now if you could just get an appointment to get that tooth sorted out ....

Suzieq, sorry about your son's friend. How is your son taking it?

Maria, hope you're feeling much better very soon. Thanks for checking in. Everyone gets worried when we don't hear from you for a few days.

Have a great trip, Bonnie (and please say hi to Sue/Connie for us).

I01, glad the timing worked out so well and you got a "pick-me-up" just when you needed it.

V-ann, glad you were able to check in and hope that you'll find access again before you come back home.

Hi to Mary, Sheila, cece, Casey, sarv, kooger, Robert, and anyone else who's lurking out there. Hope you all have a restful night.

Here's the link to tomorrow's thread. Hope you can all sleep longer tomorrow than I can (except for you, Bonnie. Wouldn't want you to miss your flight!)
