Housewarming Gift Suggestions?

Timnath, CO(Zone 5b)

What is the best housewarming gift someone has given you? I am going to a Memorial Day/Housewarming on Sunday and I would like to bring something.

Suggest away! :)

TIA!

This is terrible for me to say, but I would love a big Goldenbarrel Cactus..lol.. If they are plant lovers, you just have to find out what plants they are crazy about. Then, get the one they don't have. They may need them for their landscape, you never know.. Do a drive by and see what they could use..

I've never had a housewarming so can't tell you which was the best.

Meig,

1. Gift certificate to home improvement store (new homeowners usually want to paint something).

2. A small flag with house flagpole (we've received this).

3. A bucket of your favorite cleaning products.

4. A gift of produce from your garden (if you have one).

Thanks to everyone that replied. I actually picked up a gorgeous coreopsis for her and she loved it.

Those are great suggestions, though! I will keep them in mind for the next time.

My husband always buys fire extinguishers as wedding presents! For housewarmings, he takes a giant size can of chocolate pudding (5 pounds!) but I don't know why he chose these as the perfect gifts.

Interesting question because I may be a recipent soon as I'm moving to a new place and many DG'ers want to send something. So how do I state what I want and/or need? Plants of course, but WHAT plants? What will fit in for my new zone? What do I even know about my new zone? What gets shade, what gets sun?

Fire extinguishers sound good, LOL, just don't send me 20!

Food for comfort,
A tree or perennial for longevity,
and a bag of manure

Since I am The Bag Lady...(grocery bag dispensers made from scrap fabric).....I usually add a bag dispenser, a dishtowel and matching hanging towel (to hang on the cabinet door at the sink.) , a "scrubbie" crocheted from cheap netting for scrubbing dishes....and most wedding gifts I add some of my favorite recipes...or ones that I've printed off DG.
