Ok,
I don't normally post my picture but I'll use it as an excuse to show off my "baby" who just graduated high school a couple weeks ago.
Don't know where he gets his sense of humor. LOL
Photo Thread III
My goodness Mealanie....what do you feed those boys in NC?
This is another great thread! I love putting a face with all the names.
meag848 & budgielover
Great looking sons you two have and it's so obvious they love their Mamas. Great to know what you look like the next time I read one of your postings.
Judy
Thanks for the pictures everyone nice to know what people look like.

Brinda
God love him!! He is 6'4" wears a 14 shoe!! And loves to eat, and I love to feed him when he is home!!
I love this thread, I can put faces to names. And everyone looks great!
Gee Meag.
I get a kink already and he's only 6'2" (and still growing). I can imagine your sore neck.LOL
Ok, OK, I just can't help being proud mom!! Jeff has had several sets of stitches because he doesn't duck going through the hatches (he is in the Navy). So funny to watch him when he is home, ducking ceiling fans and doorways, when he really doesn't have to!
But here is my baby!! The last one of five!
LOL. I know mine has hit the ceiling fan on more than one occasion.
Oop's....Her name is Jessica.
Nice pictures, She must be quite tall too from the picture,
X, you have the most beautiful hair!
EFGeorgia1
Thanks for the kind words.
Judy
Judy.. I tried mapquest for Pocahontas Tn .. and they showed me two of them... I guesss you are the one above Boonville MS as you were going to Tupelo... with your stuff... got a question.. what is Tupelo MS RU.. Sorry to hear of your Dad...
Thanks for showing the photos... but you'd have thought there would be at least one brug baby in there with one of you... OK I know they aren't as much fun as the real babies. .. but still ...
Gordon
Gordon,
You guessed the right Pocahontas, TN, actually there is only one Pocahontas, TN the other one is bad input into a software program. I feel like I live in Mississippi instead of Tennessee because we live out in the country about 1/4 mile from the TN/MS Stateline and we do all our business in Mississippi.
A group of us here at DG wanted to get together so we had the first ever Dave's Garden RoundUp in Tupleo, MS. It was typical Southern style; laidback and fun. We're planning another one in the Fall and you're welcome to come.
A gentleman by the name of Jesse White Crow, who is walking America, spent the day with us. I was the first to arrive and wanting to secure a group of tables for us, I walked up to him, intorduced myself and asked if a group of 20 or so "female plant nuts" would bother him. His response was "no" and he was also polite enough to ask if he would bother us. Told told him "He was even welcome to join us." Of course I had already told the Natchez Trace Parkway Ranger my plan, so I had my backside covered just in case the "backpacker" wasn't a person we wanted to be around. lol lol

Callhoun City.. [ A bronze marker in the town square for my gggrandfather .. and founder ] Ackerman,MS where we recently discovered and reclaimed an old family / church cemetary there .. and have a bronze historical marker on the highway now..and other towns..
A Delta Boy myself.. by birth .. I get over that way some.. driving from a house I built mother in Ardmore... TN/AL.. along the Trace to MS 8..to go west..
I'll be making the drive in a few weeks... sometime after the 4 th of July.. driving down to the plumeria gala in Galveston Is TX.. I like to keep track of the growers there in MS/TN so it perked my interest to hear of it ..
Thanks for the invite though.. I'd have loved to make a brug trade day there ...
Gordon

http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/570079/
should be alot of fun.. and the garden tours of the area growers... I'm packing already
Gordon
Hi Gordon, Do you come through Nashville? We live just a few miles from the start of the Trace. Sure is a beautiful drive to Miss.
Betty
Hi Betty...
yes... sometimes I do drive through Nashville.. hit I-65 and get down to mothers that way.. she's about a mile or so off 65 about a mile into AL..
I saw your first bloomers posted for the year... So good to see them starting out again.. I know... I'm getting about 6-8 now.. of the dozens I had alive under the HID lights through the winter ... this means that I'll be having piles of them soon as they get re established and get their outside leaves... sprouting all the way up the stems.. the ones earmarked as standards... have these removed after they supply some kickstart to the poor overwintered plant..
Yes.. I do enjoy the Trace drive.... it's got to be one of the nicest in America.. supose someone planted Brugs all along the roadway... mmmmm I was wondering what to do with my extra rooted cuttings... groilla planting.. wish they could overwinter outside there...
Gordon
Gordon,
I have been assured that "some" brugs can live through the winter here. I planted an "unknown" pink in the flower bed under an oak tree and it came back this spring. Judging for the size it will probably be August before it blooms. Some of the ones that we moved inside the covered dog run are blooming now. So the question is do I want to wait for blooms or not, next year.
Judy
I left a few out over winter, Planted deep and mulched. Didn't make it. Maybe I need to go back and look again. LOL
Gordon, I live 17 miles N of Ackerman just off the trace, Montavista is about 10 miles NW of me and Calhoon City is 25 miles NW of me. I'm sure you have been thru Mathiston on the trace.
When you head this way lmk and maybe come by and see us.
Judy I had my first bloom 2 nights ago on a brug that made it in the ground and have buds on several more.
Ruth
Ruth, That is wonderful, sure does encourage me!! I believe the reason this one isn't further along is because it's in too much shade. I may have to thin out some tree limbs because I'm having a problem with too much shade in that area.
Gordon, let me know when you are passing through. If I have anything you want a cutting of you are welcome to it. Most all of mine are the ones which have been around for forever.
picabo, I didn't plant mine deep, nor did I mulch, BUT the oak leaves covered up the stubble that was left after I cut off the branches. Ruth's husband told me to cut them off, cover with straw or leaves, then just lay something on top to ensure they stayed covered. We have high winds here at the house, but that actually assisted with blowing the leaves onto the brug.

Thanks Judy. I will try that next year. Usually I have some Brugs planted in the ground. This year I just sunk the pots in the ground or in some mulch. I still Haven't been out to check to see if the brugs that I left out made it. I know they weren’t coming up a week ago. I have so many things that do winter over that shouldn't I wish some of the brugs would.
Gordon, My grandmother was one of those gorilla planters. They traveled the country in the 50's. She always took some seeds and bulbs to plant and she brought back some treasures that she found during her travels.
I have lots of her souvenirs in my yard.
Betty
Ruth ... Yes... I'll LYK when I'm going through there ... I know Mathiston... I spend some time on LaGrange Road there... I'm sure you know it... I've a couple of folks buried there ... My ggrandmother ... is buried in LaGrange Cemetery there... and some over a little off there on Bluff Springs... which is about the continuation of Lagrange off to the west some.. I'm often dropping by there... to watch over them.. and spread a flower or two for them and other visitors.. Thanks for the invite..
Judy.... well ... I'm sure I don't have everything that has been around forever .. and would love to trade... I'll bring some things with me for all Ya'll.. I like to bring mother some new things... but I think she is getting a bit filled up to here with them all by now.. the greenhouse I built on the front of the house there .. is narrow .. and only 40' long.. HA HA HA and hte 500 gal temperature storage/fish tank takes up alot of room... .. the last time I was by there about Christmas.. .. it had been turned into a large planter .. for winter storage of my tenders.. I love touriong about visiting other gardens... I never see enough brugs and plumerias .. and what a joy to have a place for things..
Thanks...All... Gordon
Betty... MY.. your Grandmother .. .sounds like one for me... I love the idea of planting out.. I've a few takeover projects here ... I'd love to include you in part of my southern tour and see some of the things she captured and brought back alive for you..... that Logees white is lovely.. I took a trip up to Logees Greenhouse over Memorial Day.. you'd love it there... 15' lemon trees growing and perfumeing the whole place.. along with mqny 100's of their catalog items.. and the mother plants the cuttings come from... many blooming away... Gordon
the picture is of Soaring Spirits.. a 9-11 comerative rose.. shown pictured in front of the part of lower manhattan which I would seee the towers sitting..
Gordon, Would love for you to stop by. I'm sure some of Grandmothers plants would love to go for a ride. LOL
I would love to see the Logees Greenhouses. We have a real fun greenhouse in Nashville. They have huge lemon, lime and orange trees growing to the roof of the GH. Herbs all over the floor, just looks like the greenhouse is in charge. No what I mean??? LOL They aren't open very much, I usually just drive up and walk through if they aren't there. (I haven't been there in a couple of years, I hope it is still the same. LOL) The owners are very interesting people to visit with.
I finally figured out how to get a pic from my cell phone to the computer. I do all the picture taking, so I usually don't have any of me. This is my self portrait in the bathroom mirror, lol. I'm in Texas at the moment for my son's baseball tournament.
I flew in, the boys are coming by bus tonight. I get to the hotel and they have my reservation, but booted the team due to overbooking. The 2 teams (35 boys and coaches) are on their way and they call and notify them while in route. Could not believe it. The boys found a hotel about 1/2 hour away, so I canceled and am staying at their hotel. I was steaming, but I have a suite at this new hotel, very nice.
Tournament starts tomorrow, hoping all the college scouts will be out. We play at University of Texas for the next 2 days and then TCI.
oh, and no laughing at the pic-haha
What kind of baseball tournament is your son involved in. Traveling team or school?
Crystal and Bama.. Great to "see" you!!
Crystal I hope the tournament finishes up without any more frustrations!
Bama.. got you on the hair thing..I am blonde and people tell me they like my "Highlights" hah..
LOL, what a happy face!
Georgiaredclay - My son plays for the Rawlings Prospects baseball taveling team. Jerry Daniels, used to be a Cardinal, put the team together. He owns BallnStrikes - a place for baseball lessons.
The team travels around to the different major colleges and the college scouts come out and take a look at them. They line up tournaments with other "premiere teams". These boys are all hoping to play ball and get a scholorship to school.
Would you believe that their bus broke down, just outside Texas, for 3 hours last night. They got in at 2pm. Then on the way to the game, they got lost for an hour. LOL. Things happen in 3's - that's 3 - so no more of this. Ya, gotta laugh at it. LOL.
Crystal
Here's hoping!!!
carrjohn - my but you look 'devilish', gonna eat the whole thing by myself, kinda attitude. lol lol Great picture!!!
crystalnurse & BamaBelle - great pictures and so good to "see" you.
