Ads by Google banner

Dave, there is an Ads by Google banner that appears just below the tabs. When I go to a thread and do the Skip To New this banner often (not always) appears in the text of the thread. I have to scroll and then go back to remove it to read the thread. I am using FireFox 1.5.0.6 and did not have this happen with older versions of FireFox.

That's strange; I've never seen that. Of course, I have ads turned off so I don't see those things. Google contacted me a few days ago and asked if I would experiment by putting those ad links in the grey bar up there and so we're doing that test. I may take it away.

You can disable ads, though, and then they'll go away for you right now. Go to "My Info" and then Preferences and disable them from that page.

best,
dave

I'm not getting the ads, but curiosity got the best of me, so I went looking for the place in My Info/Preferences to disable ads. I can't find it?

Edited because I found it. Once you click on preferences, you will be in the main category. It's midway down the page.

I think it might be something with Firefox--I'm using Internet Explorer and I have the ads turned on but have not had this happen to me.

It is a minor nuisance. Once in a great while an ad is interesting to me. The position seems to be at the level where it appears on the gray bar. The error is writing it again after the user chooses ship to new because then the messages start much higher on the screen and there is no gray bar. It may be a timing issue as it does not always happen.
