I can't wait! And I was thinking the exact same thing. Guy can show us both how it's done to one's own head. That will truly be interesting. We can both take pictures and share them with everyone!
As an aside that I know Guy and Equil will understand.....my dad just left....sigh.
For mikekilhoffer
I love exploding ticks with a big fireplace lighter! POP!!!
Oh Patrick! What a great idea! Guy do you have one, or do you need either Equil or me to bring one so you can show us first hand how it's done?? I think I can speak for Equil and say we both are honored to learn from a master!
Just roll the old fur ball, ah, I mean Guy, around in some tall grass and you'll be sure to attrack a victum, I mean tick....
Nah, I bet Guy's got plenty of permanent residents already on him. If he's already done the exploding tick thing before Equil and I can get there, we will do as you advise.

Those are called cooties. Besides, the head trick works only if you're a woman, and is especially effective on Blondes. You need an empty head, ya know!
Yes, I understand the aside.
Guy S.
Is that why I itch so bad since we were there?? Good grief. No wonder. You are blonde remember? Something like sun blonde?
No, ya gotta be female so there's not much brain to start with, and being blonde then helps even more in that regard. Sun-blonde doesn't count, and hair color doesn't matter at all if you're male!
Guy S.
Yea...but, before you were Guy, ya know........??
Patrick, You're certainly welcome at my house too. Would you please be so kind as to join us and do the honors of helping Terry and me roll Guy around on the ground? He's very tall and we could sure use a little help with a log that's darn near 6.5' tall. After we roll him around a good long time to ensure he has picked up a few hitch hikers, Terry and me would be honored if you would pass Guy the barbecue lighter so we can all see how a master does this exploding tick on head deal. Being that she and I are blond and all, we'd really like to give him a good second roll so that we can really get the chance to let the process sink in. I think this demonstration will not only be educational but also highly entertaining.
Cooties, eh?
I was always Guy. And everyone knows, guys make all the rules! Are we having fun yet?
Bye!
Oh yes Patrick!! Do come and help us poor poor blondes. We might accidentally do something to harm Guy and his manhood.....I just made myself spit on the computer screen!! Oh.....I am SO having FUN!!!
Its a date!
And, by the way, I was a blonde before I became "sunblonde", so I should fit right in, even if I am one of the superior "Y"s. Imagine, exploding cooties! I hope we can convince Guy to allow us to assist him so he can perform multiple explosions. I understand that "X"s like that sort of thing.
POP! POP! POP!
Oh Yea...
Maybe we should do this over the Fourth so we don't get arrested....
Oh Patrick, you get around Equil and me, and you'll quickly realize that the "Y"s aren't superior. That's all right though, you'll learn quickly, I have no doubt. Ya know, the 3rd will be our (my husband and me, not Guy and me) anniversary. We can load Guy with 25 ticks and cooties and set him off! What a wonderful gift......I can't wait!
POP X'S 25!!!
Yes! I'm so glad your going to help us poor blondes.
Be at my house Saturday morning at 9 am. That's when we're meeting to explode ticks and well... we'll be exchanging a few plants too. Oh! I forgot! I can introduce you all to the new puppy! We fondly refer to him as Electrolux so what ever hair Guy has left after he does his exploding tick demonstration can be sucked off by Little Lurch.
9 AM?? Surely you jest......how about 10:30 to 11? It's what? 3 hours up there? Probably more with all the interstate traffic/construction?
What a cutie! My sister went out of town for a long weekend. Lucky me gets to go down and let out her dog. I don't need a shower now, he took care of that. Cleaned my glasses real good too! How can such a huge dog still be a puppy? Yellow lab....named Thor. He looks and acts more like a Guy though.
Yes this dog acts like Guy, he's a real sweetheart... and by gosh by golly- parts of him are sun blond too. He's right around a year in age. Great Danes grow until they are 2. He will probably pick up another 3-4" at the shoulder and will easily pack on 30-40 lbs if not more. He's a growing boy! You can see him yourself on Saturday, wear a raincoat... he's a slobber monster and he licks.
10:30 to 11:00 am is fine too. I can take you out to lunch somewhere. It's quantity for me not necessarily quality and there are a few smorgasbords up this way as well as a few family style restaurants that fit the bill. The directions I sent you by pass all the nastiest congestion. They'll probably take you about 2 miles out of the way but they should shave your travel time down to 2.5 hours.
Does the dog have rust in his ears too? j/k
We'll leave around 8 am. Maybe earlier if we're lucky. I don't have a cell phone, so if we get lost, I'll find a gas station and call you. (And yes Guy, I can too read a map!)
Well, if you can read a map and drive at the same time... you're one step ahead of me. I miss exits repeatedly, I end up beside semis and miss road signs, I get in the wrong lanes at toll booths and I sometimes get distracted looking at plants and sort of inch over into someone else's lane. I'm such a pleasure to drive with. That's why most people won't drive with me.
If I'm with a girlfriend, and we're talking talking talking, then yep, I miss exits, red lights etc. Last time, coming up to Schaumberg, I got in the wrong lane for a toll. I drove across 4 lanes of traffic and then ran up to the booth. I think the lady in the booth thought I was nuts.....
Guy.... the devil tree I was speaking of was certainly the angel tree you described and not a reference to the true trees you named. I know EQ loves the Albizia like she likes having a hole in her head.
Eq.... Aside from the flowers on an Albizia, (which just showed up and look stunning) the metasequoia is a perfect replacement. It may not fix nitrogen into the soil to feed my shade plants, but I imagine it is less prone to killing people with it's fungal problems, and it looks really good to boot.
You give me too much credit, I had no idea what tree it was, and I did my share of asking, but our group was flying through the Japanese garden too quickly and everyone was too far away.
Did you go back to the gardens again after the roundup?
No, I didn't want to go back by myself and everyone was looking at lond grives to get home so I just left too. I really wanted to get back to that tree area. I think you and me were the only ones more interested in the trees than the other plants.
