Well I untangled another one a few weeks ago and put it up on my porch. I wasent able to untangle the whole MG but it has grown a lot and put out new buds. The flowers has gotten darker and I have started to fertilize it since the new growth steals from the old leaves.

This one is driving me nuts...........I havent got the foggiest what I planted. (forgot to tag it) I just remember that I said to my self when I planted it. OH I must plant one of these big seeds too.
It is fuzzy all over even on the leaves.

Gerris, I have always been fascinated by shapes and forms that show up again and again among different plant families and genera (there's even an African insect that clusters in a formation that looks like a flower!).

People ask me how I remember the names of plants - well the pony tail plant was what my office gave me while I recuperated from breaking my leg while running to pounce on a phone. Who could forget the word "caudiciform" after that? See http://davesgarden.com/terms/go/2912.html

Welp, your Ipomoea albivenia's swollen stem inspired me to google:
caudiciform + pelargonium
and I got: http://www.bihrmann.com/caudiciforms/subs/pel-tri-sub.asp

That page has a gorgeous photo of the South African habitat where a caudiciform pelargonium came from. I thought that would be fun, before you click on the tab at the top of that webpage for the genus ipomoea - yup - lots of other caudiciform ipomoea in there that are also from South Africa, as is I. albivenia.

Fascinating web site, bluespiral, thanks for the link!

Janett,I think that is why I love the JMGs. They don`t look real!

I like seeing the pictures of all varieties. The Hewittia is very neat!

Really enjoying everyone's pics. I don't fertilize mine, and was late direct sowing this year. Even in the heat, I'm still getting some blooms. This little pretty is from seed I acquired in a swap. They had it labeled Emma's Gift.

Here is another one. I wonder what this is. It is a large picot edge and nice eye catching purple. The first picture is washed out by sun and the second one I used my hand to block out some of the sun. The leaves are dragonfly shape and variegated.

Another to show how rich the purple realy is. I like the white edges too.

Thanks! I have really enjoyed all the pictures and wish there were more!!!

All my vines are flowering up for the most part, but haven't had a good flower on each one to take a picture. There is lots of time to get just the right one...it's so awesome to see them in real life.

Joseph
