posting photos on Garden Watchdog?

Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hi

I was thinking it would be nice to be able to post photos of what we've recieved or how plants were packaged on Garden Watchdog. It's an objective way of showing what we've received in the mail. What looks bad to one person might be acceptable to another, and vice versa. It could also be proof that we're telling the truth in the event someone questions us. Plus, we can post photos in the other forums, so why not here? What do you think? Sorry if this has been discussed before!

If not, you could always post the photos in your DG Diary or Journal, then include a hyperlink to the photo in your Watchdog comment.

A few intrepid users have figured out how to insert photos (using html tags, I suspect) into their Watchdog comments.

I'm afraid I'm not keen on the idea of encouraging widespread insertion of images or implementing the standard DG photo-insertion function with comments.

Here's why:

1) In the event of a problem, our guidelines encourage the cusotmer to attempt to work it out directly and privately with the vendor; if that doesn't work, then they can use the Watchdog to let others know the experience was disappointing, and why. If they heed this advice, there's no reason for anyone to post a photo and ask others to decide for themselves if the plants were acceptable or not - a negative comment should be reserved for unacceptable quality of products and/or service.

2) When you submit a photo with a comment to our forums, the only way to remove the photo is to remove the entire post (it becomes imbedded within the post itself.)

3) Now consider the types of photos an angry customer might decide to post (in the heat of the moment) to illustrate their frustration. (Some of them already get pretty graphic with their language, which we *can* edit. ;o) But if they posted an inappropriate image, our only recourse would be to remove the entire comment.

Good points :)
