Coffee and . . . . for Saturday, August 19th

Whew ... I can't believe it. I'm not worth a thing anymore. The DH has been busy all day cleaning cleaning cleaning and me ... well it seems I still ain't worth the salt I put on my food these days! Fooie! I just can't understand it. One day I do a certain thing and no problem ... and the next the *same exact thing ... and I'm wimpering like a baby. :-( I *do know I have the *bestest hubby of all, though, cause he's been cleaning carpet all day long. :-)

Maria, please give Samson a great big hug for me and tell him I think he's such a good boy to be taking such good care of you like that. Aren't our furbabies amazing like that? Hugs to you, also.

Wow, all y'all keep talking about that tomato sauce. You *know* you're making me jealous. I didn't have enough to do anything like that with our tomatoes this year. I kept eating them before I could get them in the house! LOL

sarv, I used Messenger on all my stuff this year for the first time also and will definitely be doing it again. That stuff is *wonderful* isn't it!

McCool I'm ~ at you and hoping you're feeling better today. .

Well, I feel guilty for being in here on the puter when the DH is still in yonder so let me by with a big ~~~ for now. Y'all have a blessed one.
Hugs all way round!

Okay, I am back again, just like bad money. LOL

On the messenger and the Mighty Plant. I used the messenger on the flowers, DH used the Mighty Plant on the veggies, and if it was any better, I would be dead. This year has been a bumper crop for all our veggies. So sure hope that there is a coop next year. Somehow, I think I remember that they are reformulating it, and it will be awhile before it is on the market. I hope I didn't dream that.

M5, I agree on the yard sales, especially this time of year, I think everybody puts out the stuff that is just a step from being tossed. On the lavender, I know that some who are taking chemo are very sensitive to smell. So I think it is a nice gesture, but maybe you need to check. A lady in our church who was undergoing chemo couldn't stand the smell of food, so her husband had to go out to eat, instead of cooking at home. Bless them, they both are gone now. About the ball games, ain't it funny that periodically our DH's need to reassure themselves that they can do certain things, ball games being one of them? It is almost like school boys daring each other to pick up a certain amount of weight. Hope the foot doesn't give him much trouble.

Kooger, how very sad for your neighbor and family. I know that they told DMIL that the valves would need to be replaced at some point in time, but since she is 89, don't think that will be a problem with her.

Molly, that is true about the water, it doesn't always fall in a straight line, so hope that it will be dry enough to do the repairs so that it is completely stopped.

I01, know what you mean, one day the bursitis/rotator cuff seems good, the next a different story. What a good hubby you have. I have spots on my carpet, and he just asks, "When are you gonna clean it?" I know probably better for me to do it than for him to soak it so that it doesn't dry for days.

Sarv, those subs sounded really good. And malts for dessert, what a treat. Can you send him my way, I just can't picture a man in my kitchen, least of all one who knows what he is doing. LOL. Mine cut some corn off the cob for supper tonight, and what a mess, I guess he doesn't consider "clean up" as part of the process.

Maria, I am so glad that Samson is being a good boy. It is amazing that they seem to know our moods, and when we don't feel well. Last winter when I had the flu, and I lay on the couch most of the day, Mr. B would lay right beside me, and every once in awhile, would check to see if I was doing all right, by nuzzling my face, as if to say "what can I do". Ain't they sweet?

Kooger, glad that your day has ended. You made me tired just reading your post. The bouquet is very pretty. I wish I was the recipient of that.

Well, I took some corn to DM after I got the kitchen cleaned, another excuse to give Mr. B a ride. He hadn't gone anywhere today, and was ready to visit. He went with me to DMIL's also, and tried to make friends with her calico kitten, but she wasn't having any part of that. He is the sweetest dog, will not deliberately irritate a cat, wants them to make friends and play with him. Then we just had a very nice quiet evening. I managed to read about a 100 pages in a book that I have going. Going to take DM to her church tomorrow, which requires me to leave about an hour earlier than I normally would for my church, so need to get this body in bed.

Hope you all have a good peaceful night, and a good awakening.

Evening everyone,

I've read everything two or three times, and, as usual, will be lucky to remember about a tenth of it.

Had a decent day at the store, but TGIS! See, TGIF means nothing to me except a third-rate chain of restaurants, because in retail there's no such thing as Saturday off. My usual weekend is Sunday and Monday (as long as I can afford to pay part-time help for Sunday and keep the store closed on Monday.)

I am feeling a lot better than I was a couple of days ago, but still using up the tissues at an alarming rate and having to resort to nasal spray (along with the usual antihistamines), so that I can get to sleep at night.

Maria, very glad to hear that you are feeling better and that Samson is taking good care of you.

Woodspirit, hope your back gets better very quickly and glad that you didn't encounter rats and other uckies during your clean-up tour of the historic building.

Bonnie, when are you and your sister taking off for Reno? I ought to know, but just can't seem to remember. Hope you both have a great time there.

cece, good luck with your pond and the fish and plants that populate it. If you continue to have difficulty with the fish, it might be a good idea to just concentrate on getting a healthy ecology going with the water and plants and worry about introducing fish a lot further along the line.

Sheila, do you ever get an errant insect inside the house? A dragonfly flew in two days ago and lasted all of 15 minutes before little D.K. managed to catch and eat it! Yuck. I was happy to notice a lady beetle on my indoors basil last week, but, again, the joy was short-lived as said ladybug decided to take a little flit into the living room and D.K. ended that joyride with one swat of her paw. Too bad she's not equally good with aphids, mealybugs, etc.

I01, yeah, I've also noticed that my hands and wrists seem to have good days and the opposite. I don't know whether or not we tend to do too much on the days when they're not really bothering us and thus bring on the bad days, or if it's pretty much a random thing. Please do try not to aggravate your problems though. In the end, it's not really worth it! Hope that the visit with your parents is great for all concerned.

kooger, nice of you to take note of your neighbor's problems and to do what you can to cheer him up. Sounds like the whole family needs some TLC.

I expect that most of tomorrow will be taken up by candle-making as I have to re-do a large order (color wasn't quite right) and want to get a bit of back-stock replenished. No matter what though, I do have to pick some more string beans as some of them are threatening to go to giant size if I don't get out there and pull therm.

DH has also decided that it would be a good thing if I were to make muffins tomorrow morning. Being a morning person, he has no real conception of my idea of a day off (ie, don't get up until noon if you don't feel like it .... don't hurry to get dressed, or anything else, for that matter.....)

sarv, have a great day tomorrow! It sounds like a great plan for a Summer's day. I sure hope that your weather improves, but PLEASE don't sent it here! I've had much more than I can take of that kind of humidity already this year.

~~~~~~~~~to Mary, katy, darius, dmcd (good luck with Monster, seems he may have been aptly named!), Molly (hope the roof repair is quick and relatively painless), and ves.
I've about had it for today, so Goodnight Gracie and Goodnight to all my friends at DG.
Okay everyone, here's the link to tomorrow's Coffee thread.
I know I have a typo in one of the two, but I'm just too tired at the moment to try to chase it down. See you tomorrow.
