My toads can have many different shades of light and dark grey, brownish gray, pale beige, some with patterns of different shades and others just plain coloured.
Some have hardly any lumps at all, others have very pronounced ones.
Another one on another day on the same toadstool.
Anyone got pics of frogs and toads?
I like the greenish toad, the other one looks as though it is made out of concrete - apart from the eyes. I can't find my frog it has found another hiding place.
large yellow and black frog
Was it anything like this?

But at least it fits the description, which no UK native frog does!

I thought it might be interesting to compare tadpoles of frogs and toads.
Last year, the tadpoles of my green frogs didn't make it to the stage of frog. This might be caused because they started mating very late in the season, it was a very chilly spring then. Another reason or part of it could be that my pond only gets half-shadow in spring-summer and tadpoles need a lot of warmth and sun to mature.
(I learned this because, once I gave about a hundred of the toad tadpoles away to a person who has a pond which is situated in full sun. The tadpoles in that pond developed at least twice as fast as the ones remaining in mine.).
I didn't know either that tadpoles can survive the winter and continue with their development the next spring.
This is a picture of one of the survivor green frog tadpole with the newly born ones of toads.
Isn't it great how some simple frogs can make us smile!
Looks like the brother of my smallest frog, mgh!
Oh, that must be him!! ;o)
