Housekeeping Tip

-South Central-, IL(Zone 6a)

Here's a Housekeeping Tip all of us Plantaholics can really use!

Always keep several get well cards on the mantel... so if unexpected guests arrive, they will think you've been sick and unable to clean.

Did you ever think of that? It's a perfect alibi!!!!

That is so cute. I would have never thought of that one.

ROFL!!! That is awesome!! I'll have to email that to some folks. =)

Received this news from Pirl:

Erma Bombeck kept the vacuum plugged in (but not turned on) in the living room so people would have to believe she was cleaning.

Another woman kept her hat (women used to wear hats) by the front door and when someone rang the bell she'd plop on her hat, open the door and shut it behind her and say she was just on her way to a meeting.

Tir_Na_Nog: More good ideas! I really like them :)

I love all those Ideas! I do that with the vacuum, but it's because I just haven't put it away! I'm afraid I get up in the morning, grab my coffee and head out to the garden. I'd just much rather be outside. I'll clean the house in the winter...did I mention it's California and we only got 5 inches of rain this year? You can see how much time I spend in the house. The only thing keeping me in the house lately is DG. I'm spending waaaay to much time here, someone will think that since I'm in the house, I could be cleaning.. I read years ago someone's comment about wanting her tombstone to say something a little more interesting than "she kept a clean house"!

I remember Phyllis Diller said she dabbed O Cedar Oil behind her ears before Fang came home so she would smell tired.

Hee hee hee ;)

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

kyjoy, I will have to remember that one about the O Cedar Oil..........(guess that means I should go get a bottle of it, tho, first, shouldn't I??)

Oh I love these, except I could never pull off the hat one. Don't think I'd look presentable in my DG T shirt, flip flops, and cut offs with my cutsie little hat going to a meeting. LOL The vacuum trick *does* work, though. Even the DH falls for that one! ;)

Just keep your flip flops by the front door. =)

You can tell people that you need to keep your windows dirty to save the birds..it's dangerous for them when they keep flying into them.

Exactly! That's why I don't wash mine! LOL

Pittsboro, NC(Zone 7a)

Got a big chuckle when I read this thread. I love those household hints! LOL

Keep the dishwasher door open, make it look like you are in the process of loading it to start it.

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

It is funny that you mention that about the birds. I was sitting here at my desk yesterday and a bird flew right into it, bounced off and kept on flying. How funny.
