Coffee...and for July 18, 2006
Hi everyone,
This is gonna have to be short, if not sweet, as there is thunder rumbling in the distance. I'm terribly paranoid about lightning; however, if this is the front that is supposed to free us from the awful heat and humidity --- Bring It On!
In case I have to get off here rather quickly --- darius, as others have said, there's really no need at all to apologize! If we couldn't vent a bit, most of us probably wouldn't "visit" here so frequently. Also want to say that I'm so sorry for what happened to your prints. Damage to property is bad enough, but when it's irreplaceable property, the hurt is magnified many times over. Mary, very glad to hear that Breezy is responding well to the new medication. 9kitty --- oh boy, too bad that wasn't a plastic sack! Glad that Snowcone's feeling a lot better AND that you found the copperhead before he did! I hate killing anything too, but if it's a choice between a snake and one or more of my cats, I'm afraid that the snake is going to lose. Vicki, kudos to you for watering your neighbor's gardens. I probably wouldn't have tried to do it with the hornets and bees in such close attendance (and Definitely Not after having been stung!) I01, hope that the new splint fits better and doesn't get in the way of your typing too much! Welcome to any of the newbies that I somehow didn't get to welcoming before. I think this heat has gone straight to my brain and it certainly hasn't done it any good! Bonnie, so sorry for the accident, but at least nobody was hurt. Sheila, enjoy your cool weather to the fullest! You can imagine what most of us would be willing to pay for that kind of weather at the moment! Twyla, so glad to hear that your mouth is feeling a lot better, just wish that your knee didn't have to start up instead! V-Ann, glad that you seem to be getting rid of the virus and that the medication isn't bothering you as much any more. You and I have been working on much the same thing lately, as I've been tweaking one of my websites too. As usual, I'm the odd one out, as most everyone else seems to prefer the blue or cream background, I really liked the aqua! ~~~~to cece, lauri, critter, dmcd, katy, anyone I might have missed, and all our absent friends. Have a lovely, restful night!
Hi folks,
Just checking in before bed. Got out into the garden tonight and did a lot of pruning. Also planted some coleus cuttings I had inside. Cut down some more Iris foliage and found a bit more Iris borer. It was a lot coller than yesterday but still warm enough to work up a sweat.
If I can find someone to bum a ride with, I'll got to Aquafit tomorrow. My car is still in the shop. the new part turned out to have a crack in it. They have two more coming in tomorrow from Toronto. Since they already had the car apart, it didn't make sense to put it together and then take it apart again. DH is heading out to Calgary tomorrow morning and will park his car in the "cheap" parking at the airport. It IS cheaper than taking a taxi. But it leaves me carless until mine is ready since there is a problem.with one of his "toys" having the clutch dragging. (He has two cars that are heritage vehicles. One I drive occasionally. the other I don't - a 1955 Cadillac. It's a real boat and I have no desire to every drive it.)
I have Hostas. He has cars. (I think Hostas are lower maintenance. LOL)
Bonnie - once the design of a web site is decided upon, the rest is grunt work. In this case, looking up the info for each hosta. Most of it I had handy, but not all. I've already seen a few errors I need to go back and fix. but I'm also anzious to get going on the second page. And if I can figure out how, I may revamp the initial pages into thumbnails to download faster. But I don't know how. Will have to get the books out.
Well off for a bath to get the insect repellent off and then to bed.
Have a good night everyone.
Ann
de-cat as soon as I learn how I'll post a pic of the frogs I will they really are so cute.......Actually Katym I told DH I was gonna borrow the cyber 2 x 4 if he didn't agree to the pond real soon. I even gave up martagon lilies for this year. Didn't work.
Hate to admit this but I was so desparate to see the thing in action, I filled the bath tub and plugged her in. It's so cute there's two frogs where water comes out of their mouths and it floats around. The pump is attached right to the frogs. I WANT a pond! even if its just a little one. My frogs need a home now/ If he wants to give up the bathtub............
I have to add to be fair, I'm obsessed with gardens. flowers, and a pond. I truly don't believe I'd rest easy until I have these things. Maybe to some of you I sound trivial or possessed but I can't help my nature. I want these stupid frogs to have a happy home where thery spurt water for my enjoyment. Selfish???? maybe but gosh darn its been about 30 years since I've really worried about what makes me happy and I think nows the time.
Cece- I saw some small inexpensive plastic type ponds at Wal Mart the other day in the garden section. You might check that out. I noticed they are already marking gardening stuff down to get Halloween stuff out (already had some Halloween out) and maybe the ponds will be marked down. Just a thought. LOL about the 2x4!
Just finished cleaning out the refridgerator and washing all of the tupperware type bowls that leftovers were in. It was my weekly challenge over on the "Tag Cleaning Club" thread. Something that I hate to do but it was needed. ;)
Okay off to bed with me. Hope everyone sleeps well.
Wanted to say goodnight for now;. I'm to be up at 4 am to take hubby to work and I'm tired.
Froggies have been put back to bed in the box and prolly tomorrow they will be named.. I think I will still need cyber 2x4's and lots of them. for DH in the am. wILL LOOK M5 for the nursery you told me about if I can find directrions again. Sleepy time now Night all.
CheriPS If you come back on M5 give directions again???? Please???????????????????

Froggies names are Hermie and Cornelius The names I wanted for the two koi I would hopefully one day have. Won't get loi but the frogs can go in the bathtub when I want to pay. (funny i didn't name one kermit, hey?)
cc don't know how old you are, but if you have waited 30 years since you worried about what made you happy, I think you are due. I understand in the earlier years, it was all children, jobs and home. Now that children and jobs are history, and home is something I can do easier now, I am taking every opportunity to have things I have wanted for years. One trick I have learned, over the years, is to plant the idea, talk about it once in awhile, and let him come up with the plan for the pond. Then it is his idea, and it will get done. I have wanted a swimming pool for years, and actively started talking about it 2 years ago. Finally got it installed about a month ago. So if you practice patience, it does pay off!! I like the names Cornelius and Hermie, Kermit didn't even come to my mind!!
Hope, I think we all have issues with sisters. May be age difference, or different interests, but the rivalry is usually there. My older sister actually called me tonight, something that happens about 2 x's a year. If I talk to her, I usually call her.
Viann, I didn't see any mistakes in the site. Maybe I need to go back and look again. My first job was as a proofreader for a newspaper. Things like typos usually just jump out at me. Now you have given me a challenge. Now if it is technical things about hostas I would never catch that.
McCool, if there is a front coming your way to cool things down, see if you can get it to do a turn and head south. How is DH? Mine asked tonight about "you all".
After supper tonight, DGD wanted someone to go in the pool with her. So I "volunteered". The water is so warm. I stayed out with her about and hour and a half, and then she cornered DH and he was out with her about 45 minutes, and then her dad came and put in about 30 minutes in the pool with her. Don't know why she thinks she has to have someone out there with her. I introduced her to acqua aerobics tonight. My aching muscles and bones need it, and she is sort of "chubby" so we have agreed that we will do this every day.
Well, I am going to get the daily up shortly.
To everyone, have a good peaceful night.
Okay everybody, the daily is up, we are waiting for someone to put some cyber treats on the counter, this crowd may get unruly if nothing is forthcoming. Follow me over here: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/628152/
