Hyperlinking malfoogerty...?

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Hmmm. Something's up.

While trying to insert a link DG doesn't accept it but rather inserts a link to the very thread I'm posting in.
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/629909/

I even went to the TEST forum to see if it was me or something, did a test, and again the link took me to the Test Forum.

(The above link should be "davesgarden.com/forums/t/629909" with the http: in front, of course.)

Darn. It works in this Forum. Will go back and try it again in Test Forum as well as the Carolina Gardeners Forum.

Stepped in what???

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Hah! you Dawg! I said "Somethings" up, not "Stepped in!" Sheesh!

Go give it a try for me, will you BS?

Thanks.

Shoe, I typed http:// and the link above and when I previewed it, it went to the "come sit a spell post". Is that what you were trying to post?

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

OH, I forgot to say, I started a new post in the Carolina's forum when I did the above. I didn't follow through with the post though. I previewed, checked the link then got rid of it.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Nope. What I mean is that when I was in that "porch" thread, I tried posting a hyperlink (from Google). The hyperlink showed up as correct during Preview but when Sent it showed that whole thread, not the Google link. Go to my posts in that thread (sittin on the porch) and you'll see what I mean. Thanks!

That funny you should have this problem, I have noticed it a few other times in the past on other people's posts and just assumed they goofed up somehow and got their links wrong. So maybe there's some kind of odd glitch that happens from time to time.

Sorry I ran off on ya big guy! Had orders to get out and then my motherly duties kicked in. ;)

Sometimes really long addresses like ones on a Google search just don't translate well when they are copied and pasted. Mapquest ones are awful too! Would it be possible to link to a part of the site with directions to get to where you wanted people to go?

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Okay, thanks! Yes, it was a very long link. (It linked to many other links so that may have been the problem, not just one site.)

Calif-Sue, yep, that may have been the problem with the other posts you've witnessed.

Thanks Folks!

This happened to me last night when I tried to look at a hyperlink on someone's post. It just brought the same thread back up. I thought I had done something wrong so I clicked on the hyperlink in 'that' thread and, once again, the thread came back up. Please don't ask me which thread, that was many thoughts ago.

Shoe--malfoogerty--you have such a way with words. I always like reading your posts, they make me smile after a stressful day at work!

hehehe...well, my "way with words" is cus my mind is so small I don't recognize "normal" words and have to find the ones I either know or I will choose to make up new ones. (Didn't make up "malfoogerty" though, it's from a very ancient language that goes back to the Malfoo Islands of Gerty. I think it means "sumpin' ain't right here".)

As an aside, or even back to the topic, a DG member recommended TinyURL to me. Won't say who it is (thanks, Magpye!) (whoops) but it will shrink extra-long URL's to make them workable on websites. It worked for me!

I always thought it was malflugerty - just my Southern upbrin' I guess! I just love learning new words and their origin.
