What's Blooming in Canada part 3
I guess I should have waited...there were more treats to come. Ü

You're welcome - I'm glad you enjoyed them. --Ginny
Ginnylynn
wow! How was your "garden watchdog "made ?
that looks great !
Please share your secret
I really enjoy these visits and am tempted to copy some ideas
off to the store to follow up on some of the plants named !
Please feel free to copy away! I honestly believe that duplication is one of the highest forms of flattery :-)
My "garden watchdog" is actually a commercially available "Forest Face". Unfortunately, the only claim to fame I have with it is that I recognized a good spot to hang it on my tree. Just do a google search on "Forest Face" and you'll find a number of online storefronts you can purchase them from. You might even find stores in your area that carry them.

Looking lovely Ginny, Glenda and Carol. Ü
Drooling over your Japanese Maple Ginny and am wondering if mine, growing in a pot, will ever attain that size? ;) Actually have a Sugar Maple potted too (poor thing but at least it isn't dying in a box at WalMart).
Hey Pam. We bought that Japanese Maple last fall at its current size, and its rootball was still wrapped in burlap. So I think if you give it a big enough pot, it will probably grow up big and strong too :-)
Thanks Ginny! Ü
Nice pictures, ginnylynn. I also love the "Forest Face". And the begonia, in particular.
fancyvan, looking at your peonies, I'm thinking that when we dig up and redo the window well beside which my peonies are located that maybe I should get some new ones. I like the Coral 'n Gold in particular.

If the bloom wasn't so short lived and alway getting bashed down by violent thunder storms in our climate, I think there would be another addiction coming on.
Ann
fancyvan were are you ordering it from, what a beauty i think i would like to get that one to.

I ordered from here last year - he is in Ontario. Most of his roots are brought in from other sources although I understand he is starting to grow some of his own.
I know people here who order from the USA but I have not tried that yet.

I took a look at the site. I find the color varies a lot from one page to another. And unless I missed it, the descriptions were very brief. For someone who has not bought Peonies in over 20 years, is there a recommended site that lists varieties with descriptions of their color, fragrance or not, bloom time (early, mid, late) without having to click on each individual variety's picture? I need to learn more before I order new ones with all the new varieties available.
Ann
Thanks Todd. I'll try to make a note of that, but beyond Hostas and Heucheras, I'm not much into naming the varieties. LOL
I've had some self-seeding, but so far not too much. They make great cut flowers; so at this time, more would not be a problem.

ViolaAnn what a pretty hanging basket i like the color combo.
the town were i live are putting hangin baskets through the town myself and a couple other agreed to plant them up now that i seen that one im going to do one like it .
Thanks fancyvan for that link just got through looking at them all i have my eye on a fue, some of them are not cheep.
Some years ago I planted a Dropmore Scarlett Honeysuckle on one side of the arch on the garden gate. Neglecting to read about it I carefully pruned it down every year. Never flowered! About 3 years ago a gardening neighbor said to me Carol I dont think you are supposed to prune it down. So then I read about it! No more pruning! Now 3 years later it has for the first time really flowered and the bees are all over it.This is just the middle part of it.
