Here in Arkansas, this color is refered to as "Pank". The "mantel" on the wall is an old bed headboard I snagged from someone's trash...and a bunch of old picture frames I painted other wild colors and I hung $store ornaments in, as art. Wished the chairs had of been in veiw. Legs of each are different colors(purple, yellow and seafoam green) w/ lime green seat cushions and backs painted and stenciled in country prim.
The "Pank"wall!
Hey Y'All, now I thank that there wall is rite purdy painted Pank!!!! ( Accent!!!! Whut Accent!)
Pank, LOL...I didn't get it the first time. Now I do.
Too cute!
Eufaula,
Axsent? Dohn' here no axsent!*G*
wuvie,
Aw com'on now! Surely someone from OK would understand what Arkansas Pank is...LOL
P
Red, perhaps if I were born here, but I'm originally from New York.
LOL
I still have issues with pin, pen and pan.
They all sound the same around here.
Pee-yun.
Pee-yun and Pay-yun.
bigred - I *love* the colors, and the headboard shelf is just perfect. BUT, I have to confess - as the picture was down loading (dialup here) I saw, what for all the world, looked like the top of a frog head with the big google eyes staring at me! LOL I promise you, once the whole picture loaded, it was a beautiful sight, but it took a bit to get the google frog eyes out of my head.
Seriously, I love your color choices. They just sing spring and good times! Keep up the colorful work! There ain't nothin' like "pank" to cheer the heart and soul. ('cept maybe a "tar"planter or two along the drive)
ginni
tgif... I saw the frog head too!!! I will never look at the picture the same again.
Am I too far north to understand "pank"?
wuvie,
well, that would explain why you didn't understand "pank". But now I'm saying pin,pen and pan to myself, trying to hear what your hearing. Of course since I'm not saying it in a natural way,I'm probably not saying it like I normally would and don't hear the"yun".
tgif,
had to go back on look at pic to see the frog...LOL...your right and that angel wing begonia on the shelf to the right looks like eyelashes.
I decorated that wall last christmas with a huge wreath but darned if I know how I'll decorate that "pank" this christmas. I do have some beaded fruit ornaments in jewel tones.....hmmmm?
defocat,
think Tommy Lee Jones in "Man of the House" and his "happy face"....hope you saw that movie or you won't get it.
P
Hey Y'All, now wait a minute here! dit'n y'all know that if yall come from the south there arent any One syllable words!!!
ROTFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Eufala,
Oh my, isn't that the truth?
They even add letters where they were not before:
Warshing machine
Hubby amuses me with his use of certain phrases.
For example, when someone is constipated, he refers to
it as "Stove up". Stove up???
Stove up? Where in the world does he get that from?
Got it!! Filling up the wood stove. It is an old fashioned saying. I was thinking a cooking stove. Now I get it.
OK now y'all asked for it.
"My my my, jes lookathere at them cullars! Ah swear that there pank wall is purdier'n a speckled pup. Why it's even purdier'n a red heiffer in a flower bed! An whoooeee...that there ideer of stickin that bedstead up thar is jest plain slicker'n deer guts on a doorknob!"
Actually you need to say "bayadstayad" instead of bedstead, and "rayad" instead of red, but I didn't think it would be understandable to folks who don't speak this language.
My sincere apologies to anti-hunters. My husband is from Alabama and we lived in Texas for over 20 years, so we are fluent!
Now you have answered a question about where my new neighbors are from! They have a PANK dresser the want to repaint to a lighter Pank shade...
When I say I'm "all stove up" I mean I can't move...because I over did exercising or something like that. ...or when I've sat too long the wrong way and can't move fast.
My favorite saying is from my Mom" Happier than a dead pig in sunshine"although I don't know why a pig would be happy dead in sun or shade nor anyone around it being happy it's dead laying up in the sun for any length of time.
oldmudhouse...*Snicker*

Accents? Whatcha talking about? I can read ya'll jsut fine and could probably understand ya'll just fine in person too!! And i'm not southern... by ya'll's standards anyways. Not yankee and not southern. Oh well. LOL
Pank is definitely purdier than yaller. Had a friend whose child got a bad grade for spelling "yaller" literally when the teacher pronounced it that way. This thread is so funny I almost "drapped ma teeth on the flow laughing!"
Thanks BigRaid!
Ok I must be a major redneck cause I understood it all and I'm with Mag I wanna know what the basket of goodies was for?
We should rename this thread the Redneck thread!! And what about a Redneck Forum? LOL And I wanna know about the goodies too!!
The basket was put together by my garden club. Merchandise was donated by club and local businesses. We collected donation on chances to win. Basket had tons and tons of gardening goodies and was valued over $200.00. Proceeds to be used for garden clubs city beautification projects.
P
Cool! Hope it was enjoyed.
Hi y'all! Just found this thread, and after 13 years of living in the US I can finally say I understood half of what y'all wrote! The very first time I met a gentleman from the south, I caught "Bob", "Texas" and "Howdy". Before I moved to the US from Europe (Norway) I really thought I had a good grasp of the English language, guess again! Keep up the "redneck" thread, it is hilarious! And I want to add that Pank is mighty purdy! (yaller?? OMG)!!! ROTFL
Heck I understood every word! Pank is reel purdy! I shore have enjoyed this thraid. lol
Lin
Keep it up, keep it up!! Keep on rolling, keep on rolling!! LOL. I'm having a grand ol' time reading all this.
Oh my gosh I'm glad I found this thread. I'm about to scream I'm laughing so hard! I'm originally from AR (Deer) and miss them thar hills tremendously. Sometimes I revert & get caught saying things about my purty yaller flares, needing to arn my clothes & making sure the tars aren't flat on my bike!
Now Y'all, Be Good! Y'all know we'uns are the mos' sof' hahted people in the whorul!!!
I heard the other day that we can turn even the mos' awful comment into a sweet thought!
like: "Did you know that there Son of a Biscuit, that moved in over Yonder ,near that there Yaller Bellied SapSucker? Bless his Heart!"
ROFL
With ya there Cambium!!!
LOL!! Gudness Greyshus, ya'll aint fruhm Chi caugh geeY aar ya!! LOL!
Ya'll know what the gangs upa yar and the gangs in them thar hills have in c'mon?
