Morning Glories 2006 #3

Leander, TX(Zone 8b)

YEAH I finally have a bloom to share with y'all. I have been so bummed because I have several MGs going but hardly any blooms :( . Very dissappointing since I had so many last year. It has been awfully hot though!! I have been keeping a photo journal of them on here..been kinda fun, but it sure would be a lot more colorful if they all started to bloom!!

This is Grandpa Ott's.

Robbie,
that is an absolutely gorgeous color! Do they really look metallic? If ever you want to trade seeds, let me know. That color is just to die for!

Westmoreland, TN(Zone 7a)

Thank You indiana_lily

Robbie,
Awesome! I will have some Grandpa Ott seeds later on. Like a ton, if you're interested. I also have a bunch of other stuff (foxglove, purple coneflower, yellow and pink snapdragon, just to name a few).

Westmoreland, TN(Zone 7a)

Thank You indiana_lily ,
I have so much now it will take years to grow it all.
when i get seeds i will let you know and you can just send a sasbe.

Ron,

Thanks for the great verbs on the Convolvulaceae, most interesting!

Furisode was taken in low light conditions...it presents as light pink to more pigmented pink with more light. You're right, it does have similar floral aspects to Lavender Silk.

I am hoping for the fantastic picotee pattern in Berry Ice that Laurrie shows in her ebay picture. I think maybe later in the year the flowers may show more variability. One can always hope, yes?

I found a wierd flower this morning. It will not make seeds because all it has is a center of curled leaves and only two anthers with pollen. It is mucky from the rain but it sure got my attention.

About the Berry Ice: I noticed some have a prettier, thicker margin of white with a more pronounced picoted shape. I put little tags on the flowers that had the wide margins so I can grow more next year and hopefully this will help.

purple - this is the 4th year I've had these purple ones. They started as burpee's star of yelta. I only planted them one year and they've reseeded like crazy for three years.

Everyones photos are breathtaking again this year ! I'm having the same problem that many of you seem to be. Lots of foliage and not many blooms yet. These are growing in my front garden. Just a few blooms.

Nice to see more pics being shared. Robbie, love the unusual
color of your morning glory.

One that has done fairly well is Yuki. Very pure white, large 6" blooms.

This one I think is Mikono Mai. I had a little problem with my labels this year. LOL! My 20 pound cat decided that my flat with all my labeled peat pots would be a good napping place. Can't really blame her since it was on a heating mat, but she did manage to mess up all the labels.

And I think this is Sazanmi.

This is the unknown that I was calling Asuka NOT last year since it came in a pkg. of Asuka seeds. It did come true from saved seeds this year. It varies a lot from bloom to bloom. Some with the star in the center and some without.

This one is growing next door to me. It has a creped texture to it. The older woman who used to live there said it has been there at least 50 years.

Another really pretty one that lost it's label. I think it came form a DG member last fall.

A Suzanami from this AM with almost no white on it and behind it is a Yuki.

I wondered when I saw Emma's photos of Ipomoea pandurata if it might me the same as the white one next to me. I will have to check tomorrow AM and see if they have the vertical ridges Ron mentioned.

Here is another Asuka NOT from this AM. They are rather fragile, so sometime tear like this.

Just breath-taking! Robbie, that salmon colored one looks like satin! To die for!
