I do very much because much affordable than real one much fun to wear it and I love to make bracklets myself and make for my family and closer friends, I enjoyed that.
I am going to shopping to looking for sterling silver earrings today. =>)
Anyone like to wear Sterling Silver Jewerly?
Sterling jewelry is real jewelry. Sure it's not gold but gold would not look good with turquoise would it ?
Yes right real but not cost much > as gold or white gold or platiumn (sp) cost so much expensive and yeah you're right doesn't look good with gold with turquoise, I agree with you much better with silver one.
Clear fingernail polish! "Paint" the inside of the bracelet or ring. It will wear off occasionally and you'll have to reapply it.
I will have to ask my friend Kerry, who is a jeweler about the "turning your skin black" thing. I think I recall her mentioning something about that before and that there is a way around it. She wears all kinds of jewelry and I have never noticed black on her neck, fingers, ears, etc..... She has mentioned this before, I just can't remember what she said. I will try to remember to ask her about it next time I see her.
The bit at the bottom of this link explains the skin blackening that happens to some people http://www.utahstuff.com/index.pmg/page-builder/pageid-43
Good link Baa--kind of makes you wonder about all this stuff we sometimes put on our skin!

I had such a hard time as a kid understanding people saying, "REAL jewelry." I grew up wearing all kinds of trinkets as a kid...always proud to show off my "gems" and people would often ask, "But is it REAL...let me see it." ??? LOL. Always thought it so weird...you can SEE IT can't you? Hehe. I like sterling silver but along with all my costume jewelry and not the "real" stuff it tarnishes so quickly I only keep my pieces now about 1-2 years before tossing. I have tried so many things to get it clean and haven't found anything that works. Even started a thread on that issue.
Thanks, Baa for the informative link. I never thought that using your hands to apply cosmetics gives the metal in the rings additional chemicals to react with. Hm.
Tir_na_nog - Three M sells strips of paper treated with an anti-tarnish compound that you can put with your sterling flatware or sterling jewelery. If you seal the items in Ziploc bags they will go a long time without tarnishing. The silver must be clean to begin with, though. This would work with items you can't bear to throw away!
Enjoy your jewelery making. It must be fun.
Sorry did not get back to check here my post so, when sterling silver turn kinda yellow or no shine that I always use " Tarn-X" tarnish remover it really work so well it never had turn black skin on me at all if without use it might me turn me black skin sp Tarn-X good for use Sterling Silver, Silver Palte, Platium, Copper and Gold instantly tarnish is gone. Also I bought especially soft rag at Jewelry store to polish it make black off those sterling silver and it really work too.

Oh that Tarnx stuff is AWESOME! I use it to clean my silver platter but had no idea it'd work with sterling silver. Thanks for the tip!
You're welcome!
I love sterling silver....it's really my favorite....especially with Marcasite.
A few years back, I purchased a cloth that was treated with a cleaner specifically made for sterling silver....can't remember the name of it, but it came from Avon.....I'd bet that some vendor 'somewhere' carries the same thing?
I work with silver and gold as I often create my own mounts for stones I've cut.
I used to plate sterling with rhodium. It is close enough in color and rhodium does not tarnish or react with skin. But there is a new sterling silver out that is firescale resistant and it does not have as severe a problem with tarnishing and turning skin back. Maybe a little more than you wanted to know but Argentium Sterling Silver will do what you want if you find someone who works with it.
You can get the cloth at several places including Ebay and Walmart as well as jewelry supply catalogs. I used to buy and resell ss and gold jewelry to supplement my income and always recommended using a silver polishing cloth.
Jan...
I've found that wearing my sterling jewelry keeps it fairly nice, but then, I like the tarnish since a lot of what I have is southwestern Native American. Now when I ask it that is real, I'm asking if it was really Indian made, or imported from the Philipines and is a rip off of Indian design. If it's really cheap, it's probably imported.
