Oh Darius- too bad!! But maybe this is just a first!!! You may end up with a ring side seat for the next one!

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Okay, back from church, have the second cooking of green beans on. After this marathon session, will have canned 92 quarts, this for DM, DMIL and me. That is quite enough.

ves, sorry about your noisy night last night. Those ground squirrels are cute, but can cause a lot of damage.

ViAnn, are you feeling better?

cc, have you had any luck with the pictures?

M5, the phone came back to life after being hung on the base all night. So will start looking for a new one, as this one's life is probably expectancy nearing it's end.

I01, the computer guy called and won't be here until Friday.

Susieq. How nice to have a DG member near you. I see lot's of nursery shopping in your future!!

dmc, chippies as a squeaky toy for Sammi and Olivia, I really LOL.

Sarv, awful about Hygenist's DH and whole family. Rats on the library not honoring your card, smile sweetly, and say pretty please!! Yuk on those Japanese Beetles, one year they were so bad here that if you walked in the grass , you could hear them crunching underfood. NO FISHING, take the 2x6 with you.

Darius, DH had the sleep apnea test, and has a CPAP machine, he uses. Yes you could handle a puppy, what is the cat gonna think?

Hope, send me your e-mail address---please.

Well, after I got home from the grocery, DH had beans all broken, so blanched them, put them in jars, and have the last batch on canning now. This time there is 13 quarts. These are for DMIL. Made supper, showered and went to church.

Next week I will have corn and lima beans ready. I think the DH is trying to kill my by overworking me, just wish he would use the gun, it would be quicker and easier!!

Well, gonna go read some of the book I have started, I dare not sit for long, because I tend to go to sleep. Almost did that in Bible study tonight. DH nudged me a time or two, stepped on my sandled foot, said it was an accident, think he was just trying to make sure I didn't fall asleep.

Will be back later.

Coons # 13 and 14 are history!! I was just going out to Sevin my plants and looked out back and saw two coons nosing around the traps - then they scampered up our cherry tree. If I hadn't seen them on the ground, I would never have seen them in the tree! I ran to our neighbors and told him - he grabbed his gun and went out to the tree and got them. I sure hope this is the end of them - I feel so bad doing them in, but I can't tell you the number of years they go down a complete row/rows of sweet corn and eat every ear.

Went to the grocery store and they had shredded cheese for 4 for $5. I grabbed 4 pkgs and when I got home I happened to look at the receipt and I paid over $4 for EACH pkg. Grrrr- now I have to make a dash back to the store tomorrow before we leave. Things like that really send me over the edge!!

Hope, glad your daughter is coming - tell her to come soon!!

Darius- I think you would do fine with a dog!! Especially since your carpeting is gone!!

Defoe- slow down - you've canned enough!!! I only have 17 qts of cherry juice canned, but it is tasty. Next year I'll do more!! A friend just called- they are emptying out her FIL's house - she has 3 huge boxes of canning jars for me! I may not use them all, but DS wants to can some salmon and venison, so he'll be happy with them. I plan on doing up tomatoes and tomato juice , oh and grape juice- that's all!! Have any of you ever made grape pie? It is very tasty- you'd think it was blueberry.

I can tell already I am going to have a sleepless night- I still have so much to do before we leave tomorrow. I probably should just stay up all night and get everything done - then sleep during the day tomorrow - but I know that wouldn't work for me either!

DIL just dropped off 5 huge tote bags with DGS clothes for his 10 days with us!! You can sure tell she isn't a camper - space is at a premium...he must have every piece of clothing he owns!! They were going to come up for the weekend, but she is still losing her cookies and doesn't want to put all of us thru that - I am thankful - when I hear someone sick, I soon follow!!

Well, time to check some other forums - maybe I'll have a minute to check into chat in the morning....sleep tight (expecially Darius!!)

Just in from church and got the kids bathed and to bed. Tomorrow night we will be starting Vacation Bible School at the church and I will be a "group leader" (teacher). That's what they are calling it. Anyway tonight at church I found out all of the leaders will have to wear biblical looking costumes. I didnt realize that earlier and now am thinking I will look very silly but at least the kids will get something out of it....maybe? !

Defoe- Good grief, I cant imagine canning that mean beans!! I bet you dont even want to look at another bean after all of this. Very sweet of you to do all of that work for DM and DMIL. I hope they are very appreciative.

Hope/Twyla- Whatever you do, dont feel like you are being a bum just because you need some help. There are times when everyone needs help for one thing or another and that is what charity groups are there for...to see that no one has to do without when something is truly needed. Also remember that "this too shall pass" (a quote my DM likes to say that is taken from the bible).

Sarv- enjoy your vacation and be glad you are fortunate and healthy enough to travel and vacate. Sounds like a fun trip. We will not get a family vacation this year since my DH is going to school at night and working full time as well, we just dont have the extra time...or $!!! School tuition is pretty pricey.

Have just finished eating dinner (soup) and getting things ready for tomorrow morning now. Back to the old "salt mines". Ha!! LOL-- HURRY, WEEKEND, HURRY!!!

Millbury, MA(Zone 5a)

Hi everyone and Happy Birthday, Mary!

I've been chasing myself around in ever decreasing circles and managed to miss Dmcd's birthday. I did read everything and thought that the carriage was spectacular. (Have to admit that I also got a chuckle out of the description of the exasperated bride.)

I01, is the splint for the tendonitus or for the carpal tunnel? I wear one on each hand at night for carpal tunnel, but never wore the brace for the elbow injury to bed. (Probably did things wrong as I never consulted a doctor about either problem.) You're doing great anyway and there's absolutely no need to apologise to any of us

Bonnie, I was all ready to congratulate you on the successful link last night, when I came over here and found that this one didn't work. I can't imagine what the problem is, but, if it's any consolation, I've found that I can work on my website from my computer at work and upload it with no problem whatsoever. If I try to do the same thing from the home computer, I end up with complete gibberish. I have no idea what the problem might be.

sarv, enjoy your camping trip! Is there any way that DH might sleep a little too long in the morning so that you get to take his place in the fishing party? Sorry, but if he doesn't want to take your boat and won't even "share" (his turn one day, your turn the next), I don't have a whole lot of pity for him! Your current weather sounds awful! It's hot and humid here as well, but generally so far it hasn't gone over into the nineties. We've had a few really hard rain showers the past two days, but have avoided the golfball sized hail and other nasties so far.

Darius, good luck with the tests. I hope that the results will help you to feel better and more like your old self. Unless they give you something to help you to sleep, I'm another one who cannot imagine being able to go to sleep under those conditions. It's hard enough under ideal conditions!

Bonnie, please take some time out for yourself, even if it's only a half hour break for a dip in your pool once every couple of hours. It's great how much of the garden produce you've been preserving, but I've gotten kind of fond of you and would like to have you stick around for awhile. Okay? I have a tendency to do the same kind of thing --- take on more work than I really have time to do, (and I do get lectures on it, believe me!)

Kooger, speaking of tests, I hope that you have the best possible outcome and that the medication is immediately effective for you. Know that you have all the positive thoughts that I can muster going in your direction! Also hope that your DH is feeling much better very soon.

I01, is the splint for the tendonitus or for the carpal tunnel? I usually wear splints on both hands at night, but just a fingerless glove (Handeze) during the day on my left hand which is worse than the right hand. I used a brace on my forearm that kept the muscles in my arm from fully contracting to spare my elbow when I got tendonitus from a losing battle with bramble roots a year ago last Spring. Please do take care of it now before it can get any worse!

Twyla, please e-mail me or D-mail me soon. I'd like to talk to you if at all possible.

To everyone who's inquired, DH seems to be coming along pretty well. It will probably be at least another week before he can go back to work, but his feet seem to be getting better and he might be able to get a prescription for special shoes that would help keep the pressure off so that he can go back to work at Trader Joe's without risking his health. He is extremely bored ---especially since he has a tendency to go to sleep if his feet are raised up or if he lies down. He told me that he seems to go into a kind of fugue state and that he can't really even think clearly. That sounds pretty lousy to me, but, unfortunatelly, there's nothing I can do to help him with this. Hopefully, he won't have to be immobilized for much longer.

I don't really want the chipmunks in the house, but they're SO CUTE! I don't think that I could kill one under most any circumstances. One of our cats, on the other hand, seems to specialize in chipmunks. He's very good at catching them. I keep asking him why he doesn't like the mice that colonize the house. He doesn't answer.

V-ann, hope you get over that cold ASAP! Summer colds always seem worse somehow. (not that anybody enjoys Winter colds either!) I really hate it when people come into my store and position the coughing and sneezing child directly across from me at the register stand. I get all the negatives without any of the positives.

Ernie, thanks for reporting on Maria's progress. I'm glad to hear that she had a good flight and is enjoying the trip so far.

Hi and goodnight to cece, pod, suzieq, and ves (and to anyone I've inadvertantly left out). I'm afraid the I've just "run out of steam" and have to call it a night.

Sleep well, everyone.

E. McCool

Hi everyone
Okay I'm jumping up and down a bit cause I told the DH I didn't think the splint fit my hand right. I've been real faithful wearing the thing except for that few minutes this afternoon but my hand and arm were tingling *really* bad. So today I took it with me and showed the therapist how it fit. She said ... oh no hon, that thing is tooo big. It's a small, but your hands are tiny. We'll have to order a smaller one. So yea I'm free for now!!! My shoulder feels some better after that ultrsound massage thing they do.

Defoe, my goodness ... that's a lot of green beans. LOL

Sarv, I sure hope you have a wonderful time on your trip and that you got all the critters this time.

Ann, I'm so sorry to hear you've been under the weather. Sure hope your cold gets better real soon.

Mary, how are your horses doing? I hope you had a wonderful birthday supper tonight!

Twyla, I'm praying that you get the help you need and you won't have to be in that constatnt pain.

Darius, I know you're already gone by now ... but you're in my thoughts and prayers tonight. Oh and of course you need a dog! :-)

Kooger ... so sorry you are having problems and aren't feeling well. You are also in my prayers. Gosh I just hate it when we have so many people feeling bumb!

Please forgive me for not speaking to everyone but I need to get up. Just can't sit here for long. Hi to everyone I've missed. Am ~~~ to all y'all.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

hello all , yes i hope she shows up usually only when they want me to keep 5 kids have raised them all nearly.. if she does not i will go myself i did for my surgeries.. so.. its so hot in here going to lay down get up early call that one dentist double check before drive out there..i did forget ask about credit card when talked to nurse.. thanks everyone .. be well safe.. your all kind.. thoughtful..

ASAP = Always Smile At People

Mccool ... the splint is for carpal tunnel ... they will get one that fits the next time. It's the Rotator Cuff Tendonitis that's really giving me a fit I think. Thanks so much, though for all the well wishes.

Twyla ... I just *love* that! I'll always remember it! LOL

Sarv, good grief, has this DIL ever gone camping? That is a good amount of clothes, doesn't she allow him to wear things twice? Hope you get a good night's sleep, and feel really good tomorrow morning for the take off!!

Katym, costumes, good grief, teaching is hard enough without being in probably uncomfortable clothes to do it. In my younger years, taught VBS every year, but finally, decided that the younger ones needed practice. Probably would choke the little ones now, if confined with them too long. (not really)

McCool, glad to hear that the DH is doing better. Shoes are definately a good investment. If there is a shoe that will help with his condition, and keep him comfortable, it is worth an investment. Cats do not communicate very well. Mine, wouldn't know a mouse or chipmunk if it walked up and tweeked her nose. Food seems to be her big deal in life. As she is an inside/outside cat, mostly goes out at night, who knows what she does. May do all her hunting/killing unbeknownst to me. She may be the Great Grey Hunter in the neighborhood. About computers, I only have this one, and if it is on the fritz, have no backup. Isn't it funny, how they can be so different?

I01, no wonder the thingamaggie isn't comfortable. If it doesn't fit it wouldn't help/feel comfortable in a million years. I have had braces, other appliances, casts, and none would be on the list of things I would choose for comfort. So, how long will it be before you get a new/smaller one? Glad to hear that the PT made the shoulder feel better. I can hear you singing "I'm free" from way up here!!

Hope, I sure hope the daughter comes tomorrow and takes you to the dentist. There is nothing as bad as tooth/mouth pain. Thanks for the e-mail address, would like to chat with you.

I made a fresh peach cobbler, about 3/4 of it is on the counter, you all need a bedtime snack.

Neighbor and I are going in the morning to a storage facility sale. Evidently, unpaid storage units are auctioned off. She deals in glassware/antiques, and hopes to find a bonanza. Will let you know how that goes.

Well, thanks everyone for the commiseration on the canning I have been doing. I just hate to see anything go to waste, but this is getting downright ridiculous. But really, this only equals out to about 30 quarts for each of us. I am canning one more batch (7 quarts) for myself, then told the DH to advertise them in the paper, or put up a sign at the end of the garden, and sell them. They are bringing $22.00 a bushel. I wish all of you were closer, they would be yours for the picking. The bad thing is, next week it will be corn and lima beans. I told him tonight, if he was trying to kill me, a gun shot would be more humane than working me to death!! LOL.

Well, gonna try again in a few minutes to post the daily, even if I haven't been successful, one thing you can say about me I am persistent. You can just call me "the thread starter who wasn't". Okay all my back up help, be ready. I really do appreciate you.
