Darius - please do it. there are several of us willing to help a bit if necessary with $$. Anyone else interested, D-mail me. Your health is important.
Gas prices here are about $1.04 per litre which converts to $ .92 US. The litre is almost the same as the the US quart; so for a gallon, we are paying about $3.68 and that's cheap. I should go out and gas up. It's been up to $1.14 per litre. We will see it go up and down 12 cents per litre within a day. I suspect that you don't usually see such wide fluctuations in the US because you pay by the gallon.

Before you
Before you complain about how bad things are, take a few moments to make them better. Before you consider the day to be wasted, spend some time and effort to bring it real value.
Before you allow frustration to consume you, step back and put things in perspective. Then take a deep breath and choose to move forward with a peaceful, more effective approach.
Before you begin to fret about your own troubles, give your help to another. When you give of yourself, you'll discover resources and abilities you never before knew you had.
Before you give yourself over to anger, take time to listen and to understand. Before you lash out and tear down, look instead for ways to build bridges and create value.
Before you sink into the depths of self pity, see if you can find something to laugh about. When you avoid taking yourself too seriously, many more opportunities can open up to you.
Before you say or do something you know you'll regret, remind yourself of your highest purpose and vision. Before you take the next step, look where you're going, and choose the path that you know is best.
Have great week ahead now careful in heat.. Twyla
CECE----- I do not know your BIL. But I would be worried about advising you about something I had no experience at. I can tell you from experience that true limestone is soft and it will breakdown fairly fast unless it is like the stuff we have here that is not true limestone it is called dolmite. It is not as simple as just going out and finding some flat rocks and making a walk in most areas of the country. Tell the BIL that most of those fine looking walks he sees on HGTV are extremely expensive because the contractor has brought that stone from god knows where. My son is a pool contractor and builds many water features. He gets stone from all over the country, and let me tell you, it will cost you a arm and a leg in most cases.
Hi everyone ... just checking in for a quick ~~~ before I jump into bed with my book. I've been doing a lot more reading lately ... and it sure has been fun. Use to read a couple of books a week but that was before DG! LOL
Hi Maria ... thanks so much for calling and checking up on me today. I *did enjoy our talk so much. :-) You're such a sweetie to do that. Hugs to you and Samson!
Mary, my but that supper sure does sound good. I just wasn't hungry tonight, so let the DH have the left overs from the week-end and I had an Instant Breakfast. I think it was just toooo hot to eat tonight.
Defoe, hope your leg ... or guess I should say legs get better. So sorry you had an accident. Ouch ... know that hurt! You really need to take an afternoon and sit a spell. :-)
Cece good luck with your talk. ;)
Woodspirit was it you that hurt your foot? Sure hope it feels better. That's sure miserable when you have a throbbing foot and have to keep walking on it.
Speaking of throbbing ... Darius, I do hope you are able to get relief from that tooth ache.
Kelly, oh my ... I'm thinking about you too. I just hate that we have so many folks with aches and pains. :-(
McCool, I wanted to thank you for asking about my arm last night. I'm beginning to see an improvement ... I just have to be careful about staying on the computer too much. I am glad that your DH's feet are healing and hope things work out so he can get his job back. I know that's not helping your situation now, but I really am thinking about you.
Casy, you and your DH are also in my T&P's. I'm so glad I don't have to deal with the problems of dial up. We have DSL only because the DH has to have it due to his work ... and our computers are networked
Ann, I've meant to tell you how much I've enjoyed the interesting facts each morning. I didn't know today was a holiday for Canada.
Well, think I'll go grab that book and settle in for the night. It's a good cop and robber murder mystery with a female cop named Lacy. What does that remind you of? Anyway, better go see what she gets herself into next. LOL
nighty night.
~Elaine~
Good evening everyone,
Believe it or not, I've read everyone's posts --- Anyhow, hope everyone who was feeling crummy feels a lot better now. darius, as everyone else keeps saying --- this is not something to fool around with. (Yeah, I know, lousy grammar)
Had a rather interesting day today. It was hot and humid as the forecasters said it would be, but I still had things that really needed to be done. I emptied out the other barrel of the composter and got half of it spread around various veggie plants. Also pulled up another several pounds of grass and assorted weeds in the veggie garden. After that I decided that I really had to use the rest of the alfalfa tea (actually, by the time I'm able to get to it, it's more like alfalfa BEER as it's been fermenting for so long!) I used most of it to water various needy plants and then tried to pour the sludge into the composter that I had just re-filled with leaves, etc. from our massive pile. In the process, I ended up wearing more of it than I'd have liked. By the time I 'd finished what I could do for the day (the sun was going down), I went inside and my mother said "Go away" and DH asked if I could possibly cook supper from outside. I wasn't too keen on being so close to myself either, so I had to go take a shower before I could start cooking.
I really like the "Bother in Law" moniker, but have been lucky in that line. I only have one of them and he lives in England. So far, we've gotten along quite well. The British SIL is another story, but, as both of her brothers want nothing to do with her, she's really not my problem either. I have one brother who's more of a "bother", but I suspect that's pretty common in most families also.
It's late, it's hot and I'm getting tired, so I want to wish that all of you who are hurting find relief very soon and that those who are enjoying the Summer continue to do so! Good night, sleep tight, and don't even THINK about the &*%#@ bedbugs!
Just checking in before I hit the hay. Dsis wants me to rub her feet, so I need to do that since she healed my back pain! Man, does it feel good to 'feel good'!!! LOL
We went to take DIL/DGS out for ice cream - yummm twist cone for me!
cece- stand your ground....I have a BIL who thinks he knows everything too. DH used to always side with him, but in the past few years the tables have turned and he listens to me.. His mantra now is 'you were right' - which I promptly respond with 'I usually am'!!
Darius- oopsie on the food that took a dump - doesn't that just tick you off when that happens. I thought your helper was sick today. I won't say anything about the tooth, as I try put things like that off too...but remember, we want you around for many more years -nuff said.
defoe- it was hot here today too - truthfully, I'm sick of it!! But tonight it cooled off and is pleasant- good sleeping weather I think!! My sis and I are sleeping in DH big bed again. This will be the last night- she leaves tomorrow. We both wake up and talk half the night away. Last night we turned on the tv in the wee hours of the morning...
carat- my dial up has been giving me trouble too- says lines are busy- try again - this happens way too often for me - plus they just raised their rates again. I'd like to get a faster connection, but hate to spend the cash right now....plus that would mean changing my email addy and THAT is a pain in the patootie!
M5- how was the fair? Get any deep fried twinkies or elephant ears (my personal fav) I haven't gone to a fair in years - I get barfy sick on rides so I'm no fun to take! We have an outside waterpark/ride place here and I went there a couple of summers ago. That was kinda fun, but I still didn't ride on much. They had something called the lazy river where you ride a tube along and a wave pool that I really liked until I couldn't find DGS. It was all very clean and well run.
Well, a bear claw has been calling my name, so I think I will take a bite or two before bed. See ya in the morn!
Hi folks,
Have read all, but it's late enough that I won't take the time to back up and address everyone separately. Tomorrow morning will come quickly. My car will spend a few days at the body shop. There is a rust bubble next to my windshield. Maybe caused by something they did in replacing the windshield when the car was about a year old. Audi won't cover it - says it isn't perforation. Ha! But DH has a 1965 Porsche 356C Cabriolet which is all original. they are rebuilding one and wanted to see his to take measurements and specs. Since they had his car for 3 days to do that, they said they would fix the rust bubble on mine free. Sounded like a good deal to me. And Aquafit is at 8 am as well.
So, good night all. Hope you all sleep well. I'll be back in a minute with the new thread.
Ann
The new thread is up. Here is the link - http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/636690/
Well, it is not quite midnight here, so will post here rather than in "tomorrows" forum. After supper, waited until about 8:00 pm and went to DM's and weeded her flower beds. The porch was dry, so moved all the porch furniture back on it. The temps at that time were still in the high 80's. Sweated like a pig, and smelled like one to boot. Then home where I dug out the sod for the new iris bed. I watered it down, and hope that by morning, it will till nicely. Never did get to that pool maintenance. Maybe in the morning. I can't believe how "care free" this pool has been. Just vacuum, and shock and I am good to go. Okay, I know closing it is coming up, and I am going to attend the session on pool closure given by the dealer, as "pool school". Will need to do that again in the spring, for "opening the pool".
cece, let us know what DH says about pond. If he knows his DB is a know it all, maybe all his advice went in one ear and out the other. Good luck.
Sarv, you sound just like my DTS and me. Ain't it great that we can squeeze in a visit now and again, and just do the "girlie things"? I am going to Reno with my DTS, on the 26th, and plan to enjoy it thoroughly. My only problem, is staying in touch here. I will miss you all terribly.
I01, glad that the arm/shoulder are feeling better. The name "Lacy" rings a bell with me, what are you reading? I do murder mysteries, and just love the well written ones.
McCool, sorry for the alfalfa tea bath. I can just imagine how you smelled!! I too would have voted for a shower/bath, before you touched anything in my kitchen!!
Darius, as many times as you have given advice to those of us ailing with something, don't you think your advice should be self applied? Now get thee to a dentist. With pulmonary problems, it is important that you get an antibiotic before anything is done with the teeth. Goes for heart problems also.
Do you think that M5, was too tired to come tell us about her day at the fair?
Well, I guess that it is time that I start thinking about the bedroom. Hope that I can sleep uninterrupted, and for sure Rusty won't be a problem tomorrow moring, as he is safely ensconsed in the "presidential suite" at the barn. BTW, after cleaning up the supper mess, went out and sure enough he was out again. Again DH was not here, so I have herded him in 2 times today. If he doesn't start behaving, he will have a "for sale" sign around his neck. Any takers? He is a sweet but obstinate animal, just don't know why he wants to aggravate me.
Good Night all, hope you have a restful one.
