A little surprise
In my garden
H Donna. What a glorious day eh? I'm just in for a drink and a phone call. Guess we're both missing the sale at the conservatory today. Yes the little surprise is Whiskey Sour. Its so tiny to be blooming. The flowers are quite dainty.
I think the corkscrew vine I brought in will bloom in a while but the one at the back door is toast now. I pullled the flower apart to study its structure. Of course not till after it froze the other night.
Ü congratulations Ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ü What a thrill it must be to see (and smell) those beauties blooming!!!
Well it would have been, if they had opened. I don't think Donna has had one open yet either. I have one big pot inside and a couple of smaller vines still out in the greenhouse to come in. I am determined to see Corkscrew vine blossoms this year. BTW, if anybody is interested, I got the seed from Onalee's store.
Thanks, Pam. I definitely won't get to smell it before I have to cut it back....sniff, sniff. Sale?? Oh well.
:) Donna
Seriously Donna???!!!???? :( Can't it go into your greenhouse?
(can tell Grey's Anatomy is back on again ;)
What's Grey's Anatomy?
Oh echoes!!!!!!! :0 You haven't heard of McDreamy, McVet or McSteamy???????????????????????
http://abc.go.com/primetime/greysanatomy/index Time to put your drool bib on. ;)
Nah, no drooling here. I guess I have seen that show before. But what's it got to do with ........?............ne'mind.
Sincerely? ;)
No way, Brenda!!!! I'm jealous....lol!!! You lucky girl!!! Mine bit the dust to frost. Didn't have room to bring it in. Does it have a smell...huh, huh?????
;) Donna
It sure does smell nice. Keep your fingers crossed maybe I can do cuttings next spring. To bad you weren't closer, you could come and take a whiff..
Ü CONGRATULATIONS ECHOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ü
Lovely solid orange lilium ah_hoya! :)
Very pretty flowers everyone! Echoes where did you find that corkscrew in Canada? I have been looking for one. Did you start it from seed? It is hard to find some of these lovely flowers I guess it takes a few years to get such a lovely collection together. Thanks all for sharing the pictures!
Bea
Brenda can you send the smell in an email, please? I've brought the pot in after it getting hit, but I'm hoping that it is still okay.
;) Donna
Hi ahhoya, welcome to DG.
Bea, I started a few plants fom seed last spring. I don't think I've seen them offered as plants.
Not sure how much cold they can take Donna, but it's worth a try.
One that I had planted in the ground almost opened blossoms outside, but didn't make it before frost. This one was in a large pot and I pulled it down and brought it in a few weeks ago. One bud finally opened. I found these funny little things in several places. Not sure what they are, surely not seed pods.
Brenda do you mean those little brown bumps? That's like a scale or bug of some kind. I had to cut back the rest of the vine I left on the plant when I brought it into the house. It seems to be kind of mushy. I'm hoping it will grow new shoots from the roots. If not, I hope you're starting cutings for me, please.
:) Donna
No, I meant the little knobby things, but now I think that is what it looks llike where the flowers and buds drop off. I cut mine back too Donna, and I'm going to give it a good spray to make sure there are no mites on it. By late winter it should be good for trying cuttings.
