Plant Swap Sept 23rd, Newcastle, WA

Renton, WA(Zone 8a)

I'm starting a new thread with the correct date. There will be a potluck and lots of new plants. Even if you have a new yard and nothing to trade, you'll get free plants. Come about 11am. D-Mail me for address and directions.

Issaquah, WA(Zone 7a)

Hi jburesh. September isn't the best time of year to have a swap for me. Plants are still growing/blooming and I think people are not inclined to dig them up then. Maybe later in autumn or early spring? That's when I would be digging up things and would gladly share at that point.

Renton, WA(Zone 8a)

Pooch,

The Fall Green Elephant plant swap in Redmond is I believe the 1st saturday in November. Would love to see you there!

I have a bunch of blue fescua, coreopsis, yellow yarrow, california poppy plants that need new homes, so those will be up for grabs at the sept swap. Even if you don't want to divide anything yet, feel free to come anyway. It is my first hosting gig, and I'm hoping for a good turn out. :)

Shelton, WA

I am going to try and make it to this. I don't have plants to trade as I am starting over, but would love to take some home..............

Renton, WA(Zone 8a)

bump... To keep active :)

Renton, WA(Zone 8a)

For anyone going to the swap, here is the list of items I have up for trade. If you are interested in something let me know and I can put it aside for you. Otherwise, it will be first come first serve.

3 yellow yarrow
4 shasta daisy
6 orange california poppies
12 blue fescua grass
3 sunburst coreopsis
4 white catmint
3 louden blue lavender (small)
Seeds:
dianthus (white and pinks mixed)
foxglove (white and pink mixed)
red peony poppy

Especially looking for red petioled hosta (or other hosta I don't have), purple homestead verbenum. Though I'm sure there are many plants I'd like that I haven't met yet. make me an offer.

Which yellow yarrow are you trading? Also, I'm interested in some of the blue fescue. Didn't you post that you are looking for hydrangeas? I'm going to be pulling the rooted cuttings out of the veggie filter soon. I can dmail you what I have.

Renton, WA(Zone 8a)

Hydrangea sound great pixy. I have achillea 'moonshine' which I see you have already. How many blue fescue would you like? I'll set them aside for you.

See you in a few weeks

W'Ville, WA

JB: I'd like to make this. I replied at that other forum this a.m., and have my trade listing started there. BTW, I finally have blooms on the Salvia Coccinea--I started the seed too late, but I guess summer isn't over yet. Has yours bloomed?

Froggie: I'll have lots of goodies for you.

I'd like three of the blue fescue if you have them. I'm planning to bring a lot of plants. I pulled the hydrangeas out of the rooting area yesterday and only a few of them still need a little longer before potting. These are rooted cuttings, but I have a number of them.
AuNatural, thanks for the links.
Also, I'll be mailing a box of succulents to two DG members in Pakistan at the end of the month. If anyone has any extra succulents, or cuttings from succulents, that they'd be willing to donate, I'll include them in the package. My friends are Gumlla and Cactuslover and I sent them succulents last year, too. They do not have much availability there, and when they do, they are quite expensive.

aunatural, I'd like some of your eryngium- both kinds. I have several varieties of crocosmia, which I see is one of your 'wants'. I'll bring you some if you want to trade.

Just checked your spreadsheet. I'm also interesed in the veronicastrum and the Pinellia Ternata. If you get another division of the veronicastrum, I'm interested in that, too. I'll work on a list.

Pixy: I've got yours set aside: E. 'Sapphire Blue', E. Varifolium, V. virginicum and the Pinellia Ternata. I'd gladly take any crocosmia that you can spare esp. if they're red or orange. Are they named? Also, would your friends care for any of the sedums? I have plain Jane green matting, the S. 'Cape Blanco' is bluish/green mat forming, and the S. 'Autumn Joy' is threatening to eat a dog.

Great! Yes, my crocosmia are named. I have Emily Mckenzie, and another one that I can't remember. I also have Lucifer. I can bring more of that one as I've had it longer. Let me know if you don't have that one.

I've already sent Cape Blanco to Kaleem and Yasir, but I have not sent autumn joy. I could include a little bit from that, but not too much as it does add a lot of weight to the package and sending to Pakistan is pricey, especially for the unreliability of delivery. I'm not sure if I can send enough to keep the dog from getting eaten!

Looking forward to it!

Pixy,

is there anything I can offer you for some crocrosmia? I'd love some lucifer or any of the others.

Thanks!

Jburesh, I've dmailed you. I thought I had Severn Sunrise in the crocosmia family, but I can't find it, so it's possible I was just wishing I had it. I definitely have Emily McKenzie and Lucifer. They both look great together. I have you and aunatural down for both of them. We're talking 4"pot size of the Emily McKenzie, maybe a bit larger on the Lucifer. I won't know for certain on that one until I dig them.

I have a truly embarassing number of plants to bring (Froggie, bring a truck.) Aunatural, if you want to post my trade list on the 'other' forum, feel free to cut and paste.

also have seeds from Nicotiana sylvestris, purple annual poppy, and Digitalis mertonensis.

In addition to plants, I have some babie shubunkins to give to a new home. They live out in the pond and can over-winter quite nicely. Right now they are about 1 inch long and have all their colors. I also have one or two goldfish babies that are about 2-3 inches long and are just getting their colors. If you are interested or know someone who is, please dmail me.

Pixy: Beautiful crocs. I'll take whichever you can spare.

I'll see you all in a few weeks.

Renton, WA(Zone 8a)

Melissa,

What is your regular email? If you don't mind me posting it for the swappers on the other web site, I will so they can email you directly to setup trades.

Just updated the trade list. I'm not planning to bring all of these to the swap unless I know people want them. Most of them are still in the garden.

What are people already bringing to the potluck? I need to plan in advance so I can make myself get into the kitchen.

Renton, WA(Zone 8a)

Pixy, I've heard so far of a salmon pasta salad, a peach cobbler, and another desert. I'd recommend some sort of main dish.

Tacoma, WA(Zone 8a)

I'm still not sure if I will be able to make the swap. Keeping options open. My house is crazy right now...

Viv

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Sofer - regarding the iris: I have germanica, unlabeled, so I don't know the names.I got them all from Schreiners some time ago, mostly blues, purples, pale yellow & white. My friend mixed them up while helping me dig/divide. You are welcome to what I have.
Black poppies - as in Somnif.? I have seeds - lauren's grape (?). The seeds from the Black Poppy did not produce any black - it was more purple-plum.
I was at Well's Medina Nursery last weekend & they had some nice Kousas. They are expecting a huge shipment of nursery stock to arrive this week & next. See - just in time for you! I recommend them highly.

I'm interested in the bergenia. I have some chartreuse smoke trees, but no babies from them. It's a little late for cuttings, but if you want to try some, I can bring some. I also have some fabulous chartreuse sedum. It's a larger sized ground cover with a white flower. Grows to about 6 inches tall. Also a smaller ground cover sedum that is chartreuse.
I am going to the Weyerhauser plant sale tomorrow and I'll keep my eyes open for a cornus kousa and C. alterfoliafor you.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Katye, yes on the Iris, thank you. I don't need color I can move them when I divide later. My DW would love me if I brought home a dark poppies. Ours that we lost was almost black, some hint of purple. I am going to wells medina on monday but they usually have too big of a specimen. I have to get it into my Passat. I never miss wells medina nursery. I have bought most of my rare trees from them.
Pixy you got the bergina, the chartreuse smoke tree maybe some other time cause I will be in Seattle in the spring next year. Yes on the chartreuse sedum. Yes get me a Kousa, or Pagoda thanks. I have to fit in a Passat. seats fold down so a 6' specimen or a little larger is ok. See if they have a halesia carolina too.

After going to the weyerhauser sale today, I am revisiting and re-doing one of the perennial beds. I have a bunch of the sedum to bring you soferdig. sorry they didn't have any of the dogwoods you wanted. I was really surprised at that!

How about some charming chartreuse ornamental oregano with a white flower? Bright chartreus

Renton, WA(Zone 8a)

I have one little fan of chrinoline bearded iris, and some unknown color of iris (probably bearded) if you are interested in them. I'd love a globe thistle or sea holly (or both if you have some small ones).

-- Jacqueline

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

I know just kidding...

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

I'm living in a motel but I'll bring something like home made cookies, oh and some celery and peanutbutter, and a bag of compost for everyone. LOL I didn't have room in my passat for plants and compost. As I got to my hotel I found a place that I can keep the plants outside so they don't perish in my trunk. I might stop by and drop them off with you jburesh if that would be OK. Monday night I need to go to Puallaup fair with my daughter so it will probably be tuesday. I will be at 425-881-7854. I have no email access here. Just a minute I have Dmail. Oops I forgot.
