The Famous Studio

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Many years back, owning a camera was a luxury. So, Picture Studios were in vogue. People who wanted pictures for memories used to go there to be 'shot'. So, our family used to go to this studio that has been in existence for more than 50 years. I took this picture Saturday. This is still functioning. The same owner - now his son. They patronized the Mysore Kings. You can see a big picture in the Showcase on the right. All furniture inside was old, but they had now a computer! The studio goes by the name "Raj and Brothers". Raj is the name of the person. I presume that since Raj means King, it is that.

So when I was a boy, I used to be taken there. My mother was for many years fascinated because one of my pictures was on display in this studio! I'm posting a few of them from my album. Please forgive me if the focus is not proper as I have taken them using my digital camera. This was before my FIRST haircut.

Wooden toys were kept there in the studio to prevent kids from crying as they sat to pose for shots. A toy train and an elephant can be seen. Even now, this posture is my favourite!

It's a cotton suit. This was a fashion - to make little kids to wear one.

On my left is my 'first friend' (a thread I had started sometime ago). And the other one is not a girl. He is my brother! It was before his first haircut. It was a fancy to make little boys like that wear a frock and decorate the hair like a girl -- this happens in families where girls are not born. I was also made to wear a frock like that!

Dinu, you are adorable with and without hair! They are all very good!

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

They are all of the early to mid 1960s. Most of the hair are still on top.

lol You are too funny. It's great that you have these pictures. :)

I've enjoyed these a lot! You look like a little businessman in that second picture. You were an adorable little boy. The Indian people have such big, beautiful eyes, so soulful.

Ha ha ha.

Businessman! I can never imagine that! See what a fresh haircut (it was my first in life - in the traditional way) can make.

My mother tells me that whenever she was taking me to her mother's place, college girls used to pet me so much! She had to pass through the road where the college was and the girls were so fascinated by this little boy's looks! LOL, how I wish I remembered now!

Dinu....they make me just want to squeeze you! I think I will....((((((Dinu))))))

Actually....the first picture looks so much like my Great Granddaughter....who is a beautiful little girl...

You still look great...even with out the long hair!! Jo

Hey, (((((Jo))))). :)

These mothers that don't have daughters have that fancy to put a borrowed frock to her son and take pictures!!! Wait till I post one in that costume, taken before I began to walk.

There was another, and still is, fancy among mothers of daughters. It is to decorate the long plait of hair with flowers, take her to studio and then take a shot with a mirror behind showing the decorated plait. My Ds did not have long hair as they were cut short because we did not have time in the morning to straighten the hair before leaving for school/office.

Dinu, you're probably sleeping right now, or at least relaxing at about 10:30pm your time.

You know the adage, "when the cat's away, the mice will play?". Well...I couldn't resist.

EEeek! lol

I know...Makes him look too much like the character in that new movie "Little Man". Better I should put his infant curls on his adult head, maybe?

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

Oh yes, let's make it creepier! lol

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Well, I futzed around with those black curls as much as I could, but they don't do him any justice here. LOL

Dinu, are you sleeeeeping?

Ha ha ha ha......
Could not come to DG last afternoon. Anyway here I'm for the morning session. The cat is really enjoying the "mice-mischief". I will show my DW next week all these funny pictures. Let's see if that brings on at least a grin on her face.LOL! Try making the head a little more smaller. I can never imagine the length of hair in the last picture! The very thought of it made me uncomfortable.

Dinu, you are probably the most interesting person around. Always posting something new and different. Just wonderful.
All the pictures are wonderful.
Thanks Kim for the laughs this morning.

Yes, your head needs to be smaller in that shot. I matched up the eyes in size and went from there. LOL
