Mitch did you get someone to fix yours? My monitor keeps blacking out on me, I never know when I am going to be up. :( I dont want to spend much money on it if I dont have to. I am budgeting myself to get a new one in November.
Dallas RU and Plant Swap Have and Wants Oct 8th
Mitch, I have enough yuccas for anybody who wants them! I'll be at the ranch over the week-end and will take a photo to get some ID verification. I'm pretty sure they are rupicola, but there are at least two different kinds on the place. You already have me down for a bunch of plants. I'm afraid my daylilies have taken a beating this summer, so any additional daylilies you might be dividing would be great. Or start me a few more lantanas. I have a huge front bed that needs more tough, deer resistant plants.
great - remind me the week before to get some lantana and Dls for you...
I can take a bunch of babies - I am doing the new pond in a Western Theme... and it is a BIG area to fill... I will have you down for a bunch.
Patrob can you set aside some .MEXICAN MINT MARIGOLD and ALOE THRASKII for me.
Everyone I have lots of Mexican Petunia, tall purple full of seeds. I would like to have some of the short variety.
Ted, I have some of the dwarf purple Mex. Petunia, will put it on your list.
Glad you are up and running again Mitch, even if it isn't on your own yet.
Pat I have you down for the items and thanks for checking my wants.

I am back on my own again! It is so good to be back and not worry about the time!!
Hey Guy, how is your garden surviving??
Ted, I have you down for aloe thraskii and Mexican mint marigold. Thanks for giving some of my 'pups' a home!
Everything a little bit crispy here... but most things are holding on to fall...
I think we are ALL trying to hold on until fall Mitch! LOL!!
My garden isn't doing too well. :( Between the heat, the watering restrictions, and a week in San Antonio when my timers didn't work... well, you get the sad picture. Most of the cuttings I've started haven't made it.
Any chance we could do this again in the spring? We'd probably all have better luck.
Here's what I've promised that I remember. If you aren't on this list, and I promised you something on the old thread, remind me, please!

PBTXlady Would you like some Ajuga for Shade? I will pot you up a piece of the Collossal(sp ones. I can provide a Hosta for your shade also.
Sheila I got three Mexican Flame vine going for you, hopefully at least one will take. :) I looked at them this morning and they still appear to be alive.
Also about five of my Fringe Flower appear to be taking, this is a wonderful plant and I would love to share it.
http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/118915/#67906
PAT did you see my list of Hostas I have available to share, please let me know. Did I see Aphrodite on your list? If so I would surely like a piece of that.:)
Also I am going to have Cannas. I got seven varities I need to get out the pots so they will bloom again.
This message was edited Aug 20, 2006 4:01 PM
Mitch what is the name of that yellow canna with the red spotted throat? you were saying you want one?
Sylvia, this thread is getting rather difficult to wade through! I posted this list of your hostas I am interested in back on August 11, but there were numerous postings about that time and mine sort of got lost in the crowd. I would love to have even a small piece of Striptease, Ventricosa, Permanent Wave, Undulata, or So Sweet. I think my Francee has died too.
I don't have Aphrodite. My hostas look worse and worse every day, but I keep watering and hoping that conditions will get better. They are in shade, but the temp is over 100 every day and the wind blows all the time. They look fried. Are you looking for plants other than hostas?
Pbtxlady. I have some Daturas that you can have, I will take the Skullcap.
Thank you.
Josephine.
pbtxlady, I have the obedient plant I can pot up for you. They are calling "red" in PF, but it is violet for me, like the picture. http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/108350/index.html
I would love to have some coreopsis seed, I don't have any.
Thanks Sylvia, hope the flame vine takes too. I have a few of the fringe flower shrubs that I got last year, they are pretty Sylvia, hope your cuttings make it, I know others would love it.
I also have coreopsis seeds. Native and non-native.
Okay, I have been back through this entire thread and my d-mail checking to see if I have down what I have promised everyone. I found and corrected several omissions. My list is way back at the top of this thread (second posting). Please check to see if I have included you and everything you wanted. Let me know if I have made any mistakes!
The only plant I have promised that appears to be totally gone from my garden is the salvia 'Argentine Skies.' At least when the plant by its marker bloomed, it was red, not blue. I'm thinking 'Lady in Red' seedling. :>( I think Debbie and Ted were the two who had wanted it. I plan to replace it, and if I am able find one soon, I will still have time to root cuttings.
Patricia
Carla (loonie1), would you try to root me a couple of pieces of your East Friesland salvia? I do have you on my list now for Mexican mint marigolds.
Thanks,
Patricia
pbtxlady, I want to put your name on some plants! When you have time, check my list (2nd posting on this thread). I have 'Pink Bouquet' obedient plant, but please see what else you could use.
LOL! Pat I am getting very confused myself. I need to print this thread and highlight things. Anyway I will have you two or three Hostas. Pat its time for Hostas to go out now. Just because you dont see them does not mean they are not there. You should see mine some are just blooming a way and some are all dried up.
Look at Saisha Jima and it surrounds. :)
Oh, Sylvia, if you have hostas to spare, I could really use them. I'm not picky about what kind--I like them all. And yes, I have shade for ajugas too.
Josephine, which skullcap did you want? I have both the pink & the blue. The blue ones aren't doing well, though, so if it's that one, it'll probably have to be an unrooted cutting. Maybe you can root it up and have better luck than I am. And yes, I'd love one of your daturas.
Yes, please, Sheila, on the obedient plant. Putting aside coreopsis seeds with your name on them. Anything else I can bring for you?
Debbie, what kind of coreopsis seeds do you have?
Patricia, I could use your verbascum and liatris. Don't have anything in those colors. I have old-fashioned mulleins that are some of my favorites, so I'd be especially interested in trying some of their cousins.
Also, Patricia, I noticed that you are rooting all your salvias. Several people had asked for my Mystic Spires, but I'm having no luck at all getting it to root. Can you fill me in on how you're doing it? It's such a pretty plant--I'd love to share it. Same with May Night.
.. I love May Night too ... been lusting after it since it first came out.
Thanks Debbie, I would love coreopsis seed from you also. I have a lot of bare spots since we put in another huge bed.
Pbtxlady, you have the Obedient, the seeds are fine.
Oh, on the May Night my plants self-seeded quite a few plants last year. I have a couple promised, but bet I can spare another if you like.
Edited to say ....You too Sylvia, I will put you down.

ohh Thank you very much Sheila! :)
pbtxlady I would like sone coreopsis: Limerock Ruby, Early Sunrise, Heaven's Gate, Moonbeam and (maybe) Autumn Blush also if you have any left. I have Datura seeds and can take cuttings from some brugs that have not died. See my list.

I know I have early sunrise and the native variety. I need to go dig through my seed box and look if I've got more coreopsis seeds. I need to look thru this entire thread next weekend--most of this stuff plus more I know I can have ready at the college station RU--Dallas may be pushing it--it cools off later down here. The angelonia is fine--it never fails to root. I've also got more pipevine than I thought I would have. But then again, Oct is pretty far off too.
pbtxlady, Will you also add the Dragon's Blood sedum for me? I added the Obedient and May Night to my list for you, thanks.
did someone say they had a native passion vine?
pbtxlady, I have had good luck rooting many salvias by taking cuttings of new growth 4-6 inches long, cutting right below a leaf node. Leave the top few sets of leaves. I have a little jar of rooting hormone from Wal-Mart, but I seem to get roots whether I use it or not. Stick the cuttings in small cups or pots of very damp potting soil (Josephine posted a good recipe earlier), and cap with a 2 or 3 liter soft drink bottle with the bottom cut out but the cap left on. Place the mini-greenhouse out of direct sunlight and check every few days to make sure the potting soil is moist.
My greenhouse stays in the lower 90's during the heat of the day because I have an exhaust fan running and pulling air through the window that's opened about a foot and a misting hose going in the top. It works like a swamp cooler. A double layer of shade cloth on the roof cuts the direct sun. Without that arrangement, I would put the cuttings in the shade outside and check moisture every other day at least. Before we built the greenhouse, I sometimes brought cuttings in and rooted them on the kitchen cabinet. They start rooting in one to two weeks and usually have roots coming out the holes in the pot in three. That's when I remove the tops and declare them ready to go. You could wait until mid-September and still have salvias ready for the Dallas swap.
Hope this helps! (If they still don't root for you, I'll glad take a few cuttings.) I have you down for verbascum and liatris.

Anyone have black or feather dalea, texas white buckeye, or mexican starleaf (choisya dumosa)? I will have an extra mexican buckeye. I just found one in the front border.
Patricia (Patrob), I will try rooting East Friesland for you.
Carla
Thank you, Carla!
Sure, Sheila, glad to add the Dragon's Blood. Such a pretty little thing.
I have several May Nights, so please save any extras for Sylvia. They are so pretty... one of the few things that still look great in August. But I haven't found any seedlings yet and can't seem to get them rooted. Same with Mystic Spires.
I just seem to be really, really bad at propagation. :( I'm going to try Patricia's mini-greenhouse recipe and see if I can't do better with some of these things.
TARogers, you're on my list for coreopsis seeds. All should be fine except maybe the Autumn Blush. It's a plug from a coop, and it's growing like crazy, but it may not bloom by October. If it doesn't make the plant swap, I'll send you some seeds when it does.
Somebody mentioned cosmos... did I remember to put pink cosmos seeds on my share list?
LOL, Debbie, on the marsupials. We have had rats this year, going after the bird seed. I fly right out of my skin every time I hear something in the brush. I was so worried about them that I didn't even notice the little snake until I just about picked the darn thing up... !!!!
Sylvia - my Brugs all look dead from the heat... if they make it I will bring all three to you they need more shade then I can give them....
Mitch, on another thread I saw where they were having heat problems with the brugs and created a bog for them. They perked up and looked better the nex day. They dug a trench lined it with plastic then put the soil and plants back in. Being in the ground and with the extra moisture helped a lot.
I will give it a try... my small pear that shade them lost its leaves in less then a week already and well there went the shade...
I will try anything right now.
Here is the link if you want to know more about it.
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/642170/
I am sure Sylvia would come take them off your hands though!!
OK Folks--I have revised my haves list--make requests for those natives now if possible! Those are coming from seed so I need to sow them this weekend...otherwise I wait until October and you will have to wait for the spring. I will be at the Dallas swap unless a meteor falls on me, or some other such bizarre unforeseen event (in other words I will be there).
MY hyssop is dead--but I know a guy I gave some plants to, I'm going to check his tomorrow and take cuttings. I'm leaving it on the list--just no new requests please.
Folks--rangoon creepers are a challenge. But I think I can air layer them. I'll do my best.
Sylvia--Think SEDUMS, think SEDUMS...... =) =) =)
I could survive without hosta's if you could put me on your list for some SEDUMS(she ducks and runs from the monitor)
Greenie--I have lemon verbena but not lemon balm...want me to root you some?
Pat-- I have 3 small coneflowers 'Magnus' and will bring those to you. Do you want a Calgary Stampede Daylilly? I would also like to have a yucca rupicola please. I'll start you some rudbeckia seeds too. They are usually not a problem for me to grow.
Renatelynne-
I will start you a rangoon creeper. May I have a trailing rosemary? I also can start you some autumn joy sedum if you want those.
Indirt--
I would like a wooly ironweed. I have beautyberry and red crossvine. You and me both dream of that Prairie Celestial--I am on a guys waiting list for those bulbs--will let you know when he tells me he has them in again. I also have a native pipevine, unknown at this time variety, will save it for you. Maybe I will know the variety by then. I know it is not the gicantium or the very small 12" one whose name evades me at the moment (I am trying to propgage the small one presently). I do know it is a native american lower mid-west pipevine. The seeds came from either OK, ARK, or MO. I just can't remember which.
pbtxlady--
Somewhere here I got the idea you have some dragon's blood sedum. If so, may I have some? I have the red crossvine. I know I have the native texas coreopsis 'tickseed' and early sunrise. Maybe some others. Let me get back to you on that. I have losts of seeds in a great big wooden box. I will go thru them sometime prior to the weekend.
Ted--
I would like a cholla too. I'm not quite sure what that says about my gender, but I'll worry about that later.
Toby--
I would like that Shantung Maple if it still needs a home. I have one large gulf coast muhly and can start you seeds of more and start seeds of mexican feather grass or just trade you the seeds. I also have some kind of Dalea seeds but they were given to me under another namenclature--let me check on that.
Loveshercowdog--I would be honored to have a white Natchez Crepe Myrtle. Do I have anything you want?
That's all for now folks-now I go up to the top to re-edit--please look back up there--have I forgotten anyone? please let me know--I have roadrunner so long posts load fast for me--lol
Debbie
