PlantScout Suggestion

It would be great if the PlantScout search results included the company's DG rating. I rely heavily on those ratings in making decisions and it can be a bit of a pain going through a long list to find the cream of the crop.

It be even greater if we could sort on the rating. ;)

If you change the way you're searching you can get what you want (the rating part at least, not the sorting). Instead of using the search feature in Plant Scout, if you go to Plant Files and search for the plant you want there, then click on the link that says xx number of vendors have this plant for sale, then it lists the ratings alongside the name. It would be nice to have that if you're searching through Plant Scout too, but in the meantime you could do it this way.

Thanks, ercane -- that's where I started... but I'm looking for a variety of Brugmansias and only a very few have listings in the PlantFiles -- so not all the vendors are listed.

I didn't think there could be any plants in Plant Scout that aren't in Plant Files? I think I don't understand exactly what you're trying to do--the part about vendors not being listed doesn't make sense to me, if they're not listed then how are they showing up in your results when you search in Plant Scout? If you're looking in general for Brug vendors in Watchdog then it should be showing their rating in the search results and there you can sort by rating.

For every individual PF brug listing, only a few of the VENDORS that carry brugs are listed -- those that have that specific cultivar.

I don't have a specific brug in mind, I just want to look at a variety -- so I'm more interested in seeing a complete list of the vendors that have a selection of brugs, not a vendor that carries a specific cultivar... and I don't want to have to go through each cultivar to find all the vendors.

The best way then is to go to Garden Watchdog, then search using the category "Plants: Brugmansias and Datura's", then there's a box that lets you pick whether to sort by company name, rating, or a couple other things--choose rating and it should pull up a list of all the companies in GW who sell brugs, sorted by highest to lowest rating. Here's what I get when I do that

Glad that helped. Is there anything that you were looking for that you didn't get in that search? There are other options when searching in Watchdog, I just picked that one approach as an example.

It wouldn't work so well if you're searching for a plant that is not one of the primary categories and I still think adding the company ratings to PlantScout would be a big plus -- but I'm good for now. ;)
