Blue Picotee - Getting Back To Normal?

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

I have about 5 more buds to go to where I get to the point where buds were not sprayed with Messenger. It is clear that the deformations occur in varying degrees according to the maturity of the bud when it was sprayed. On the other hand, since Messenger is systemic, it may have somewhat of an affect on buds not even formed yet but probably with much less deformity. In the picture, you can see the bottom petals are beginning to connect again. The top two petals are still separated.

I am still not 100% sure that Messenger was the cause since the Min-Bar was sprayed as well and has perfectly normal flowers. Again, if the Blue Picotee does indeed get back to normal, I will try and see if I can duplicate the deformity.

Thanks Fish, do you know if it is possible to reproduce morning glory's using a tissue culture method?

Things are getting back to normal except for the color. In comparison to my archetype on the left, the petal separation is still a bit less than normal. The color is a mystery. It is totally different than the archetype and quite a change from each new flower to the next. I am anxious to see how the next few flowers will be color wise.

If things continue to normalize shape wise despite the color, I am going to try attempt to hand pollinate the next few flower and see if I can get some seeds. I will give it 3 weeks. After that, I will spray it with Messenger again to see if I can duplicate the deformity. I'm still not 100% sure it was Messenger. 95% yes but not 100%.

I really really like the shape in the second pic.and the colour seams to darken for every flower you have got since you sprayed it the first time. I dont like to use "unnatural manmade" things on plants at all.............But that one has become a beauty.

The color pigments are very enzyme dependant, and the varioue enzymes can have very 'finicky' lifespan cycles...the prescence or abscence of enzymes can fluctuate within minutes and can exist in varying proportions at the same moment in different parts of the same plant...some enzyme dependany pigments are more stable than others...the enzymes are affected by a wide range of factors...

And the petals split again! This is this mornings morning glory. Same color as yesterday.
