M5~ I love the kitties! We use to have Siamese...they were so unique and fun. We're babysitting Dick and Jane my son's new kitties. The twins...10 yrs... are spending the night so D&J will get plenty of attention. We're having Double Chocolate Cookie Crisp before bed....I so love having little overnighters. The cute little blonde...3 years...comes at 4am so we have to finish up and hit the hay. Getting ready for another camping adventure, closer to home this time.

Check out the fish pinata in this pic....it was amazing. We wouldn't let the kids hit it, she had to throw her candy. We're giving the fish to our friends who are opening El Caparell in Everson.

I guess I must be the only one up at this time this morning. Got up early for there is much to do in the house today. Got a little rain last night but haven't been out to check the gauge yet as its still too dark. Supposed to be pretty cloudy with a chance of thundestorms this afternoon.

Didn't get hardly anything done yesterday. Couldn't find a way out of the doldrums but feel a little better mentally this morning. Hopefully I'll get yesterdays projects plus todays done by the time DH gets home.

Ttyl have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone- cloudy and cool here- feels good- however I am a sun person,so hope it eventually comes out!

Darius- good that you visited the doc and got some answers. We expect sweet dreams now that you'll have one of those 'machines'. When I had my gall bladder out the surgeon told me I have a golf ball size cyst on my liver - even gave me a pic of it. She didn't seem too concerned about it and I've never done anything about it. Hmmm...wonder if I should be concerned!! I hate medical stuff-seems if you question something you end up with a zillion tests. I usually wait until I feel crappy - then go to the doc...

DH is in a funk and it is tense around here. He has a very short fuse right now. Usually the reason comes out in a few days-usually work related. But I hate times like this- he is one of those 'non talker' people - unlike me that blabs everything... Guess we'll live in silence for awhile longer.

Just heard the news about the terror stuff going on in the UK - yikes, here we go again!

Our neighbors have a bat box up in a tall pine tree. Several bats come from there, but we've found a couple hanging in our barn too. I don't like coming face to face with them, but do enjoy watching them swoop at sunset.

Maria- I've been missing what you are serving for dinner for your family.. And what naughty deeds has Samson been up to? Wouldn't it be great if we all live close enough to gather round the table for 'coffee and gabbing'!

Mc - I forgot- what did happen to DH feet? And three more weeks off them....sounds like a sit down job would be better. At least you get some disability!! DH has no benefits where works - other than showing up when he wants and taking off when he wants. Guess those are some benefits, but they certainly don't pay the bills!!

Well, time for breakfast...(I'll check out the mango ice recipe...sounds good!)

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

cece - thanks for the pictures, especially the rose. Great way to start off the morning.

Woke up to hear that Heathrow airport has been all but shut down by terrorist threats.

Quoting:
British police have arrested 21 people in connection with a bombing plot they say would have caused "mass murder on an unimaginable scale" on commercial aircraft flying from Britain to the United States, a senior official said Thursday.

"This is not about any particular community. This is about mass murder," Metropolitan Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Paul Stephenson told reporters in London.

Stephenson said the suspects intended to blow up flights in the air with explosives smuggled in hand luggage.

I guess flights are now going, but all hand luggage including purses is having to be checked and they've run out of baggage containers. Chaos.

Hope you all have a better day than those travellers.

Good Morning All..........no I have not disappeared and yes I am way behind in reading threads but there is always this winter. LOL It will probably take that long for me to catch up. Life just has been a bit crazy for me and I decided that family and home just might be more important than my DG and "Coffee and...." friends.

While reading some of yesterday's thread I saw someone post about pizza sauce and thought "great minds think alike!!" I was just getting ready to dig out my recipie. It has been 20 years since I made this but we loved it. You can can it or freeze it. I am sure if you don't like too much of one ingredient or want a little more of another it is adaptable. I will probably use Splenda in mine when I make it. The parmesan cheese really makes it, BUT be sure to turn the heat off before you add it or it will stick to the bottom.

Pizza Sauce

15 qts. tomatoes peeled & chopped
5--6 med. onions diced
3--4 green peppers diced
10--12 cloves of minced garlic
cook these ingredients together till tender and cooked down a little. Then add after heat if off:

1 TBSP thyme
1 TBSP Red (hot) pepper flakes
1 TBSP Oregano
18 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup parsley flakes
6 12 ounce cans of tomato paste
1 8 ounce can parmesan cheese

Turn heat OFF before adding the above 8 ingredients to the cooked mixture. Stir well and put in jars. Process 15 minutes in canner. Yield appx. 30 pints. I usually do it in quarts so adjust time.

M5, I have a question because of my slackness. Are you moving? Or is this a ploy to keep from adding a dog to the household. I like the idea of "Nopuppy Lane". I like dogs as long as they don't bark and are old and comfy!

Belated birthday wishes to 9Kitty and those I may have missed. Welcome to the new GOB's. Glad to see OZ survived his over heating, hope you didn't harm your sense of humor!

Must go water and check the beans..~~~~~~~~~~to all.

I hate news like that . Makes one feel so insecure in our world. Yesterday we got a leter in the mail inviting my 15yo for a 19 day study trip to England and France with the people to people. Now I hear this?????????? I don't think so. Even if we could come up with 2500 dollars. I just don't think so. Would be a nice opportunity maybe but worth his life??? uhuh.

Dsrius your medical news was good, I think. Hope you sleep better once you get that machine. When my twins were born 18 years ago they both had sleep apmea and had them on machines for the first two months that would sound off an alarm when they quit breathing. One or the other was going off all the time especially during the night. The alarm in theory would jolt their breathing mechanism into responding also woke me up and so when I wasn't feeding babies I was being woke up 10 15 x's a night with that thing.
Course it was only really bad the first few weeks. I was glad to see Leah off course I could have done without the reason fhe was taken off.

Morning All!

sommermoone nice picture and great fish. Have fun camping. I'm not a camping girl.I like indoor plumbing. I live in the country and see enough around my house ! Have fun!!

cece nice pictures. Look at those trees you have.Your DH has plenty of grass to mow. You've got room for a few more beds. No rain for us. I might have to water today. I think I'm ready for that.

ViAnn thanks for the news update. I haven't been turning the tv on during the day so I'm really behind on the news.

joyous thanks for posting the pizza sauce recipe.

My day is kinda planned like cece's. Had a very unmotived day yesterday. Will feel good to get out there today. Even if I have to spray to keep away mosqitoes.

Everybody have a good day!

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Hi all. Nice day again here - 60 and sunny, will get up to 80.

I'm SO glad DD#1 is home from Nicaragua even though she would not have had any flights in the terrorists flight path. I just hate hearing those stories, they unfold so fast and I can't imagine being in the airport ready to go, and having to worry about it,and wonder if you're getting the full story. Seems like things just get "normal" and here we go again. Same with gas prices. I'm glad I'm not a traveler....

darius, overall pretty good news. It will be relief to get the apnea solved. Are the suspicious lesions something a dermatologist can remove with a local? Our generation is paying the price for too many UV rays! I was not much of a beach person, although I had a few good sunburns over the years. Better to just get rid of whatever you can, early!! How is the tooth?

I didn't get much done yesterday, a couple batches of pesto in the freezer, so maybe I'll can some tomatoes while it's cool.

~~~~~see you later!!~~~~~~~
So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)
Good Morning. Slept like a rock. After Brent gets started on his list today, I need to go to town and drop off my prescriptions. One is for an antibiotic for my tooth. Once back home I need to see about a dentist and getting the CPAP.
BBL
Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)
Hi again,
Back from aquafit. Might have a meeting here this evening which means I have to get serious about picking up the house.
Morning paper had an interesting article and more trivia for today that wasn't mentioned on any of the sources I looked at. Today is the feast day of San Lorenzo ( aka Saint Lawrence or St. Laurent) for whom the St. Lawrence River was named. For those that aren't up on North American geography it is the major river leading from the the Great lakes to the Atlantic and much of it is a dividing line between the US and Canada. San Lorenzo was Spanish, but since a French explorer named the river, the French name of St. Laurent (pronounced San Lor-ON) is frequently used in these parts. The rest of North America will say Saint Lawrence.
Hi Joyous. Nice to see you back. Interesting Pizza sauce recipe. But did I read it right - 18 teaspoons (6 TBSP) of SALT??? Is that a high blood pressure special?
Cece - if we all huddle in our homes afraid to go anywhere, we play right into the hands of terrorists. More and more, they are being detected before they can do something and you still probably have a better chance of being hit by a car or being in a car accident than being the target of a terrorist.
That having been said, remember when my handbell choir played at the US Embassy last December? We had to unload all the hand cream, hand sanitizer, etc. from our purses. That's exactly the same rationale as making people check their carry on luggage.
Dorothy - how do you make your pesto? My basil is finally growing. Glad it's sunny down your way. We've got showers - though it appears to be brightening a bit.
Hi to Darius. Glad you are getting an antibiotic for that tooth and making a dentist appointment.
Kelly also sees a dentist today. Hope all goes well for her.
Well, on to productive things. BBL.
Ann
Himrod, NY(Zone 6a)
VAnn, double checked the recipe and yes, that is what it called for. I know it is an old recipe so maybe they didn't worry so then. I would say it is one of the ingredients that you can adjust to your own taste and needs.
Thanks for pointing this out!
Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)
Hi all
I use the Silver Palate basil pesto recipe doubled
4 c. basil
8 cloves garlic chopped
2 c. pine nuts, walnuts, or mix of both(or neither!)
Grind those up in the food processor
Slowly drizzle in, while the processor is running
2 c. best quality olive oil.
Mix in
2 c. shredded parmesan (I use Reggiano) and lots of fresh ground pepper, sea salt to taste.
This fills 2 plastic ice cube trays. When it's solid I pop the cubes into freezer bags. All my recipes are adapted for basil cubes now! Kids like to nuke them and add to bread or pasta. instant yum for the winter!!
dmc that sounds soooooogood. I must try that.
You know.....all this talk from everyone about veggie gardens is getting to wishing I put one in. Next year I just may. Which are easier for beginners such as myself who's never had a veggie garden?????????
Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)
Good Morning, almost noon, I purposely have not checked in today, in order to get started on doing something with this house. I have everything cleaned up to the kitchen and laundry room. Had to take a break, and wipe the sweat from my brow! It is so funny around here, that everybody wants a neat and orderly house, and they don't know how to pitch in and pick up the messes they make. Or I suppose in their eyes, I do all the messing and dirtying, hence I am the one to clean it|!! Oh, well, woman's work is never done.
I really think M5 is packing today, so let's not bother her, and let her feel that her destination is unknown! Mamma dog is getting "fatter".
Darius, glad you got some answers at least. Hope now that you can get that CPAP, and rest easier.
dmc, glad your weather is mild, it is gonna be hot and humid here today, may eventually get out and do some weeding later.
cece, enjoyed the pics.
Sarv, my DH is like that too, but eventually, he will vent, then I know what is wrong. Makes everyday living difficult before that though.
Joyous, glad to see you back. Sure family is more important than DG and coffee friends.
Viann, I try not to let the terrorists threats interfere with what I want to do, because if I sat and worried about stepping foot out of the house, I am the prisoner. DTS and I are going to Reno on Aug 26, and will not worry about the flights needed to get there and back.
~~~~ to sommermoone, scooterbug and ves, have to get back to the cleaning.

Just peeking in to catch up. Yakking in Chat this morning before I take 2/3s of the dogs to the vet.

Darius, Smoke is annoying me frequently with his smoke alarm imitation. Really pierces the ear drum. That and imitating Jeremy beckoning me.

Lexy is pacing the windows looking for him, he's been away a couple days.

LOL, been busy switching address signs with the neighbors so when the "Package" arrives from Bonnie it will get delivered to someone else!!
Didn't sleep worth a darn last night so spent most of the earlier hours, flopped on the bed watching a taped movie and trying to catch an additional forty winks. Didn't work, so I finally gave up, stripped the bed and am hoping to hang sheets outside to dry before it rains.

Yes, that does sound like a lot of salt. I tend not to salt much when I'm cooking (except for pasta water where most of it goes down the drain at the end) as DH grabs the shaker before he even tastes the food. I do use a lot of other seasonings though, which makes less salt palatable.

I don't know that additional airport security would impact my travel, I think the odds are pretty heavily weighed in favor of safe travel. Plus, if my time is up, at least I'll be doing something I enjoy! Considering the number of planes in the air at any given time, I don't consider it dangerous. If it was a threat in a subway or underground facility, I'd be pretty wired and not want to be there.

Bonnie, when I had kids at home, I did a general pickup and anything that was out of place, shoes, clothing, books, whatever got dumped in a big box and had to be retrieved by the owner. I wasn't about to try to return all that junk to where it belonged. And I put the box in an inconvenient place, like the basement so they had to work at it. We have kind of a long half wall, 36" high,in the laundry room along the stiar well. DH likes to pile up odds and ends on it. Sometimes I collect those and put them in a box, too. Souky likes to jump up there to survey her kingdom ....and things get bounced down the stairs. No, no, not me......Souky did it!

Darius, the cpap device will make all the difference in the world in your overall health and energy levels. Although it seems to me that you already accomplish a lot, when we see what you do every day. Hang a note in your truck about the water sample. I'm always sticking notes in my car as by the time I get out on the highway and remember something, I am reluctant to turn around and go back! I had bags of Goodwill donations in my trunk for a week, so it doesn't always help to get the stuff to the car.

It's late enough in the morning that I think I can pass off breakfast as brunch, and skip making anything for lunch. Maybe I'll make big fried egg sandwiches, with ham and lettuce and tomato....

Thought I killed that laundry monster, but he's back in full force. Kind of like Freddie Krueger....just keeps coming back.

~~~~ to all, and cautioning Ernie to be careful in this heat, we don't need to lose any of our friends. And welcome back to Joyous, nice to see you make an appearance. Family still comes first, so it's unanimous that anyone can take a break to tend to necessary things and feel free to come back and be welcomed.
Going to kill the monster. BBL
Hi Molly, just missed you! Smoke is the parrot? LOL, can't you teach him some sea chanties? Yo ho ho and all that?
Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)
Sheila,
That's funny, yes, Smoke is my Afrcian Grey. He teaches himself what he wants to hear himself say. He's done back up alarms of dump trucks, cordless and cell phone ringing (Columbus Day Ragata on the boats had them jumping for phones, and yes, my birds came on the boat too) knuckles on front doors, coffee pouring in the cup, "Hey Baaaaabbbyyy" and my favorite right now "Mom........mom.............where ya at?" all in Jeremy's voice.
Never lonely around here, always someone to talk to.
cece- A couple tomato plants, two or three well tended basil plants (in containers even) and arow of beans will give you plenty. I put my basil plants into black plastic mulch. One plant will yield 6-8 cups of basil leaves if you let it go until now (I don't let it flower though). Otherwise, you can pick as you go.
We find potatoes very easy and productive, they just require a fair amount of space. Two short rows of wax beans gave me seven lb. of beans. I just yanked the plants. I hae eight more rows coming, plus three trellises of pole beans. We like the pole beans the best and they yield a long time.
you can get quite a bit from even a little space...or you can be like defoecat ;-) who I'm trying to catch up with (yeah, like I'll ever get there!!)
south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)
defoe- did we marry brothers??? I honestly don't know how this has lasted for 37 yrs...We go thru this cycle over and over....grrrr right now I'd like to give him the boot....
Now to more pleasant subjects. I picked a ton of green peppers this morning - .gonna make a batch of stuffed peppers for dinner. I didn't mulch the peppers this year and I hink that is the secret to a bountiful supply of them. Our corn is ready too, so a dinner from the garden is on the menu for tonight for sure!
Sevined a bunch of japanese beetles this morning. I honestly thing they breed overnight just to annoy me. I even had some land in my hair - YIKES I hate that!!
Our sun peeked out and then went in hiding again - still humid out tho
Oh dear - just remembered it is DSF birthday today - # 82 . I need to give hima call and see what plans they have for tonight. If I remember correctly - they play cards on Thurs. I'll have to plan a pizza night and invite our kids over tomorrow...
Well, I need to raid the frig and see what I can have for lunch..
So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)
Sarv, thanks for the note that you have a cyst in your liver with no problems. Makes me less anxious. I see the Gastroenterologist next week on the 18th, yet another trip to TN.
Yesterday I got some Roma tomatoes and have been cooking the roasted tomato sauce all morning. Three 9x12 pans full so far... man, it doesn't make much sauce! I plan to can some of my abundance of zucchini in chunks with this sauce. Wish my freezer was here, I'd rather freeze it although either way the zukes are mushy.
If I can get more Romas when I go to TN next week I will make up some spaghetti sauce. Have to have something to eat in winter besides my hoard of dried beans and rice! I paid $9 a bushel, and Kathy (MistyMeadows) said they are getting $20 for half a bushel. Of course hers are organic. I only have a few regular tomatoes on my vines, none ready to ripen. Lots of cherry tomatoes but doubt I'd get more than a pint of tomato juice, LOL.
I have 3 different kinds of garlic to plant but I want Brent to till half the garden bed again first. As long as I get it in by mid September, I should have garlic to harvest next year.
Las Vegas, NV(Zone 8a)
Molly~My cousin has some kind of talking bird too. We house sat and that darn bird has the beep of the Nextel phones down! For the first day it drove me nuts, I couldn't figure out whos phone was beeping and why no one would say anything. He has a few naughty words in his vocab, whistle for the dog and I don't know what else..oh ya..FRANK! FRANK! My cousin's wife calling him:)
Anyone~I have some kind of purple basil..is it eddible? I thought it was then I think I read somewhere it's decorative. My DA pulled all my tags...she's a neat and tidy little thing...drives me nuts! When you leave you have to check the trash when you get home! I found a great cane at a yard sale that the owner had carved a point on the end and used it for planting so he didn't have to bend....saved it to see if it would be something Ernie was interested in...found it in the trash this weekend. GRRRRRRRR.....DH and I are getting pretty good at trash can scavengering (I'm sure that's not a word but it's what my mind came up with).
CeCe~ What's the name of the first plant? I have an all green one, Ernie has the varigated colored one and I gave him a green....we don't know what they are.
Ernie~CeCe's first pic is the plant I gave you....the same as the one coming up on the flower side of the yard...OK, there are flowers everywhere...but the garden is on the left, north...the flower side I'm talking about is right, south.
Next week I have days to help out...let me know..I'll give you call..haven't seen you here in a while. Tell Linda and the Golden's hello....I'll bring them a bucket when I come:) I still have your 8 foot poles too for next year's tomatoes....just have to figure out how to get them out there...wait! My DSL has a suburban with a roof rack....duh!
Raining semi-hard here....we needed it...needs to clear up for this weekend's camping trip though!
We all hate to hear of the horrible terroristic crap but as everyone says life has to go on or they win. I still wouldn't be putting my kids on a plane to Europe....I'm too paranoid that way. I'd still get on the plane to Hawaii or Vegas but.....I know same thing...but.....
Any ideas out there for a cool camping trailer?
Ves~ I love camping but must have a flushy potty where ever we go. I've done plenty of the other type and a couple rough camps...no thank you! We go to State campgrounds or KOAs......electricity, water, flushy potties and showers. I like the one we're going to this weekend in Ferndale, WA...nice pool and not filled with so many kids that it is crazy. We have the most kids I think:) Although there will be some soccer teams there this weekend. Although they tend to be gone during the day. We have a trailer space in the top upper left of the pic and tent in the field top left. Lots of room for the kids and games...Fiesta theme...same as Oregon...next year's theme in Oregon is Ho-Down...we usually try to follow here beings we already have the stuff. My thought for here next year is Cowboys and Indians....My Mom's fam the cowboys....my DA's fam the Indians...my DU is a direct decendent of Chief PatKaNim of the Snoqualmie tribe. He is the tribe representative and even has a copy of the original treaty. It's been very interesting to the info he has collected over the years.
http://www.accessgenealogy.com/native/tribes/salish/snoqualmiechiefs.htm
Gotta go pick up the twins who went home last night...Hali had a tummy ache....No! Not because of the Double Choc Cookie Crisp......She didn't eat hers...I think it was because of the Mexican dinner they had before they got here....you know, gas......Dang...two calls in two min...twins want to come back. Have a great day folks! K~
Somermoone The first pic os of elephant ears and my Canna 'Tropicana" I've been lucky to have it grow 3 summers in a row now. I'm not putting my kid on a plane to go to Europe.Nuts over there. I forego a trip2 years ago because I'm not really all that hepped up on flying. Flew twice in my life. onceto vegas and once home from vegas. Course thinking about it those flight attendants probably had funre-telling of my escapades. I was something else. Ed was in stitches all the way there. Thats just a few hour flight nothing compared to what I imagine a trip to Europe would be. I'm with you. Camping and I don't mix unless I have electricity for my hair dryer and a potty with doors. The last time I camped was uh...................35 years ago??? 15 I was forced to go. Dad had a fitwith makeup? what for whos gonna look at you besides the bears......that did it for me I stayed right outside the door of the tent. As far as I"d go alone. I know pansy.
Just in for a sec to see what everyone's up to and of course y'all have been chatty again today. :-)
Ann, that lemon basil is very good with stir fry, pasta and also with rice. I like to make a sort of rice a roni thing with fresh herbs using chicken stock and some white wine if there's any in the house. I use brown rice and brown? it a bit in some butter and olive oil and add the herbs ... then the stock/wine (just a splash of wine if used) and put a lid on. Simmer until liquid is absorbed. Sprinkle with extra herbs on top. :-)
Molly, toooo funny about your Smoke. Reminds me of a naughty joke I heard about a preacher that bought a talking bird. Hmm, it made the rounds through Email so enough said about that. LOL
Darius, sorry about your mixed bag of reports from yesterday, but my Mom has had a cyst on her kidney now for a couple of years with no complications other than a bit of discomfort. I hope it all works out. Sounds like your garden is coming right along. Bet your kitchen is smelling good today. :-)
Defoe, how much did you wind up with after your cooking expo yesterday? All this talk about tomatoes has me drooling. Mine are just about finished now. We didn't plan a fall garden because it's been soooo hot. I may regret it, but can always go to WM and get a couple of plants if I decide to. I know I don't want 23 to take care of next spring. My hat's off to Susan and anyone else with big beds that are having to water by hand. All my things are in pots, and it's difficult to stay on top some days.
Joy, it's good to see you, and yes ... family always comes first. :-) Pop in when you can, though and tell us how things are going.
Meezers, don't forget ... I've got your address also. :-) hehehe *You can *not hide. LOL That sandwich sounded good. I just had a bowl of cereal today.
Well, let me get up from here and check on the weather. I think I'm hearing rumbling out there. :-) We're back in that afternoon pattern of showers which I certainly don't mind ... but I could do without all the sound affects. Actually, a lot of the time it's mostly false alarms. :-)
~~~ for now.

Hi everyone. Scooterbug, lol at trash day, big event, huh?

Summermoone, nice fish. You and your family are always doing or planning something, you must have a lot of fun. My family isn't close at all and I don't think I had a birthday party until I was 16 and then it was my boyfriend's mother who made the cake and did it all. I guess I was just lucky that we did observe Christmas.

Sarv, just think, a noncommunicative husband is just an opportunity to do whatever you like for a while because he won't say anything. Could be a blessing in disguise.

LOL at the talking bird stories.

We used to have a box for things that were left in the wrong places, and the kids had to pay to get them back. You know, it's like getting your car impounded for parking it in the wrong place. Sometimes they had to wait to get their allowance and then most of it went to retrieve stuff they wanted out of the box. Sounds like real life huh, well that was the idea, besides keeping the house a little bit neater. One of the before bedtime rituals was to go pick up anything they didn't want to land in the box.

Today I'm watering, picking up more broken hay bales, checking on the cattle, riding Patch. Already doctored Breezy's foot and pulled some weeds, took Fritz for a 20 min walk. He has learned that he has to make his pit stops quickly because I will give him one or two long ones to get the bladder pretty much empty and then if he wants to decorate the roadside weeds he is going to have to shoot as we go by. I have one of those retractable leashes that has about 15 feet of line, and he is usually at the end of it, and if it was twice as long he would still be at the end of it. So in the time it takes me to walk 30 feet that is the amount of time he has to make his statement. With male dogs everything is a social occasion.

Got to go move the hose again, then get the hay. See you later.~~~

All cleaned up and no where to go!!

LOL Mary - that is a good one!! (non-communicating DH) (today I think I will take the D off)

Had planned on having a BD party for DSF tomorrow and inviting all the kids over for pizza and sundaes. Had it all planned and DM just called and said she forgot - they had a concert to go to tomorrow...they lead such a gala life!! Postponed the party until Tuesday...

Darius- my cyst is on the outside of my liver. I can't feel it, but in the pic it looks huge and mighty ugly...It can't be my big pot belly can it?? LOL

I'm a camper and have done so for years, but with a bed off the ground, potty, micro and two tvs!! Did the tent stuff when I was much younger and was able to get up off the ground. Now I camp in luxury...nothing so grand as sitting round a campfire making s'mores with your friends.

DH just came home from work and hasn't said a word to me - the silent treatment I think. He'll talk when he asks 'what's for dinner' LOL

Time to go feed DS's cats...

You guys keep talking about basil I think I'm going to have to check it out and see what I'm missing. But not this year that'll be a new plant for me next year.

cece try a few vegies next year. Put a tomatoe in a lg. pot Another pot you can have a cucumber. Leaf lettuce will also do good in a container. Climbing beans also. I love to walk about in the garden and grab a young bean or a ripe tomato.[maybe that's why there's not to many tomatoes yet] Iremember as a kid going to other places that had gardens and pulling a carrot and just wiping it off and eating it[wouldn't do that now] or grabbing a pea and eating it. My gosh for a town kid that was great fun. Good memories! Think about it you don't have to go overboard.

The bird stories are great!

sarv48 I don't think they made to many molds for men. That's why they sound so similiar.

m5 they are going to get you. Sounds like no hope to me.

sommermoone love the term flushy potty. I've learned alot of new words since joining DG.

Went out to the bank and post office and to a place that sells expensive sandels. My Mephisto sandles look like Birks but are narrower and fit my foot better. They are also getting old. Turns out they didn't bring the style I have in; so they are not covered in the sale. Might as well wait until next year to replace them.

Well, back to house cleaning.

cece - I agree with ves. I have eaten my fill many a time in the garden. Whatever comes to hand goes into my mouth, and I love it. My Grandmother put up a small round of wire - about 24 inches across and 48 inches tall - planted about 6 greebeans, and had fresh beans at least once or twice a week. She didn't want to mess with canning or freezing at that time, just wanted some fresh, and they were *good*! Tomatoes can be grown in a haybale! There are lots of companion plants that don't take up much space - greenbeans, corn and squash make a good hill. Problem there is you *do* need a fair amount of corn planted for it to pollenate properly. Garlic should be included to help repel pesky insects. Did you know that garlic planted in with Roses will help reduce aphids? Carrots and tomatoes are good together also.

Yes, I know! Info overload! Just pick a few veggies you really like and go for it. All you need at first is enough for a few meals while you learn.

I have printed the recipes and they are in my *to be tried NOW* file. They sound so good, but I think I will adjust the 18 tsp of salt!

Got run, DH is tearing up the front hall floor and I need to put in an appearance!

Those darn hummingbirds are going to eat me out of house and home. Filled the feeder at 6:30 this morning and it is just about empty again. I love every minute of it.
