Well, I haven't made it to bed yet, just placed an order online for cartridges for my P-touch labeler, and a refill on my allergy meds. So meds will be ready to be picked up at the pharmacy tomorrow.

Well, Just have to ~~~ to any who might be lurking---Let's go to bed.

drive carefu!! :)

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Me too! Got my coffee and heading for the shower. Going golfing again this morning just because I can. Besides we're going to get rained out Friday. I'll drop back in later too, but thought I'd join the early birds to get you all started on a cheery note. Tweet!

Mary, it's still dawn here, sun hasn't come over the horizon yet. Long dark days ahead. Good thing I'm well stocked with books and leftover chores!

Sheila

Waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Yes darius drive safe and good luck with your tests today.

Sheila I'm well stocked with left over chores in this house as well.

Went out walking the gardens. Picked a couple to bring in for bouquets. I'm going to miss that when they're no longerblooming and have gone to sleep for the winter. :( We've 60% chance of thunderstorms from noon today through friday morning. I finally am remembering to take the pruners out with me. Go figure its August All summer long I have had to keep going back for them to deadhead or pick a bouquet. Next year will be the same thing. Will I'vever get it right?

Got some errands to run later on when the banks open up. I've got to get out and do more than just sit and watch the fish go round and round and look at the flowers! There's dividing of the daylilies course I suppose that could wait til spring. I want to get those iris divided to and I'm told I should get it it done before the end of the month. That's getting pretty close now. Kids go to school Sept 1st and thats next friday. Lazy hazy days......I can't get unlazy. Help!!!

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Good Morning all. Just a quick check in, this is grocery/errand day, so will be MIA till early afternoon.

Oz, maybe I could have phrased that a little better, but last night would have been a safe night for anyone to volunteer to go with me!!

cece, GET UNLAZY, the summer is almost gone, got a million chores to do.

Well, I hope you all have a good morning, BBL

Darius drive safely.

Waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

defoe I can't seem to get away from the computer fast enough. Lurking throughdifferent threads takes all my time. This is less strenuous.

edited to add:
I'm watching a new thread also and learning how to wintersow. If I succeed in doing this I'll NEVER get my greenhouse but it'll make up for the Jan/Feb doldrums I always go through.

Good morning,

It's a bit before 8 am here in Vancouver as i write. We had a good dinner and visit with friends last evening. Looks as though DD and future SIL got through several more boxes last evening. They are having a small party tomorrow evening; so there is some urgency to get a few things unpacked. With more boxes unpacked, there are more baseboards that can be washed. And we'll get a scrub brush for the deck railing. This morning we'll catch the sky train into downtown Vancouver to a main branch bank which carries Japanese Yen. And we may be able to get some gift items for people in Japan. Never got time to visit our favourite store in Ottawa before leaving. Then this evening we'll have dinner out with the kids to celebrate our anniversary last week and their engagement.

Mary, we heard, when in Portland, that there are fires in eastern Oregon. Any around you?

Well just looked out the window to see DD about to leave for work on her motorcycle. Quite a practical way to get around Vancouver.

Hope you all have a good day.

Ann

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

'Leftover chores', that pretty well sums it up. I wonder if one day there will be nothing left undone ? Doubt it. Barn is coming along nicely Darius, and glad to hear the helper isn't a dad. A building within a building is a neat way of retaining the flavor of the old landscape with the convenience of a modern facility.

Days getting shorter and cooler, garden slowly going into remission, grands getting ready for school, before too long the leaves will start to think about changing color. Nice time of the year, but then any time you are able to be up and about is a nice time. Should trip out to Lowe's for a load of pavers. Got the sand yesterday and was lucky to get home with it. The kid on the loader decided to give me my moneys worth and overloaded my little Ranger. Thought I heard tires rubbing on the frame all the way back, but it was OK.

'Sposed to go in for a blood draw this morning but forgot that 'fasting' doesn't mean 'after-breakfast'. There's always tomorrow. Since I don't have to get poked in the arm this morning I may as well put shoes and socks on (take note Darius) and get something done. Hope the live-trap has snared that pesky squirrel.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Kooger, I did get your call... on my cell phone which was in the truck charging, LOL. Thanks!

Just got home, forgot to take the house checkbook so I could stop at Lowe's for more materials now that I have decided to wire the new building, so another trip down the road... just not as far!

Bal, I still have my work boots on!

Whew! have been busy today first outside and now in the house. That linen closet looks like someone has been playing hide and seek in there. I love my DH but honestly ... I'm tired of his help and am ready to get him back out in the greater outdoors!!! Bless him, though. :-)

Darius ... hope you had a good report at the doc this a.m. and *good for you* ... SHOES!!! LOL

Ann, good to see you checking back in. I know your DD is glad to have you helping out. How did your hair cut turn out? Hope y'all have a good supper tonight.

Bal, your weather sounds delightful. Wish our temps were that cool. It's 94 here now, but that's not counting the humidity. Of course it's cooling off, so I'll not complain. :-)

Hi Defoe, hope you had a nice errand day today. You really got some wonderful bargains yesterday. You sound like my Mom. If there's a bargain out there ... she can find it! LOL

Mary, glad to hear your horse is doing better now. Hope those fires are no where near you. Sounds like you had a long day yesterday. Did you luck up on any bargains at that nifty little store? How was your Chinese?

Meezers, it's funny ... until recently I never realized what a goff nut you were. :-) So glad your DH took you out for supper last night. Poor guy hobbling and all.

Maria, if you're lurking today ... I sure hope you're feeling better. How did your supper go last night? That apple pie sure sounded delicious! I could smell it all the way down south! LOL

McCool, I sure hope your DH isn't having a relapse with his feet. Is he able to help out at your store any ... or do you *want* his help? ;) Just teasing!

Well, I left a bunch of junk in the floor in the hall, so I guess I'd better get back to it before I get side tracked. If I don't come back ... someone call to be sure I wasn't buried alive in all that mess. LOL

Crap! (pun intended) Now I have to have a colonoscopy again because the one 5 years ago showed lots of polyps. Yuck.

I won't know the results of today's tests for a few days. Today they took what seemed like a gallon of blood although it was just 7 vials, and pressed hard all over my abdomen for the ultrasound.

I ripped my knee open yesterday on a nail Brent forgot to hammer over, and my tetanus shot is out of date. Guess I really need a family doctor. But, the building within the barn is coming along nicely. Brent should be here soon and we can at least get in an hour's work before his suppertime. If I hook up my construction lights we might work after supper. I never made it to Lowe's, so that's a tomorrow chore.

BBL

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well, I haven't been stuck in the grocery store all this time. But when I got home, unloaded it and put it away, I just crashed. Didn't nap, just sat and rested. Fixing supper now, as we have church at 6:00, and that puts a little rush to get it ready by then.

Something happend to DM's lights in the kitchen, so have a call into an electrician to see what's the matter there.

After church I will come back and comment to everyone, ~~~~ till then.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Hi there,

Back from downtown Vancouver. Got our Japanese money, roamed around, got some gifts for the Japanese hosts and had lunch. Also roamed around a large downtown department store. Are back at DD's and are checking for a place where we can get photocopies done and get a couple of cheap carpet runners to protect the floor until DD decides what she wants in her hall.

The haricut will shake up my regular hairdresser (who needs to be shook up). It's short enough to realy get rid of the part that sticks out over my right ear. We changed the part too. One thing that I'm NOT sure about is the amount of thinning she did. I may have little ends sticking out all over, but for now it looks good. The real test is when I wash it.

Ann

Well, I don't know what happened but the parents aren't coming!!! Go figure! *sigh*

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Hi everyone.

Elaine, parents aren't coming, well, your house is cleaner than it would have been anyhow. Disappointing though, when somebody cancels and you really wanted to see them. An explanation would have been nice don't you think? My trip through the discount store was fast yesterday, I just got what I needed, checked my unlucky number and went to the grocery store. That was also fast, no extras, just went down the isles where my items were and no more. I had a lo-mein dish at the Chinese restaurant, it was good but there is another noodle one I like better because it has more vegetables. I was just trying something new for variety. How's your shoulder? I hope it isn't complaining today.

Darius, now it's your knee. You just can't seem to stay out of trouble! I hope it heals up quickly. Waiting several days for test results doesn't sound like my kind of fun. I hope when you get them that they are good reports. Another test, oh just what you needed.

Ann, we are getting smoke from fires but as far as I know the nearest one is about 50 miles away. Last year about this time we sat on our porch in the evenings and watched flames go up a mountain, but we can't see this closest one, it's on the other side of a 7-8000 ft mountain range. That could change with the first lightening storm that we get, usually we don't get rain with them. I think your daughter takes after you, busy all the time and going in 3 directions.

We got our final load of hay today, a short load because he didn't have any more hay of the quality that I like for my horses. He said we could take some tritacale bales off his stack if we need them, after his stack is open this winter. Right now it has a very large tarp over it, something like 100 ft long by about 50 feet wide.

Today I have been having a case of the lazies. I spent quite a bit of time on the computer filling out a questionaire about Breezy. He and I have had a partnership for over 10 years going down the trails together, and they wanted to know about where I got him, what I feed him, what kind of saddle I use, what my conditioning program is, problems I have had with him, good and bad days on the trails, what makes him a good endurance horse, what I would look for in another endurance prospect, and all sorts of things. It will be compiled into something that will be added to an endurance website under a category for Decade Teams. One horse, and one rider make a team. I had gotten into our email via the webmail through our server, filled out the questionaire, then had to figure out how to email it since it hadn't been downloaded into our email program. I printed a copy of it just in case I end up snail mailing it. It's too long for me to want to do it over and I think I did a good job the first time.

Now I really need to get moving, since there are quite a few things that didn't get done today. See you later. Here, catch a wave ~~~.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Uneventful day, no rain, decent golf, need to go water pots and baskets, and it's getting dark already. Couldn't think of what to make for dinner, took out some ground beef patties that were nearing their use it or lose it date. Made up meatballs, browned them good, saved half for pasta sauce later, added carrots and onions and spuds, Turned out good, DH had seconds.

Tomorrow is laundry again. If it doesn't rain I'll hang sheets outside. Might do it anyway. Scattered showers...like today? no rain.

Darius, I swear you are trying to kill yourself. Good news for your young helper, hope the fright sticks with him long enough for him to be careful in the future. Not many people can do drywall by themselves. My son did it when he redid his little house and said it was a bear.

Glad there's no fires near you Mary, smoke is bad enough. You must have had a lot of history to write about Breezy after ten years. He must be a good companion to have lasted so long. Will age determine his ability to do endurance, or is it more related to health? Has Miss AP adjusted to her living quarters? Sammi is getting downright lazy. He was up napping on my bed this afternoon, and Olivia decided she needed him, so she hopped up there. He gave her a good bath, and as soon as she got drowsy, he snuck off the bed and went else where to nap! Her latest trick is trying to catch her tail while she's up on the kitty pole. She sees it but the support is in the way, so she tries to catch it wrapping herself around the support. She also likes to come and plant herself on my chest in the morning when she thinks it's breakfast time. Even if it's four a.m. If I don't roll over and dump her off, she nibbles my chin.

IO1, it's too bad about the visit being cancelled but at least you won't have to clean for a while. I have to keep my DH out of my linen closet too, he doesn't grasp the concept of how to fold sheets. I'm no Martha Stewart, but really, squaring up corner to corner is not a challenge.

Bal, if I have to do a fasting blood test I have to write notes to myself all over the place, NO food after 8 pm. On the frig, on the computer, on the coffee pot.....I have forgotten too many times and had to reschedule. Nice to get your money's worth but I guess the kid didn't do you a favor with that load. I'm always surprised at what a small pile a yard of dirt makes...and even more surprised when it's on the ground looking like no dirt at all.

We didn't hear from Maria today unless I missed it. I hope she is feeling all right. This is the season for sneezing. I'm not a dainty sneezer, sometimes poor DH jumps when I let one go.

V'ann, I always worry about that thinning business too. I have very thick hair, and they do like to get in there with those special little scissors, and the result is usually awful. Little ends sticking up everywhere. This long hair is getting to be a nuisance too, I don't think I'll make it to the wrap it up in back stage. One of these days.............LOL How is the exchange rate with Japanese money? We don't do too well with US dollars any more.

I'm yawning so much my jaw hurts, think I'll make it an early night and take a book to bed with me. And just maybe the cats won't decide that I'm there to provide a trampoline...

See you in the morning.....

Sheila

I'M HOME!!! But man oh man, I am just about dead - I am so tired and my stomach is all hurting from laughing so hard.

Five of us drove up to 'the bridge' (the top part of Mich) and stayed with friends who just bought a home there. We went over the bridge (the one they were gonna blow up last week LOL) and went to the opposite side- saw Canada even! Visited a home one friend was building on Lake Mich, went to her property on Lake Huron etc. Did all kinds of touristy stuff and had one of the best times in my life!!

Just arrived home and everything seems to be in one piece (although I have a sink full of dishes...grrr) Won't crab about that -no sense starting a battle first thing. I brought peanut butter fudge for everyone, so cut off a bite! I ate a whole slab by myself!!

Glad to hear that Brent won't be a dad- maybe that will encourage him to keep things zipped up... LOL (sorry if I offended anyone - just slipped out!!)LOL

I am so exhausted, I need to hit the shower and hit the hay asap... see ya'll later...(good to be home...)

Welcome home sarv!! Mmmmm fudge ... just what I needed to get out of this funk!

It seems I went about the invite all wrong when I asked my sis to bring my parents down first without consulting my Dad first. My reasoning was she's the driver now and I didn't want to mention it to them before I checked to see if she could do it. Now he says he doesn't want people telling him what to do. I'm not mad or upset because I know it's really all about coming to terms with having to deal with the driving issues and I *know* what that's all about. And like you said Mary ... CLEAN HOUSE!!

Ok off to soak in the tub.
~Elaine~

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Sarv, glad you had a FUN trip!!

I need a haircut too. I cut the sides and top myself but don't do a good job on the back I cannot see. Maybe just trim the split ends on back and let it grow to a pony tail?

I can do the rest of the joists by myself, excepting the 2 that are supporting all the lumber pile because I don't want to move that whole pile. Why, oh why, did I use them for the bottom supports? I don't think I can move and align the 5/8 inch sheets (4x8) of plywood for flooring by myself. Rats. I CAN do the 2x4's for the walls.

Someone wanna come and stay with me for a week or two? I need a driver for my colonoscopy, and one for tooth extraction. Maybe more, as tests come in. Great food in exchange!

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Look what I found today. I knew I recognized that little cottontail from a morning a few weeks back. He's not very big and he's hanging in the front yard. I am pretty sure he's too short to be eating the tops off my tomato plants.

Lucky for him he's out in the front and not in the dogs yard. Greyhounds love to chase a rabbit.

I can't figure out what I spent the whole day doing today. I meant to get out and prune the blueberries, but I didn't. I meant to transplant some spinach trees, but I didn't.

I did do a little watering and took a bunch of pictures and probably spent too much time sitting in front of this computer. The rabbit was a total surprise and I am amazed he stayed around long enough for me to get 4 pictures of him.

Good evening my friends,

You've all been busy as usual today and so have I. It's amazing to me that I can get home and start on what I thought was a relatively easy supper menu, only to find that we don't get to eat before 9:30 or so. Made tacos tonight ---- good, but messy! That's one reason why I prefer to make them at home instead of ordering them at some restaurant.

darius, wish I could help you out, but since I don't have a driver's license, I'd be no help at all, even if I could spare the time. I sure hope that there is someone there who can give you a hand. Sorry you've been slated for even more of those interminable tests!

I01, so sorry that you won't be getting the expected visit. Being in the middle like that is no fun at all. I do hope that your Dad comes to grips with the limitations that age has visited upon him and manages a visit sometime soon. Please don't aggravate your shoulder and arm! Even if they do decide to visit in the near future, I'm sure that they could understand that you aren't in any shape to play "Super Housekeeper" at the moment.

Molly, neat picture of the bunny! How are your day lilies doing? How are you doing in general?

Bonnie, I didn't have time yesterday to congratulate you on your great bargain hunting! Good for you! Hope you really enjoy your up-coming mini vacation. Just what are Mr. B and Miss Boots supposed to do in your absence, though?

Maria, are you alright? We all get a little nervous when you don't check in for awhile.

Hi cece. You're not the only one who has a problem getting "un-lazy". Trouble with me is that I don't usually have time to even think about it.

Welcome home, sarv! I'm so glad that you had such a good time. Rest up now and then you have to tell us all about your trip.

Hi to Robert, kooger, and 9kitty. It's good to see you all. How about checking in a little more often? We all miss you.

V-ann, how is it that you can take a "vacation" and manage to work harder on it than some of us do at our jobs? I do hope that the Japanese portion of your vacation really IS one!

Hi, Sheila. It's always good to hear from you. Can't say that I could ever get into golf, but glad that you seem to enjoy it. Do any of your cats get the "evening crazies"? D.K. certainly had them tonight. She's been practically flying up and down the staircase, "brrrrrnnnnng?" to herself, and occasionally hanging about a larger cat's neck on the way, for at least an hour now.

Hi, Mary. I liked that "catch a ~~~~~~~~" Afraid that if I tried to catch a real one, I'd drown! I do hope that the fires stay far away.

Great comment, oz! I also have to agree with your statement yesterday. Yes, the split between the haves and the have-nots is getting ever wider here. The "middle class" is disappearing as we speak.

Hello and goodnight to any of you who like to read this thread but seldom, if ever, comment. Here's wishing everyone a peaceful and restful night! I'll be back in a minute to post the link to tomorrrow's Coffee thread.

Millbury, MA(Zone 5a)

Okay folks -------------- here's the link for tomorrow's thread http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/643279/

See you there!

Oh Darius ... just had to come back and tell you that you were right ... my brug is blooming and I can hardly believe my eyes!! It's gorgeous! I've never seen one before! i'll try to get pics of it as I'm so so proud of it. Thanks to sarv and the wonderful advice ... I think it's going to survive!

McCool, am ~~~ at ya and that supper of yours does sound good. I just love any kind of Mexican food ... especially tacos. Ok ... off to turn the water off on brugie and then I'm *really* gonna hit those sheets! LOL

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well, I am long back from church. Finished a book that has taken me 2 weeks to read, not from lack of interest, but lack of time. Helped DH navigate his new computer games, and got him all settled there, and then showered and read all forums I follow.

The shopping trip with DTS yesterday, may have netted me more than bargains. She had gone to the DR the day before for a sinus infection she says they diagnosed, but why is my throat feeling scratchy, and why am I sneezing,? Me thinks she has more than a sinus infection, and she has decided to share it with me. Sure hope that I can stay well through our trip, don't have time to be sick. Didn't start this until on the way home from church. So am taking Airborne, extra vit c, and am hoping that I can head it off at the pass.

I01, so sorry to hear that your parents aren't coming after all that cleaning and preparation. Does your father have a "stubborn" streak, sounds like he is someone who likes to make his own plans. We know you meant well, and wanted to make it easy for them to visit, but maybe, you need next time to ask first, and then try to coordinate. Not your fault, but now you know that this approach didn't work, try something different next time. My DD was like that, just plant the idea, and let him make the plans, then you do clean up from there. If he said black was white, by durn, then it was, never one to admit that he was wrong, but, I loved him anyway. Wish I could tell him that tonight.

Darius, wish I was closer, I would volunteer driving you. But I think with the trip coming up, DH would have an attitude about me leaving him alone again so soon after. Hope you take care of that knee, don't let infection even think about entering that wound.

Mary, Sure hope that all you have there is smoke. That is bad enough, but don't want you any closer to a fire than you are. That is so great that you have been the keeper of Breezy for so long. People don't realize what a bond that you can form with horses, some of ours are just "big dogs", and want love and attention on a daily basis. DH has been cutting the spent corn stalks from the garden and giving the horses some every night, now when they see his truck turn in the drive way, they go to the spot where he is feeding them, and whenny pitiously when he doesn't produce that "treat". Jade is about a month away from foaling, and it seems getting bigger by the day. Sure hope that all goes well there, and we have a healthy colt. DGD insists that she HAS TO BE HERE when it happens. Sure hope it works out that way.

Sarv, so glad that you had a good trip. Now, can you come back down with us common folks, since you have been living high? Gosh that fudge sounds good, wish I could have some, cyber treats sometimes just don't Do it for me!! I can't wait to see what this house looks like when I return from my 5 days away next week. May have to leave a few veiled threats before departure.

kooger, great looking blooms. Now how long will they bloom, or how soon will frost fall there?

Molly, sometimes "things happen" and it sounds like today was your day. I have lost days like that from time to time, and when trying to account for my time, I really can't produce anything that even closely resembles productivity. Even though that bunny looks small, even the small ones can do major damage in a short while. I would'nt declare him crime free, unless you can prove otherwise!!

Viann, glad that you got a good cut, or maybe after you shampoo, you will be "cussing" that cut. I've been there, and it is never fun to live through the regrowth. Glad you got the money changed, and a gift bought, now all you need to do is count down the time to your departure.

M5, Glad you had a good golfing day. We all need something like that to reflect upon during the long hard winter's nights. That meatball thing sounds good, it must have been, as DH had seconds, that is an unspoken compliment. Compliments from men must be akin to childbirth for women, VERY PAINFUL!! LOL. You must have a hundred laughs a day with the cat antics. Just wish Miss Boots, would even give an indication that she was alive. She is sleeping on my desk as I type!!

Bal, you always have a project going. Just glad you made it home safe and sound with the giant sized load on the truck. Most everywhere around here, you have to argue to get what you paid for, glad you got the "extra measure".

~~~ to Oz, cece, Maria, where are you, are you doing better? and any others I may have missed. And tonight I am going to bed without inviting anybody to join me!! Geez, Oz, get your mind where it belongs!!
Good night everybody, will see you in the morning.
Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)
Well, I am back to comment too, a but first kind of thing!! Bal, glad that you added that phrase to my vocabulary. Thanks.
McCool, as DH will be here, Mr. B and Miss Boots, will be taken care of physically, but they will probably needs lots of emotional reassurances when I get home. Since it will be late next Wednesday night when I get home, can imagine that sleep will be slow getting to me then, as I will have to give them a big dose of "love". Mr B usually requires about 45 minutes to an hour, then I am usually all slobbery, and kissed to death. Miss Boots ritual is much shorter, as she thinks it is very undignified to show much affection. A quick rub around my legs, a 5 minute visit to my lap, and she is good. Always good to know that "someone" misses me.
Those tacos sound good to me. I fix them about once every 6 weeks or so, as DH is not a Mexican food fan.
DGD will be here Friday night through Sunday to "take care" of DH. She has already planned to have spaghetti and hamburgers when she cooks for him. Horror of horror's just pictureing DGD and DH in the kitchen cooking!! Already looking for a cleaning service that will be here before I get home. LOL
Well, I really am off to bed now. Everybody take care, and rest tonight.
Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)
Well good evening to all. I have had a headache since I woke up and it just keep hanging around ruining my day.
I plan on taking some Tylenol PM, a bath and hopefully tomorrow it will be bothering someone else.
Darius, sorry that you have to have another colonoscopy. Never have had one and hoping I never do. Glad that your helper is out of the woods and hopefully both of them stay that way for a long while. Take care of that knee. In fact take care of all of you.
Kooger, my datura's looked beautiful before I left for SC and I have been trying to nurse them back from death since I got back. Yours look beautiful. I am jealous.
Molly, that little guy LOOKs innocent but for some reason I doubt it. LOL
Elaine, sorry that your parents weren't able to come down. My parents had a hard time accepting and dealing with loosing some of their independence when they weren't able to drive anymore. I hid that fact that the doctors revoked his license from him for almost a year before I had to tell him. I just made sure that he had absolutely no reason to go anywhere that would require him to drive.
Sarv, spending a day laughing is a great thing. So glad that it happened to you.
Night to all of you.
Casey
Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)
defoe - the blooms only last a day or two at the most. That's a bummer! We won't see frost till the last week of Sept. usually. :)
