They smell so good! This one is H. gardenerianum, I think.

This one is H. kewense, I think. They may be mislabeled so the names could be wrong.

There was quite a show here last night, and there promises to be more in the coming days. There are lots of buds on my Epiphyllum oxypetalum:

I am finding new inflo's all the time.

It will be a race for most of them to see if they can bloom before the cold sets in. I don't think there will be room for most of them in my little greenhouse this year so hopefully it will be warm enough in the next two months for them to bloom.

Lastly, here is 'Lady Red.'

Clare as a gardener, you are truly blessed!

Thanks once again for the great pictures...

Oh, BTW what does your dwarf SP smell like?
I have a cutting that hasnt rooted yet for me,
but its still in good shape.

Houston, TX

WOW Clare beautiful blooms! I think if I had to pick a favorite it would have to be Tahitian Sunset. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Dave! I am blessed but through no doing of my own;-) I am just lucky to live where I do. I think my climate is mostly responsible for my success. DSP smells awesome! Very sweet perfume. I just rooted a cutting also, and it rooted just fine in this warm condition/climate. I think you will be successful also.

Thanks, Carolyn! TS is one of my favorites also. It reminds me of Sherbert and makes me crave Sherbert when I see it! LOL!

Here is my new seedling flower this evening.

WOW!!
I was wondering what Intense rainbow looked like. ;^)
Mine has a huge inflo and needs about 4 more weeks.
Sodium Halide Lamp standing by!!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Michael, IR has lots of red in the rainbow and differs from, say, Nebel's Rainbow and other rainbows. The blooms are a bit washed out by the sun there. The fragrance is very soft mild peach.

Ahhhh....the Tahitian Sunset PLUS that scent you describe her having...absolute heaven!!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Thanks, Chantell! I like her a lot too!

Davie, FL(Zone 10b)

Very nice Clare you must not get alot of rain :)
Could you take a picture of the sun i forgot what it looks like..
:)

Nice Kahili ginger and the white butterfly..

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Thanks, Robert! The gingers are blooming like crazy right now! I've got some of them in a vase in the house, and the fragrance is wonderful! I took the vase outside to get a picture of it for you to see.

No, we don't get any rain at all in the summertime, and I have to water every day. It is starting to cool off here now. It is about 10 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year. I see you guys in Florida and on the East Coast are getting yet more rain today. Sorry about that.

Very nice Clare...
I can smell their sweet, clean scent from here..
I was afraid to cut mine because H. Gingers can be delicate unlike the Torch gingers..
I have all the ones in your pic in my backyard and they are all blooming like crazy..
Plus i have many more showing off...
Gingers love the rain and will bloom like mad...
I see many peeps in here saying it's getting cooler..
Down here it seems it's getting hotter..
In fact alot of my plumies are going on their second wind and i see many inflos poping out again from plumies that already bloom..
Those seedlings i posted with the Singha beer in the background need to be transplanted again :O
They have roots coming out of the bottom and top of soil...
This will be the 3rd transplant since May of this year..
I cannot keep up with my plumies because of all the rain..
Today 4 of them were rooted into my sidewalk cracks..
My Humic Acid and Growth Hormones really seem to react to cold rain water..
Learn a hard lesson today..
Stuck one of my plumies on my pool deck 6 feet from my back wall yesterday..
I forgot i put her there and tonight after the rain stop i went out to check the bird feeders and was shock that 90% of her leaves were soild brown...
Talk about heat from the deck and wall ouch...
Lessons learn today..
Wood gets hotter then concrete and it holds the heat longer..
This would explain why all my reptiles lay on it all day..
:(

Plumiedelphia, PA(Zone 7a)

I must say as mine has been slowly unfurling it smells more spicy that peachy

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Robert, I didn't know that about the gingers. They don't like to be cut? Can you tell me what you know about their being delicate? I didn't know that about them.

Congrats on all your forthcoming inflo's! I am getting a wave of inflo's too and will have to figure out how to keep them blooming through winter. There will be no room in the small greenhouse for the bigger seedlings, but I may erect something temporary with last year's greenhouse cover.

Ouch, I hope your plumie will be all right. So sorry that it got fried. I hope it is not desiccated!

Michael, it is funny how plumies can smell different from one person to another, isn't it?

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Gosh Robert, I cut my Hedychiums all the time. I wonder why they might be temperamental in your area? Usually I just cut off the flower or the seed head but I often whack them off at the ground level when the stem gets ratty looking. They are considered to be pretty weeds around here; do you think it is too warm at your house?

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

I wack on mine also, I only have the kind you cook with. Years ago I went to the grocery store and brought the root and planted it. Now I'm being over run with it and have to wack on it to keep it contained. It doesn't faise it either.

Plumiedelphia, PA(Zone 7a)

It may also be misnamed lol!!
I know peaches and spicy to be quite different ;^)
I trust your sense of smell. ;^)
Cmon over and giver a whiff!! ;^P

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Clare,
Nice pic of the gingers - this was my first year with them...sadly no blooms...so I'm looking forward to next year. I have less of a selection then you being that only so many are hardy to my zone. But everyone speaks highly of the White Butterfly & I also have Pink Thai Hybrid..think those are the correct names....

Davie, FL(Zone 10b)

Oh don't misunderstand me when i say delicate i mean the flowers...
Do not touch any of the flowers with your hands as your oil and acid from your skin will
kill them or cause them to lose their scent quick..
Gingers are very tough so whack away..
I was talking about the flowers they don't last as long as the Zingibers or the Nicolaia elatior "Red Torch Ginger" .
sorry..

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Thanks for the info. about the gingers, All. I too whacked mine down to the ground when they looked ratty at the end of winter.

Chantell, I didn't have flowers my first year with them either. They just grew and multiplied. This is my second year with them, and if they didn't bloom for me this year, I was going to dig them up. LOL! Thankfully, they are putting on a show. Hang in there with them. They are worth waiting for.

Thanks, Robert, for the clarification. I didn't know that about the flowers. I've heard that is true of some ferns too: the oil from your skin will make the fronds turn brown if you touch them. Thanks for the tip!

Michael, post a picture of yours so I can see!

Here's Celadine:

Thanks, Clare....I said the same thing about my Peony and it exploded this year...hoping the same for the gingers.

Michael - so purdy!!!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Michael, I think I can recognize IR now by petal shape and color now and should be able to tell you if yours is misnamed or not. By the way, I got my IR from FCN. Please post again when it is fully open.

LOL, Robert! :-D

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Michael, it is very pretty. The flower looks pretty light colorwise, but that could be due to the conditions right now. It takes a lot of heat and energy to produce red, and that could explain why you don't have much red on the front.

I am trying to post another pic, but I think Dave's server is being updated, and it won't let me upload it.
