Diary chronology

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

I posted on the Journal & Diary forum, but perhaps this is where it should have gone. As it stands, the Diary feature is the one I seem to enjoy the most. A hard decision when there are several others which give me a great deal of joy.
My question, and request, if it isn't too difficult or unwarranted, is as follows:

1. It would be nice to start a tab with an entry which would remain as the header/first entry.
2. The second, third etc. entries would follow in order, top to bottom.
3. All subsequent entries would follow the same order regardless of the day or time entered.
4. A "skip to new" feature would eliminate having to scroll through the entries to get to the most recent post.
5. A way to printout either one entry, the whole tab or even the entire Diary would be exciting.

I have kept a paper journal for over 20 years and find keeping a Diary on DG to be easier and more fun. It would be a gas if I was able to incorporate a hard copy of my DG Diary with my paper journal. Being computer illiterate I can't tell if this is an unorthodox request or not.
Thanks Dave, you have created a wonderful child here and I love it .

I just checked out your diary. Wow, you have some serious talent working with wood!
Very nice. :-}

Hi Belvanie,

I haven't forgotten about this; it's just quite a bit of stuff to work through.

Item #1 is finished. To access it, click on "Edit this tab" when you are in your edit diary area.

Item #4, the skip to new, is implemented now, too. The option appears on the top-right of the tab when you are viewing someone's diary tab. Note that it only appears if there is new content. If there's no new entries since you last visited it, the Skip to New will not appear.

I have to give more thought to the issue of ordering the entries. We've gone back and forth on it a lot and I'm not sure there's much more I can do.... I'll give it more thought.

Belvanie,

Regarding the "print a journal" feature, you can do that right now. Just select the text that you want to print, as if you were going to copy and paste it. Then, while it's selected, go to File and click on Print, and then make sure that the area that says something like "Print only the selected area" is chosen, and then at that point it will just print the text you selected. Easy as pie!

best,
dave

Thanks for the tip Dave. My iMac has a thing called "grab" that works like you said. Before when I selected an entry it printed the entire thread, up to 16 pages in some cases. Now I know how to do it. Thanks again.
