Yankee, I think we have similar 'gardens', LOL. Some odd ones, volunteers, Flowers and veggies mixed together. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and yank some lovely Cleomes that are in the new Strawberry patch, soon.
Gram, I'm sure Sarah would like you, too. She loves women right away, men take a few minutes. I've had a few dogs but this one is the best.

Daily Musings
We had some nasty thunder storms come through yesterday evening. Thunder and lightning for hours made Sarah very nervous.
I woke up this morning to find that she got sick over night. Thank heavens for the 'wet/dry' vac.
When I expect bad storms I give her a tranquilizer but it takes 90 minutes to take effect. I watch the radar and try to judge if it's needed. I misjudged yesterday.

Andy, Someone's been asking for you. See the "thread to yell at me"
Sarah needs a better meteorologist?
Yankeecat, I wondered if I would be crazy without my garden, but I am told I am crazy with it, so why should that change?
A rainy day project. PhotoShow #10, "Early Summer 2006".

41 pics of my garden set to music and motion, runs for 5 minutes.
Hope you like it.

Beautiful, Andy. I couldn't finish. It told me there was a problem loading. But I loved what I saw. The glad was so perfect. It was a pleasure!
Andy, Nice job. It downloaded for me.
Thanks guys.
I had a great day with the camera today.
I may overload my little laptop with pics soon, lol.
I keep seeing different flying insects on my Agastash. What a bug magnet that plant is. I missed my first Hummingbird Moth, a wasp chased it off. I had a nice series of pics in mind but got sidetracked at the Day Lilies.
I started a thread in Photos for a series of pics I snapped of a tiny bee inside a Day Lily.
Here is one of the 4 shots.
PS, there is another baby Catbird in that tree. I still can't find a nest.

Edited to say that another reason it was such a good day was I listened to the live broadcast from Tanglewood. I don't usually do that.
Today it was absolutely wonderful, the Boston Symphonic Orchestra with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus performed Mozart's Unfinished Requiem. I cranked it up, made the sub woofer bounce. It's still playing in my head.

sounds like a great way to spend a Sunday, Andy.
Hey Andy - do you have CD burner? If you do, burn your pictures to a cd. Then you will always have them.
Anita, I wish I did have a CD burner. All I have is this old used laptop with NO frills.
It did come with good software, though.
When business picks up I may upgrade to a new Laptop with a few extras.

Andy, I enjoyed the show thoroughly. the music fit perfectly. a very relaxing interlude. thanks much. it was just what I needed (back to work today after 2 weeks vacation)

Horrible, yucky day at work. Got really mad at someone who wanted a special report run at 4:47. Actually I was mad at myself for not running it when I ran the rest - but special takes extra time and I was swamped and I wanted to go home at 5. Stopped and did the report and emailed it off - but I wasn't nice to the person. I hate that I get angry like that. Had to salvage the day somehow - so I stopped at my favorite construction site and picked up money plant seed pods. I have some money plant seed for anyone who would like to have some. Help me make something positive out of a negative day.
We all get frustrated. Hope tomorrow's better for you.
Thanks Dave.
Tomorrow is going to be a better day.
Today I moved my potted dahlias to where they'll get a little more sun. Maybe that will be the boost they need. I'm sure I've lost Thomas A Edison. Darn. I really wanted that one. Got a picture of one for me, Al?
Well, at least I can get some comfort from my susans and coneflowers.
Local man stikes it rich in "Black Gold" - details after work - Stay tuned!
nap, wish you luck with the dahlias. Al will help you thru this (I hope) that's a really nice shot of your 'old reliables' though.

I hear you about getting mad...unfortunately, I can't show my anger to the boss...as she tends to be bipolar and you don't want to be on her 'get even' list!
So worm boy.....how rich are you??
I'm going to have to check back later. maybe i'm in the wrong line of work ;-)
....ANITA....maybe too filthy a subject for such an eloquent thread. Having re-thunk it, I have decided to slum it back where I am more comfortable in soil and composting. SO....you are all cordially invited to hear the great news! Follow me....
hey..how about a link....
Gram, I'm not going to hold my breath, but Ol' Tom Edison may not be dead! He seems to be trying to stand up again. Oh, he's not looking real healthy, and he's only about 5 inches with his shoes on, but I do think he wants to live! Do you think a little shot of Miracle Grow would be called for here? Al?
These pretty things are growing in Hannah's little wildflower garden. They're only about 2 inches in diameter.
How odd that looks, Andy! But I love it. It must be pretty small to fit into a hosta flower. And I didn't think of coreopsis, but maybe it is. I no longer have the box because I gave it to Hannah's mom, but the flowers were listed there.
Sorry Anita,

Holy worm casings!!! Great pile of #$%^!!!!!!! Congrats Worm Boy. By the way..the link worked :)
My sister, the Quaker, has been visiting us from NC. She stayed at a guest residence at the Friends Meeting House in Cambridge, MA. When we went to pick her up to go to breakfast this morning, she led us around to the rear of the building to this hidden little perennial garden. Had coneflowers, daylilies, siberian iris and some beautiful hosta and a brick path around 3 sides. It was a lovely spot! We happened to catch the volunteer gardener who was deadheading the hosta and I had a nice chat with her about what was growing. We exchanged names and promises to exchange some hosta. It was a wonderful surprise to start a beautiful day! I will need moments like this in the coming months as I will start chemotherapy in about 2 weeks or so. I may get some pictures when I go back with the hosta.
Martha
Martha, if healing wishes help they are coming your way. Go to that garden in your mind when you need to get away. We would love to see pictures and it might be nice for you to have some to remind you of that lovely peaceful spot :-)
get well
gram
Perfectly said, gram. I agree. Best wishes to you, dear gardenmart.
I water my gardens in the morning. On occasion, a delightful hummer drinks from the spray. I just hold the hose steady and still. Each visit is only a few precious seconds. What a way to start a day!
Best wishes Martha, be strong, you will get through it and back in the garden before long.
Last night before it got dark I was inspecting my eaten mint plant to see what has been chowing it, and I didn't see the little rascalls, but I saw the coolest little bug. At first I thought it was a shriveled little plant stem as it was brown and spikey, but when I moved near it I saw it move. It looked like a miniature praying manthus. But brown and rough. He was very interesting. I called my wife over and showed her too. There are just so many wonderous things all around us. Sometimes I wish I could just float over every inch of ground and inspect all thats going on in all those little ecosystems. Is that weird? Maybe its important that we remember that we are just bigger bugs moving around through the grass too. Have a good day all!

Have you seen the movie.."Honey, I shrunk the kids"?
Today I'm off from work so I took my camera over to a friend's house. She has a very 'fun' and interesting garden. Lots of beauty there. She wasn't home but gave me permission to roam around and take pictures. I took over 180, but narrowed it down to about my favorite 120.
It was quiet and peaceful and I wanted to lie down and take a nap in it! Now I get to enjoy it again on the computer. Here's one photo of Donna's garden.
Martha, My sister recently past her 5 year mark after chemo. Other than the Arthritis, she is doing great. You will, too.
Wormboy, I've always been fascinated by the small critters and things in the garden, glad you take the time to look also.
I had fun with the camera this morning, too. There was an old Yellow Swallowtail floating around that didn't mind my getting close. Lucky me, I snapped a dozen shots, a lot for me, Nap.
A while later another, prettier one came by. It was much faster, hardly stopping long enough to get a focus on it. I got a few shots.
Here is the old one.
Andy P
Nap - sorry I dozed off there. Yes you could fertilize T.A. Edison - did you say you moved it, probably why it is unhappy - it will recover.
I don't get many hummers here, except for the fall migration. I have seen them nest in the city, but not around here I guess.
Thanks, Al, for the advice. First thing in the morning I'll give Tom a little swig.
Andy, that's what I need. old butterflies that will hold still ;-). what a great picture!
Too tired to muse today. took a nap instead
gram
Martha, My thoughts are also with you. Good luck. I'll be in Boston over the weekend so my good wishes won't have to travel as far.
If I could drag my family to 1 garden in/around Boston, which one would people suggest?
Wormboy, I may have said this once before, but you are the best! Your joy in life is just contagious.
Dave, The Arnold Arboretum. By far the largest and most divers in the area. Wear good walking shoes and bring the camera.
