New feature suggestion: zone search

Bucyrus, OH(Zone 6a)

Perhaps in a future iteration of DG it might be possible to allow a search for plants based on zone, ie a search of 5b would return all plants in the PF database capable of growing in zone 5b, and refining the search would give me everything in my desired family/genus/species.

joegee, have you tried the advanced search? Here are some tips that might help - there's a section on using the advanced search feature included: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/608659/

Sounds like a good idea Joe!

And it already exists ;o)

Yes and no Terry. I would like to be able to browse all plants in my zone. The current feature returns max 100 results. I don't always know what kind of plant I am interested in, is it perennial, is it annual, does it bloom, is it a shrub, is it a tree, what is its growing habit?

As an example, even if I refine my search to blooming perennial plants 18" tall or under that a fragrant and suitable to zone 5b I still end up with far more than 100 search results, and my search is limited to the first 100 pulled from the archive.

I would like something more comprehensive: a browseable catalog of choices available to me, or a higher search limit. :)
