I have some gaillardia, not sure which type. This year the one plant went a little goofey and started setting flowers on top of flowers. The new flower stems come right out of the used flower. It isn't from wet seed heads as they are there when the parent flower is still in bloom. I didn't think the flowers would mature, but they have and have long stems also.
What caused this? Is this some sort of mutation, or is it a disease thing?
Not sure where to ask this question
I really don't know but u might want to read this thread - all about diseases.

Thanks, I am beginning to think it must be something hormonal. Wouldn't it be weird if the Messenger affected it.
You could email a few folks that contributed to that thread - some are very knowledgeable! I hope u figure it out.
