meezer your garden was beautiful! one day my husband said to me"you know what's going to happen when you aren't here?" i looked at him and said"yes! someone will move in and tear everything out"" i just figure i'll enjoy it as much as i can and it will be their loss.
Coffee...and for July 15, 2006
Kitty Mom--- If your getting dizzy take some salt tables. It might help. I struggle a lot in the heat myself.
The doctors usually say it is from the by pass. I got a strong notion you inherit some of it. I have a minor bout with heat when I was 14 years. had another one at 19 that was not so not so minor at all layed me up in sick bay and they though aboutr fighing me out at one time. Was in Port Said Egypt and had a long watch on the flight deck in 119 degree heat. Watch yourself. The first time I knew the heat had got me the second time it came on real fast and I just went out.
Thank you katym!!! We got almost a half an inch of rain and the temp dropped from 100 degrees to 75 degrees in about 20 minutes!!! It is so cool and fresh out right now. I keep going out just to enjoy the feeling. Its still cloudy so maybe we will get a little more rain, but at least we *did* get some. IO1-Elaine - hope you got some, too

katym,
I have a tip that might help.
I had a nearly new caddy window stick open in SW (springfield) MO. It was electric, of course, and the drivers window. I had 430 miles to travel to get home.
I taped clear plastic over the window opening, and drove all that way in the middle of the winter. "Colder than a well diggers.....". The noise was deafening, and even tho the caddy had a great heater, it couldn't keep up. Talk about a ride-from-Hades.
When I got home, my DH mentioned it to our next door neighbor who manages the Service dept at a car dealership. He came over, and a minute later the window was working perfect. I was in shock!
I asked him what in the world he had just done-and he said he just tapped (harder than normal)on the window control(both the up and down arrows) 10 to 20 times, and it freed itself. Never had to have another thing done to it- worked perfect.
Larry said that every once in a while a few stray raindrops will hit the control panel(if it's on the door like mine was) even while getting out or in the vehicle. A little rust will form on the connection. He said usually just poking it quickly and firmly for a bit will loosen the rust and you're back in business.
Hope you try it and that it works for you!
Deanna
thanks so much for that tip. I will go out and try it now. =)
Oh, jeez, now we got shade tree mechanics. LOL, hope you don't expect me to fix anything, I do duct tape and WD40,you know if it is supposed to move and it doesn't use the WD40, and if it isn't supposed to move and it does, use the duct tape. That's about all the repairs I know.
well, won't comment, just back from going out to eat, Cracker Barrell, DH loves it. I wanted to try a new BBQ place, but another time for that. Gotta go do some prep for dinner tomorrow, as I don't like to cook after I get in from church. Hello to everybody ~~~~ frantically to all.
Hi Folks,
I've stopped by a few times today, but have not taken the time to write.
dmc - takes me back a bit - muumuus - or as we called them moo-moo-oo--hoos. But you're quite a bit younger than I am; so they may have made several rotations on and off the fashion circuit.
katy - hope DS is feeling better
McCool - glad to hear DH is making progress. I hope the disability comes through.Great order for the candles. I have confidence that you'll be able to get them ready in time.
Twyla - so sorry to hear about the nausea. Are you (or were you) on some sort of med that could cause that? If not, I'd consult a Dr if it doesn't clear up soon.
Bonnie - I'm gonna make a couple of sweat bands. went to fabric shop and was appalled at the price of terry cloth; so I went into a discount store and bought a cheap bath towel for $1.49. Aside from damage to the terry where they had a big price sticker stuck on the towel, it's fine. Should be able to get several bands. I think I'll put Velcro on the closures. The band described by Darius with the moisture crystals sounds interesting, but I think I'll keep it simple.
Happy Birthday to your DS.
Cece - is this the first time you've turned the AC on? Ours has been on quite a bit this summer; though we turn it up to 26 C during the day. Down to 23 overnight to sleep. This is a split-level house and we can escape the heat quite well by moving down a level or two. But my computers are on the top level. And the air-flow to this room is the worst in the house and always has been.
Re cold - I coughed all night; so I filled prescription today. It's for Bioxcin which I take 2 pills once a day for 7 days. Don't feel as good as yesterday; so we'll see.
Elaine (I01), take it easy on the computer please.
Darius, sure hope the visit with your sister goes well.
Katy - hope you didn't get too much rain for the garbage bag to control.
I have a window story too, but not about malfunctioning ones. A few years ago (like a decade), I was returning from visiting my mother in the nursing home in Rochester. The divided highway link to Ottawa was not yet finished and we had started taking an alternative route to the overcrowded main highway that took us over quiet country roads. At one point, I passed a cube van going the other way which must have thrown up a stone which went right through the driver's side window, taking the window with it. I stopped and pulled out what remaining glass I could, got my coat, and continued the last hour into Ottawa with no side window in November. It was getting pretty nippy. And the consequences went on for months. the aftermarket window replacement which the insurance company sent me to didn't fit right and they had the door panel off so many times trying to make adjustments that they eventually broke all the clips and had to replace it. Eventually the insurance people sent me back to Audi for a genuine Audi replacement window which fit. Along the way, I also got glass in the seatbelt retractor which jammed and had to be replaced.
I'm only as far as Maria's post in today's thread, but I shall have to return. It's simply too warm in this room to stay. Think I'll go turn the AC down one more notch.

All I can say is THANK YOU DEANNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It worked! I am so relieved that I dont have to spend the extra $ for repair. My, my at all the benefits that come from being a fellow DG'er. =)
Thanks again, you cant believe how bummed I was about it. Now I have extra money to blow on gardening stuff.
Hooray Katy!! Go celebrate-spend the repair money on flowers!
Wooo I'm so excited for you I think I'll go spend the savings too! How much did we save? Everything is on sale at the gardens shops...
It's not cooling off one bit this evening. Leaving the a/c on all night for sure. Asked DH if he wanted ice cream and he said yes, so I said "Good, go fix it!" He is. LOL That doesn't always work.
Have to go eat ice cream, Sarv's not here to do it and somebody has the carry the torch. I could have made rice pudding for dessert but something kept me from turning on the oven. Maybe it was the electric bill adding up.
Say goodnight Gracie...
Sheila
katym,
Goody, Goody, Goody!!!! I"m so tickled my horrible experience finally turned into a blessing for someone else! I had no idea if it would work on your vehicle, but thought it worth a try. good for you!
DeannaV
Hope I didn't offend anyone with my "shade tree" mechanics comment. I just meant that I couldn't fix anything, regardless of step-by-step instructions, please reference the thread starting for this month!
We did go out tonight to eat, and was planning on taking in a horse event, but decided that it was too hot/muggy to sit out and watch, so came straight home. DS and DSGF came to take a dip in the pool, so visited with them for awhile.
Had a nice surprise about 8'ish, DH answered the phone, and thought it was his friends from Marion, VA, but surprise, surprise, it was Darius. We had a nice chat, and maybe will be visiting in September, our other friends in Marion, Va, and of course, that calls for a trip to see Darius. She is expecting her sister tonight, and hopes to accomplish some more work while she is there.
Well, will be back later to start tomorrow's thread.
Keep chatting, I have read all, but not retaining much of anything. Wonder how Mary is?
Just checking in one more time before I head off to bed.
Sheila I sure hope you told your DH to fix plenty as we have a lot of pepes around the table at coffee now. LOL
Katy ... hurray on the repair! I too need to know how much we've save. Can't go over my part of the group bargain. ;)
Deanna, thanks for posting that info for Katy. It's sure good to know that just in *case*! :-)
Hi Maria ... LOL at you in Ernie's voice ... and throw some of that yummy salmon across the country to me. Am picturing you enjoying that heavenly weather while I sweat in this heat and humidity. You have yourself a wonderful time!
sarv ... same goes to you. Meezers is doing a mighty fine job carrying your torch while you're away. First it was doughnuts and now ice cream! LOL
Susan, I'm not exactly sure how I managed to hurt my arm but haveRotator Cuff Tendonitis/Bursitis
. I have PT twice a week. It's nothing like what you went through, thank goodness, but it sure has been a bother.
Defoe, your supper sounded good to me. There's a Cracker Barrel just up from me and I like it once in a while. Went for a virtual swim in your pool today. LOL
Ann, hope you start feeling better and your cough improves now that you have some meds to take. Good luck with those sweat bands. Of course that won't even be a challange for you with all the sewing, etc you do. ;) Oh and that was *some* window story. Yikes that would have scared my horsey! LOL
Well, the DH took me out for supper tonight since I didn't feel like going last night. We had seafood at a little local seafood place, and I had a combination fried and boiled shrimp along with slaw, hush puppies and cheese grits. It was very good.
Gosh, I kknow I haven't responded to all, but that's about all I can remember for tonight. Think I'll call it quits and just ~~~ to everyone else for now.
nighty night!
~Elaine~
I love Cracker Barrell, too. It is the only place we can take our family of four and spend $25 for a good meal. Not to mention there is so much to look at inside those places and the little games on the table and the store they have. Also, my kids can act like brats in there and no one notices cause its already pretty noisy in those places. ;)
I think I could do a commercial for the place!! LOL Think I will probably head to the bed now. 'night all.
katy
