Your opinions...Funny or Smart

112, now that is interesting! Most people say 100. My neighbors up the street say 103 to be different and I adopted their way of thinking.

Which would I choose? Hmmmm.....whichever one would allow me to live my life in such a way that when I'm gone, those who knew me best would declare my life "successful" using this classic definition as the measuring yardstick:

Quoting:
"He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who has left the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; who has never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it; who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had; whose life was an inspiration; whose memory a benediction."

That's beautiful, and about sums it all up doesn't it. I see a few things I need to work on.

Such valuable thought condensed for an essay submission. And an exceptional gift for the future ...

And to think, in that year .. $250 was an exceptional amount to be awarded for recognition.

It is a fine piece, and to me, $250 is still no trifle. I wonder what that would translate in today's terms?

billyporter, different is me. :-)

Terry, I love that piece. Bessie Stanley is famous for writing something, isn't she? What was it?

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

The world is in dire need of more Bessie Stanley's.

“He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much.”

Paws, in her day the $250 was enough to pay off Bessie's mortgage!
