Have you bought your crocs yet

Central FL, FL(Zone 9b)

Believe me, if we could leave here, we would! I'd love to be able to walk in my garden wearing Crocs. Instead, I wear socks and sneakers. We get rid of fireants only temporarily; they're back in no time.

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

I had my first encounter with those fireants the first of the month when I was visiting my son and GD in Sugar Land Tx. and yes I was wearing my crocs. I did have on socks which helped. I got 7 bites on my right foot and one on my left. It really wasn't bad and they didn't bother me any like they do my son. But it didn't take me long to get my crocs and socks off so he could hose me down. We were planting some flowers and I think he mush have knelt down in a hill because he had numerous bites on his knee caps and they really swelled up and hurt him the next day.

Now we have chiggers really bad here and I have some bites around my ankles now. TG the mosquitoes aren't as bad this year, due to the drought. Yesterday we were 107* not sure what it is going to be here today. Cities around us have been getting some rain but here in my little neck of the woods we haven't gotten any that amounts to a lot. It did rain here Sat. afternoon I think we must have received about 30 drops. Yes our rain is measured in drops not in inches. That is how bad it has been.

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Sadly, I won't be buying any crocs. :-(

When they first came out, I was under the impression they were
for gardeners, for us. But then I realized that I could not wear them
in the garden. They have holes in them! LOL. I'm a busy gardener,
I don't want crud in my shoes, and the holes are invitations
for plenty of dirt.

At first I thought I just HAD to have a pair. Then before I knew it,
everyone was wearing them, everywhere. Even in nice restaurants
you see people wearing them. Understandably, they are comfortable,
but in this area, they have developed a reputation as the all-purpose
lazy shoe.

Don't get me wrong, I love comfy shoes and have a pair of flip-flops, but
I don't have them on at all times. Maybe I'll get a pair and hide them, LOL.
Are those your crocks? Uh, no, no, those are the neighbors!

I hate to be the stick in the mud, but a good thing has gone bad, at least
where I live.

:-)

Fortuna, CA

It says they should not touch your feet except the sole but if that is true how do they stay on? Do they slip around and off a lot? I don't care what they look like. If they don't make my feet hurt they sound wonderful!

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

They have a strap that goes over the top or around your heel. They have a tread on the bottom and are smooth surface non-slippery. They also have some without holes, but with the holes the water just keeps on going. I have feet that hurt to stand on in the morning, so I'm getting some Crocks clouds.
;)

Midway, TX(Zone 8b)

I've been lurking for a while now to see if there was anyone that was not 'crazy' about crocs. Wuvie I think you're the only one I've seen. lol
To tell the truth I really don't think I would like them either. :( I am another person that does not like dirt and mud getting on my feet when I'm in the garden. I go outside very early when the dew is still on the ground to do all my watering and I don't think I would like a 'squishy' feeling goin' on with my feet. I have problems with my feet so I try and wear shoes with support. I have a pair of regular rubber garden clogs that I usually wear with socks. These clogs don't have holes in them. Sometimes I wear my very comfy tennis shoes (black) with socks and my feet stay clean and dry. My shoes and socks don't but my feet do. ;)
Wuvie I guess we are the only two 'stick in the muds'. lol
Lin

Pine City, MN(Zone 4a)

I have a lot of hip pain, and wide feet. The Crocs are so comfortable. The only other shoes I wear are New Balance tennis shoes. The black crocs look much better than tennis shoes! I don't know why anyone would call them lazy, some of us care more about comfort than style! :>)

Midway, TX(Zone 8b)

I also have a pair of New Balance tennis shoes and they are very comfortable.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Ditto on the New Balance tennis shoes. I have two pair.

Crossville, TN

Dirt in your toes? I must get a pair...my happiest memories of childhood is mud squishing between my toes!!

Biv...you forgot to mention LOVE-BUGS in your list of Fl pests! LOL Jo

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Lin, LOL. I think we must feel the same. Socks for sure, even if they get
dirty. The thought of sticking my bare feet into dirty shoes while working. Ugh!

Jo, I love love love to run my bare feet through freshly tilled soil. It feels
so good! But for gardening and such which will be several hours sometimes,
no dirt. It's hard enough to keep my feet clean as it is, LOL. I also wear a lot
of sandals once I'm cleaned up, so I have to make certain I don't have nasty
heels. What other folks think of me is not high on the list, but I try to maintain
some sort of cleanliness. Ha ha ha!

Central FL, FL(Zone 9b)

Right, Jo...lovebugs! And we have more than our share of mosquitoes, even in the winter months.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Any 'flat-footed' people wear these?

My mom's been looking for a comfortable casual shoe...but she's quite flat-footed and needs support.....are these good for that situation?

TIA!

Central FL, FL(Zone 9b)

I think they also have some kind of orthopedic version. You can Google and find their website.

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Crocs have an interesting history about them:

Read up on Crocs and your feet:

And then the Crocs site:

Even bash the Crocs:

Pine City, MN(Zone 4a)

Nan, my feet are flat. They work for me. Some shoe stores have them, if you can find one, she could test them out.

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Well, I couldn't find any Crock info in the second site.
I tried on WM's knock-offs at $9. They were very light and hard and not so flexable. Dillards has 3 or 4 styles real Crocks and they are ever so soft and light.
My feet hurt sooooooooooo bad that I want the Crock Clouds, $39.95, S & H is $9.95!!! That really POs me as they are getting full retail. They want me to spend $100 before they ship free. No one stocks Clouds, especially for diabetics. Amazon offers free shipping if you order the styles they stock.
Phooey!!!!!
Sidney

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Sugarweed if your feet hurt as bad as you say, forget about the
S & H of $9.95 and go for it. You only pay for it once. And your feet will hurt you 7 days a week 365 days a year. I know they aren't the prettiest shoe to wear, but I don't care, cause my feet don't hurt anymore, my lower back doesn't bother me. They are worth every penny I paid for mine. Even the S & H. I would do it again. Will come to think of it, I did order another pair from Dillard's last week-end and received them today. I got the red sandal with the open toe going to give them a try.

The knock off types are not the same. I got a pair from Payless and I am still wearing them, but my feet seem to scoot around in them where they don't in the crocs. I have been told the WM ones aren't near as comfortable. Keep us informed on what you decide.

Linda

No I don't have any stock in Crocs either, wish I did.

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

LOL, I too love what I love and should have stock in about four companies I boost here.
;)

This has been very interesting reading all the pros and cons.....I think I will take the plunge and spend the 50 bucks on my mom....she's not diabetic but has had knee surgery and foot surgery, so I think I'll go for the 'clouds' type.

Thanks all for your input, and thanks for posting the topic, Kathy....I knew a couple of people who own them and they reall like them, but I didn't even think about buying a pair for my mom until I read the viewpoints in this thread!

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

What a good kid you are! Mom is sure to love them!

:-)

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Thanks, wuvie....I owe that woman, dontcha know?! Ü

I'm excited about getting them for her....I'd really like it to be a surprise, though...so I'm kind of worried about getting the wrong size.

I guess that's another question....do you folks who have the 'originals' find that they run fairly true to size?

(TIA ..... again!)

super-soft foot bed provides a gentle environment for sensitive feet, while the roomy toe box allows for use of a heavy sock without creating any tightness or pressure points on the foot.

Pine City, MN(Zone 4a)

After you decide on a style, you can email the company and ask them about the sizing. They are great at answering questions.

Horsens, Denmark

Nope will never consider having one, I am a very anticrocs fan :o)

Central FL, FL(Zone 9b)

I understand some women are more comfortable wearing children's sizes. I still don't own any but will try the kids' size if I ever decide to shop for them again. If I do get some, they'd be for wearing at home...not for wearing in public. I just think they look funny on my skinny feet.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

i don't think crocs are made out of leather. i think it's some sort of neoprene-like material like for wet suits. they don't cause foot sweat or odor. you can squirt the water hose right down thru them, step into a bucket of water or whatever. but.......................ONE VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH CROCS............if you wear them day in and day out as i have done the soles with get smooth. and if you walk on slick pavement THAT IS WET there is a very real danger of falling. another minor problem is thorns or any sharp item........if you step on them and they are pointy enough these materials will go right thru the crocs. i have had cuts thru them after stepping on glass. but i love these crocs. they are more comfortable than tennis shoes by far. the pay less shoes look and feel just like crocs. i have both kinds.

Ijamsville, MD(Zone 6b)

No they are not leather. Here are a pair of mine. I also have a navy pair I wear in the garden. Love Them! I got the Jibbitz in Canada but you can get them online here http://www.nofeargear.com

I wear a 6.5 size shoe, and I got 6-7 size "crocs." They fit great.

I've walked a lot in these, and they're more comfortable even than my Nikes or Sauconies. I think I'm going to get another pair or two. Too bad they don't have winter crocs.

But hopefully I'll find and unpack the box my shoes are in by the time it gets cold.

Central FL, FL(Zone 9b)

What about Crocs and heavy socks for winter?

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

They do have winter crocks, just go check out their website,

This thread is great. Yes, I just bought my first two pair of crocs. Got them from outland usa. The ones I got had free shipping. Since I haven't been able to find them around here I thought that was the way to go. I really like how light they are. I think I want to get a pair of the RX ones for work.

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

hey since I started this thread, I have since worn the soles down onmy crocks LOL, they are fantastic, Hope I don't slip, I wear them everywhere around the house, and they are litterally wearing down on the bottom sides LOL

gonna have to get a solid pair with no holes for winter use

Aurora, CO(Zone 5a)

I went down to that Wild Oats near me. Unfortunately I got there half an hour before they closed--forever!

That sucks. That means there are no natural food stores near me at all.

I've worn mine so much that the tread has worn out on the sole. I probably won't be wearing them much lnoger, though. It's turned cold. The temperature is now 48 degrees, colder than it's been in at least four months.

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

I have a pair of Aspen's they are the ones without holes, and I wore mine all last winter with socks. They worked great for me.

Also for us gardeners maybe we should check into the Off Road style.

The Off Road by Crocs is a new rugged style perfect for those outdoor enthusiasts. With a contoured sole for added traction whether you are climbing your favorite hiking trail or just climbing the stairs in your office building, the Off Road is the shoe for you. Additional features include a protective toecap to minimize dirt and debris from entering the shoe and the adjustable Turbo Strap will provide you maximum comfort and flexibility. As with all Crocs shoes the Off Road is made from Crocs unique, super comfortable "Croslite PCCR" material that is anti-microbial, slip resistant, non-marking and odor resistant. The Crocs Off Road is sold in whole sizes only and fit fairly true to size.

I just recently got a pair of the Nile style. Can't say I like them as well. The opening at the toe is to big or something, cause my feet hang out over the tip of them when I am walking. No they aren't to small, maybe they wouldn't do that if I wore socks with them, but they are suppose to be the sandal type.

I notice the PROFESSIONAL style is coming in more colors. I may have to get a pair of them.

Go to there web site they are added new things.

Help!
I ordered the Crocs for my mom, and she *swears* that they're too big.
I've read on the website that they should fit *loosely* and that it "goes against everything that you have ever been used to in a shoe, but these are the parameter that the shoe was designed to be worn under....No pressure points, ever!"

I guess it does go against everything Mom's ever been used to in shoes....she's 79 and had a foot surgery this past spring, so I really want her to give these a chance.....anyone else under those circumstances have any advice on my convincing Mom that they're not 'too big'?

She wears 9.5 and therefore I ordered 10-11.....Do you suppose I should have ordered 8-9?
I don't see any info on recommendations for persons who wear 1/2 sizes, but I knew that other mail-order companies say to order the next largest size.

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Yes, you got her some much too large. Send them back and get the 8-9s in 'Clouds' if you want them super soft. They are roomy as it is and so if she wears a 9.5 get her Womens M(8-9) http://shop.crocs.com/pc-47-4-rx-cloud.aspx?reqid=47&reqProdTypeId=411p&subsectionname=footwear§ion=products

One word of caution. NEVER leave them in the sun. They SHRINK! My doggie took one outside and when I went to retrieve it, I was too late. I had one smaller than the other. I contacted the company and they confirmed that they do shrink in the sun. I was able to take them back to the store I bought them at and exchanged them.

I love it that you can just rinse them off if you step in doggie doo!

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Or any kind of doo. I stepped in cat doo the other day and smell, it was terrible.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Thanks so much for that info, sugarweed.....I just received an email from Crocs that they do, indeed, run big and wide....I just wish I'd have known that when I ordered, as now I not only have to pay to ship them back, but have to pay to have the new pair shipped, as well.....aargggh.....I told them that it would be nice if they would list that somewhere on their website, as I had searched for exactly that information before I ordered.

I ordered her the RX, since she'd had a foot surgery a few months back...but you think, sugarweed, that I should order the 'Clouds', instead?

She liked the idea that the RX had a 'higher' back than the standard....I'll have to check whether the 'Clouds' have that higher back.

Thanks for the 'shrinkage' warning, too, Mobi! All good to know!
