I watered - it really hasn't rained much now in a while. I have a long narrow bed along the south side of my house that is shadier early in the year and the plants grow out to the light and then later when it is sunnier they already have their leaning form that I can't do much about.
I had my chicadees bathing in a wet tree again today, they didn't go under the sprinkler like most birds do either.

Thanks everyone for your contributions.

Andy-
I'm sure you mentioned it somewhere, but....what is that camera / lens combination if you don't mind me asking?
Wormboy, It's a basic 4.1 MP Fuji E500 I got on a 'discontinued' sale for $150 in June '05. It's pretty good for Macro shots with the built-in macro setting. I'm up to 2900 shots, so far. 30 today alone, my Mantis are mating lol. (I'm such a peeping-tom.)
I'm told they are available on E-Bay, as well as 5.2 MP E550 for less than what I paid.

Wormboy - I was just thinking the other day that you hadn't stopped in for a chat lately. Worried that the great pit of worms at your house had done you in. I bought an E550 a couple of weeks ago - but it is Andy's genius and Adobe Photoshop (he says) that make his pictures so great - neither of which come with the camera. (I was hoping . . .) Also he has more cool bugs in his yard than anyone else in the world.
Yank, stop it.
Lol,
Yah, my theory was actually that he made em out of plastinc and posed them LOL.
I have been lax about keeping up with you all, sorry. Real life sometimes gets the best of me. But anyway, yah, I had some real frustrations trying to take pictures of the worms that were eating by Bsprourts during the year. I wanted to show you all, but the cannon elf that I bought my wife a few christmases back doesn't have a macro capability and I ended up with blur. And if I take em with my SLR, then I gotta get a disk made, etc. which will never happen. Super frustrating. But then, one of you (can't remember who) turned me on to the Gardensalive website. Man organic gardeners heaven. Those caterpillars are toast. But back to daily musings - the leaves have begun to turn........GENTLEMEN.........START YOUR SHREDDERSSSSS..VROOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Great WB- bring it on over to my house!
Good morning; I was glancing through the musings, and Andy's beautifull pic. of the dragonfry brought back lovely memories of when my son was a toddler (25 yrs ago). We would go down to the lake and he would play at the waters edge. When I wasn't part of his play, I'd lie on a float a few feet away in the water. Frequently, a dragonfly would land on my tummy or arm and stay there until I moved- easily 10 to 15 minutes. The uniqueness of the critter and the amazing translucent colors were positively captivating, and an added bonus..... not even one darn horsefly bothered us! Thanks for the memory Andy.
