Here we are, it's early yet. Just rest easy and take your time. It's Saturday, no need to rush out of bed. We'll be here waiting for you.

I'm on frist....BBL must make coffee..................Lauri

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Coffee is made, on first cup and dishes are almost done. Woke up to fog this morning. Hoping it burns off pretty quickly as I have lumber to paint and dry fast.

Jeremy is antsy to get starting on putting the posts in the ground. Can't do it til the paint is dry.

We went shopping at the wholesaler yesterday for some landscaping plants. We got only 17 Leylandii Cypress, but they look great. I have 2 more I bought earlier this year that we can fill the gap with. We also got Confederate Jasmine both kinds, Carolina Jessamine and Coral Honeysuckle. I couldn't help myself I got a pot of Clerodendrun Ugandese(sic) and 4 Leonitis Leonorus.

I hope to take some cuttings and grow some of these vines and plants for resale. Coming home in the van, the fragrance was wonderful.

But it's going to be HOT today. They are predicting 95 as high for the next 3 days.

BRB, need more coffee.

Morning!! Got up at 2 something am and posted a nice long chatty message and it went poof- so in a snit, I went back to bed!!

Sun is out here and I've already had a nice long garden walk -have DGS soccer game at nine, then I can come home and get in the garden. Things are looking nice and lush here.

Maria- do you have a secret admirer??? Keep the cement piece! It's precious...Love how Samson is checking it out...I have several smaller pieces, bunnies - birds etc. and a very large and beautiful bird bath - made with cement and pebbles. It is beautiful. I could get dozens more...

M5- hide the car keys for sure. Dh can drive his own gas hog. I was at a friends house yesterday and he told me to tell DH that I needed a new muffler - I've been telling him that forever, but since his hearing is kaput, he doesn't hear it nor believe me. Maybe NOW I will get a new muffler...not holding my breath tho!!

Did everyone see all the hens and chicks she got?? Oh, I need some of those...she got a haul. I have some I snagged from my mom's house, but they are just the run of the mill kind of chick. I've been drooling over them for some time. I'd like to make some hypertufa planters to put them in first -never ending what I plan/want to do!!

Solataire- I married your DH brother!! My DH thinks going out to eat is cruising thru a fast food place AND eating in the car.

DH pulled the trailer up to the house- he thinks I need to clean it - humppph - he can get his fanny out there and lend me a hand!! Especially since he decided to empty out he cupboards and put stuff all over the beds and counters. He said he was afraid mice would get in the cupboards- guess he thought they couldn't find stuff on the counters!! Must be male mice.. LOL

Time for an egg for breakfast...no cookies in the house!!

Hello All!

Have enjoyed reading everyone's posts!

Well...ended up back at the oral surgeon's on thursday afternoon. I had been calling the office because I just 'felt' that things were not healing properly and I was still gulping down the pain meds. I was told that these things take time. BULL! I have been going through 5 yrs of mouth restoration and have a good sense of what my body is telling me. Apparently the antibiotics that were prescribed after the intial surgery last thursday were not sufficient to attack the new infection that has started! Long painful story short, they had to go back in and scrape the infected tissure surrounding my jawfone and stitch me back up. New prescription of antibiotics, etc. UGH!

Hope this clears up right quick! DH and I are headed up to Chicago next thursday for DFIL's 90'th birthday celelbration. DH has a huge family (7 sisters!) so when we all get together there's about 48 of us! This family loves to eat so the whole weekend is focused around food. Lots of activities planned to keep us busy. The 'big' party is on saturday night at my SIL's. They bought an old church about 20 years ago and converted it into their home. It's been featured in quite a few magazines and on a few HGTV shows. It is fabulous. I am in charge of decorations. We're doing a golf theme. Going pretty simple since the church is so big. Focusing on table and buffet decorations. I have got to get going on what I can make ahead of time.

Since DH is still trying to suck up to me (looks like the last of the brugs are on their way to being dead) he gets to help me with this project.

Been on the cool side over the last few weeks here with lots of nice rain. I do think though that we're headed into 'hotlanta' weather. Just as long as it does not get too humid to fast, I can keep up with with spraying things for fungas. Believe me....all pump sprayers are clearly marked now!

Excuse me if I have messed up anything in my post. Still can blame it on drug induced CRS!

Wonderful weekend to everyone!

Good morning all,

Molly, sure wish you'd share some of that sun and warmth with those of us in the dreary northeast. Looks like more rain today and cooler than average temps.

Carole - I'm sure glad you went back to the oral surgeon and didn't take their answers to you as the final word. I'm really sorry about what you've gone through, but it p[roves that it pays to listen to what one's body is saying. I hope your healing goes by the book from now on and that you have a good time next weekend.

waving to everyone else. ~~~~~~

Up and at 'em, well, except for me. I've been puttering around and thought I'd better check in and see what the early risers have been up to. Went out for a casual dinner with people Dh works with, at a Tex-Mex type restaurant. I ordered the steak salad which was supposed to be Angus Beef...but I think that bovine died of old age, it was so tough I left most of it and ate the salad part. Unripe tomatos and lettuce. If it had been just the two of us I would have sent it back but since the co. was picking up the tab, I didn't want to be cranky. I had commented to DH when we went in that it wasn't as crowded as usual, and I guess the food explains that.

Off to State Fair Park this morning to the Master Gardener sale, to see what else I can add to the mix. Hope they don't charge for parking, that really gets my cork. The event has to pay for the use of the building, then they get more money from the people who attend. If I'm lucky, I can find a spot on the street for a couple hours.

Then, I'm off to look at kittens again. There were several ads in this weekend's paper, so I need to make a few phone calls and see what they have.

DH and BIL haven't left yet, at this rate it will be midnight before he drags himself in, which means he'll sleep in tomorrow morning, through our usual breakfast outing. Wonder if I should pick up eggs today..........nahhhh....

Better head for the garden and see if I can pull up some more weeds before I hit the road. Wish everything grew like that stuff!!

~~~~ good morning, to all.
Later
Have been up since 7:00, but read the whole paper, and drank tons of coffee. Just now feeling awake enough to check in.
It is sunny but cool here this morning. I am headed out to do a few errands, and the road into town has yards sales, so will see what treasures I can rescue.
I will check in after I get home, and hope I can tell you about the "find of a lifetime".
Morning everyone
Well sis is gone and I wanted to try and catch up a bit before I got started on my day. Everything turned out nice. Had the sandwich stuff and caved in and fixed hot wings and Chinese chicken wings with baby carrots and celery sticks.
Carole was sorry to read about your further oral troubles. Sure hope everything clears up in a jiffy so you'll be set for your trip.
Maria fell in love with your garden and your welcome dog. Got hubby in here to describe it. Soooo you've been holding out on us, have ya? An admirer huh? Well, you don't have to marry him ... just enjoy his company! :)
Defoe, have fun at your yard sales. That sounds like lots of fun.
sarv, couldn't help but think of you last night when I was eating my ice cream. :) I'll never be able to eat it again without remembering you!
Well, the clock just chimed 10, so I'll wave to everyone else and get up for now. Hope you have a wonderful day full of fun things!
I might hit a few of those today too, I did stop at one yesterday...oh, I am such a liar, I stopped at five or six...but only found a good item at one. Was marked $5, I offered $3 and got it. Whaddya think? Looks brand new.
Why am I sitting here, I need food!
Well, I'm back for just a min. Just *had* to come show y'all a picture of my moon flower. Do you remember what this tiny thing looked like when I posted it to be IDed a while back? I did *this* from seed! I can not believe it!!!
Elaine, just wait until the moonflower blooms and you catch the fragrance! One of my favorite summer flowers.
*tapping fingers* LOL
Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)
Well, back from the errand run. Stopped a a few yard sales, and honestly I have better junk that what I looked at. So not a story to tell of my "find of the century".
The only thing I bought was 3 graduation cards, 3 gift cards from Walmart, and a tray of annuals to go in a tiny new bed by my front porch.
M5, That is so pretty. Where will you use it? So let us know if you find that perfect fur kid, and I need pics too. Laughed about your steak salad, I think that is where the use the left over peices!!
101, glad things went well with your sis. So you did throw together a little something extra, that's okay, but I hope she shows more consideration next time. Did you get my d-mail last night?
FC, sorry to hear of you terrible ordeal with the surgery site, etc. It seems like I have been working on my mouth all my life. Right now I have braces on one side, to straighten a crooked tooth, so it can be used as an anchor, for an adjacent one, which will be capped. That adjacent one is one whole story in itself. So know what you are going through.
Don't know now who talked about a night out. A night out at a burger joint, huhuh, don't think so, a night out to me is a decent restaurant, where they have waitresses to bring your food to the table!!
Sarv, don't you just love a man's logic? If they could get to things in the cabinets, he just made it easier for the vermin by setting it out on the counter. Bet they thought they were at a drive through! Tell, DH that he will be using the camper, too, so get his sorry b--- in there to help.
Well, I am gonna rummage in the freezer to see what I can thaw for tomorrow's dinner. Then out to put those plants in the ground, don't know about what come later, but I will be back.
Defoe ... no I didn't receive any mail from you. I just went and checked to be sure. Nope ... no mail! :-(
Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)
Had to quit shingling last evening due to rain. Things were starting to wilt a little so it is welcome, should stop in a day or two, so they say. Too wet out to work in the garden but just right for tossing those remaining poppy seeds in a few barren places. Some of the Salvias are coming up in the flats, one Clematis had popped up, Turbina corumbosa has a couple good looking starts and 3 or 4 other little greenies are starting to appear. (out of 5 flats and 3 half-flats that aint too encouraging) 7 short rows of Zinnia Benarys Giant are looking good in front where I removed the Weeping Crabapple. I love this time of year. Wish the local strawberries were ready. Marysville used to be noted for all the wonderful strawberry fields, now all we have are cheek to cheek shabby housing developments.(thanks to the States terrible Property Tax laws.) A favorite Springtime morning is sitting under the Wisteria's fragrant blossems at sunrise with a big bowl of raspberries and/or strawberries and cream, and maybe a cup of coffee or tea. That day is soon to be here and I'm ready for it. Picked up the Clematis henrii yesterday and should get it in the ground this weekend. At only 8 feet it isn't tall enough to cover the blue arbor like I had hoped, but the Wisteria will do that in time. Methinks the shingle arbor side opening would be a cool place to fill with stained glass. Enough of this, gotta take a shower, eat something, take a batch of pills and make a batch of rhubarb sauce.
Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)
Well, in for a short break. Got all of the annuals I bought in the ground. Went with red/white theme. Very pretty. I had put some geraniums in 1/2 barrels by the garage, with some vinca to vine, the vinca completely covered the geraniums, so dug them up and put in another container. Gotta go this afternoon to DM's and sort of neaten up what I didn't have time to do last night. She was so tickled this morning to see them. She was in bed when I planted them last night. Contemplating putting the finish on either the deck or front porch, since the weather is good, sun is shining, and it is warm.
Bal, sounds like you have had a pretty full couple of days. I love your description of sitting outside with a bowl of berries, my strawberries are ripe now, so I could send you some. That clematis, in time will probably be much taller.
101 sending you d-mail now. Didn't comment, but your moon plant, and your tomatoes look so good. I think you must be a good plant mommy!
Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)
I am in for a short break too. It's 86 already and just after noon.
We have 3 coats of paint on the posts and beams. Have to do the rest of the wood too. Easier to paint on the saw horse than installed.
Just stopped in for a quick hello, see ya in a bit.
In for a cracker and cheese break. I've worked my fool head off today. I've got the greenhouse about 1/2 empty- have a ton of dahlias in there - they will go in the ground next week I hope! Stuck out a ton of annuals - I'm hoping the frost doesn't hit here- we are pretty high.
Kids have all been over and DH has been helping them. DIL asked me to come to their house and help her move plants - told her NO (I can't believe I did that!!) I have so much work here to get done before we leave on Monday. I did tell here I would help tomorrow, but the weather report is for rain and cold - so it's maybe a no go then too
FC - ouch on the tooth situation...My workout friend went to the doc as she had some crusty stuff under her eyes. The doc looked at it and asked her what SHE thought it was!! LOL- and he had the nerve to send her a bill!!
Molly - sounds like you are making headway!! 86 is too hot for me!!
Bal - I've been weeding my strawberries here, but I dont think I will get much of a crop. I let the weeds take over..I would like a raised bed - bending over in all sorts of contortions gives me pains all over! But there is nothing like walking outside and picking a few berries fresh from the patch! I've never had cream on berries tho. I've been eyeballing Henryi for a couple of years too. I need two more to replace the ones DH ripped out when he took down a tree.
IO1 - hooray on the moonflower. I have two started, but they are just sitting there doing nothing. Today I noticed they were covered with aphids. Maybe toast before I can set them out. I did plant out three hyacinth bean plants - they were big robust plants, but after a few days of cold and pounding rain, they look pitiful and will probably not make it. I'm gonna start a few more tomorrow..
M5- DIL stopped over and got a webber grill for ten bucks at a garage sale. It was in mint condition!! DS was happy with it!
Well, time to get my hinny back outside - DH/DS have some beer hidden in the barn - need to find their stash and snitch one.
DM is bringing out rhubarb pie later on!! yum
Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)
Just popping in to say hello, have been planting since 11 AM before that I did go to the market and Nirsery to get some more of these low growing plants for around the slabs have put in 72 already, also planted some cosmos and zinnias, more to go but it is raining of and on then sun comes out it is more like april weather, but at least it is cool for gardening work.
Of course have not got around to use the vacum , daughter and husband are going to drop by bringin Pizza.
till later
Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)
I have been out and busy too. Went to DM's and did some clean up from last night, watered all the plants, picked 6 heads of broccoli, and some onions from the garden, then just sat and visited with her for awhile. I have peas that will be ready probably late next week.
DH is helping his brother set out the tobacco, and has been gone all day.
Gonna go out to get a bite to eat when he gets in, and make a return to Lowes.
I'll check in when I get back.
south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)
Back for a few minutes before I hit the hay. I am exhausted. Planted, weeded etc all day long. Mom brought out chinese for us and a rhubarb pie.
I just took a shower and laughed - my neck is burned red and both arms 3/4 of the way up are red-the rest of me is white-white. Sure does look funny. Wouldn't win any beauty awards - that's for sure!!
Right now I'm in my lazyboy with the heating pad on my aching back. Wish someone would rub my feet- they are killing me!!
I'm sure I'll sleep good tonight!! snoozeeeeee
Starkville, MS
sarv - that's call a "farmers tan"! I get it this time every year, then when the lake warms up enough for swimming, I can get it evened out a little.
Hi y'all
Have been busy today playing in the dirt. Repotted a few things including my moon flower I just showed y'all. I found a beautiful green iron trellis in the shape of a big flower along with a larger pot. I managed to transplant it over with DH's help without breaking a single piece off. Boy is it ever pretty like that. Will try and post another picture in a couple of days.
Defoe, I started a new thread in the Dave's forum to ask for assistance with my Dmail. Maybe if there's a problem he'll let me know. :) By the way ... that broccoli sure sounds good. That's right up there next to asparagus in my book! Did you have a nice supper out?
Maria what about you? Did you have a nice night tonight? Don't worry about the vacuuming. It'll be waiting on you when you can't do your garden work!
Molly, sounds like you're beginning to make progress on your new project! Oh and those jasmins sound sooo pretty. I almost purchased one of the Carolina ones this year. :)
Meezers, so tell us about the kittens? Oh and what about the State Fair and the Master Gardener sale? How did you make out on that?
Well, think I'll go get comfy. I'll check back before I turn in.
Just in from eating out. Went to the Asian buffet, we enjoy it so much. It's a little Chinese, Mongolian, and maybe something else thrown in. Have a gazillion things on their buffet, plus sushi and cold crab salad, oysters, mussels, peel and eat shrimp. Stopped by DMIL's on the way home. She is still in a lot of pain. She is hurting in her back, and can't seem to get relief.
Well, DH is filleting some fish left from last night, it was too late then. So I am gonna catch up on some forums, and then try to get in bed early. I'll be back later.
DD#4 called this morning, asked if I wanted to go along with her to a garden walkaround & garden art sale. Of course. This lady lives out of town & has lots of unique flower beds. Her brother makes very imaginative garden art out of old farm implements.We both bought flying pig planters, DD also got a barbed wire wreath with metal sunflowers on it. Then found a cut off barrel with a bull cut out on the top for a planter & a caterpiller just for decor. DD had me put it under my new hostas I bought from the coop. I'm a lurker & enjoy all of your daily happenings.
Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)
grettagibbs, sounds like you made a good haul on your walkaround. I love unusual garden art, and will try my hand at hypertufa this year, after I get everything planted.
I am a member of the tired group too., my hands are hurting from lifting and digging, not to mention my knees, they were bent for hours, is it any wonder.?No.
I did not get a tan, Sarv, was all covered up too cool but if I am not I just tan without a burn, Even had two pieces of pizza now that is an unheard of occurance for me, I gues I was hungry for a change.
Elaine, no I do not have to get married to go out with some one but as things go one thing leads to another and I am avoiding it like poison, lol.
My friend, his name is Bill, whom I have know when I was first married at 18 and he was 6 years old, had a crush on me then, lol, his mother told me he wishes I was his teacher and not that old, fat lady who is , lol.
He was married and has a son in college. He calls me and stops by to bring me magazines aboout gardening and wild life, he knows what I like to read.. He has loads of money and lives in an elegant condo in the city. He is very nice but quite self-deprecating, he has said he knows he does not quite belong to the class of people I move about with, sheesh, that upsets me sometimes since I do not believe I belong into any special class.
I called to thank him for that wonderful present and it is by my front door. He said good now you have to think of me every time you walk by. lol
Guess I am off to bed, am so tired I am wide awake probably won't sleep till the wee hours.. Hope all of you will have a good night.
Hi everyone,
I didn't get a chance to do any gardening today since I was stuck in my store from around 9:30 AM 'til just after 7 PM. Kind of quiet in the store today, probably because the weather was decent for a change and everyone else was out doing yard work or just enjoying the day at home.
Sarv, I just love the male logic --how do you keep vermin out of the cupboards? --- feed them on the counters, of course. Something tells me your DH is going to take a while to live this one down. Hope your back feels better soon. You seem prone to the same mistake that I keep making these days --- go crazy trying to get everything done in one day and then wonder why your body doesn't rebound like it did when you were "twenty something".
I01, good luck with the moonflowers. They are fantastic. I may try to grow some again, but in my climate it's kind of a downer because just as they develop tons of buds the weather turns way too cold and they all die off. I had enough blooms to fall in love with them and then felt awful when all those buds froze. The vines grow like crazy. One of my brothers planted some a few years ago and they grew up two stories and over his roof. On another note, I think I know why you're not getting some of your D-mail. I noticed that others also address you as "101" instead of "I01". That was my mistake and I bet some of the mail intended for you has gone off to somebody who's username is "101" I was pretty embarrassed when I realized my mistake and wondered what that person must have thought on receiving the wrong mail.
I have the next couple of days off and hope to accomplish something in the garden and around the house. I also meant to take some pictures of the plants in my greenhouse, etc. and carefully set my camera on a stool behind the counter so that I would remember to bring it home. Not a winning strategy apparently, as it's still sitting there in my shop. Drat! Maybe DH will take a few pics for me with his camera. Poor guy is working the late, late shift again tonight. He's supposed to be done at 2 AM, but is often asked to work a little longer and just about always complies.
I have a big pot of chili bubbling away on the stove at the moment. Didn't use a recipe, just a bit of this and a bunch of that, but it sure smells good. Grab a bowl and try it out!
Robert, the garden breakfast of berries and cream taken out by the garden gateway sounded wonderful. Some of my alpine strawberries and the wild black raspberries should be ready in a week or two, followed by the blackberries. I generally skip the cream as I don't want to be mistaken for a beach ball. (I figure that I'm nearly there as it is.)
FC, so, so sorry about the oral surgery debacle! I can empathise. I inherited very thin enamel/"soft teeth" and was constantly at the dentist's when I was a kid. By the time I was in my twenties I got so sick of the whole thing that I had all my remaining teeth pulled out, despite the "advice" of the dentists. I've never regretted my decision. No matter what they did, that seemed to be the end result anyway, so why go through all the agony in between? That was my reasoning, anyway. Also sorry about your poor plants! I'd help you with replacements if I could, but I'm afraid that I live in the wrong climate and also have no time for things that need intensive care!
M5, how did the kitten search go? I'd so love to get another kitten, but we aren't in a position to take on any more vet bills (not to mention all the upset to the "pecking order" that the current feline inhabitants have established.)
Bonnie, where do you manage to get all your energy? I'd feel really virtuous if I managed to get 1/2 of what you accomplish done in a day! It's really nice that you put all those annuals in for your DM. The little garden out in front of the house is looking pretty good, I think, but it's a shady spot and most of what my mother really likes in the way of flowers needs full sun. I think she's finally getting resigned to the likes of Wood Hyacith, Johnson's Blue Geranium, hellebores, primroses, and bleeding hearts.
Molly, sure hope the plant propagation goes well for you! That's a kind of business that appeals to me too, except that I'm absolutely convinced that organic gardening is the way to go and an infestation of insects or plant diseases can so easily wreak havoc on your investment, that the idea of making a living that way scares me half to death!
I know that I'm missing people --- haven't addressed everyone individually --- but it's getting late and I'm getting tired. Please don't think that I haven't read every post! I always check this forum, but just can't keep up all the time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ to anyone I haven't addressed by name. Keep healthy and have a restfull night. Blessed be.
Oh my goodness McCool!!! Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I typed in 101 instead of IO1 and went straight to someone elses member page. It makes me wonder *how many* Dmails people have sent that I haven't realized. *sigh* I think I'll contact Dave and ask to change my user name. That's just waaay to close to suit me.
Okay, I had every intention of reading all the late post of last night and all of todays but life just swooped in and carried me away again. Going to have to try and catch up tomorrow.
Went to work this morning. Had to clean the bathroom in the office. It was disguising and I refused to allow another day go by with it like that. Had a long talk with my supervision concerning this and she agrees that it is far below the standards it should be at for a school. I cleaned it this time and she has assured me that it will be kept at this level.
Good thing about going into work today was on the way I stopped at a yard sale. I have been really good at avoiding them as I have more junk then I need already. Stopped and saw two teak rocking chairs towards the back. At first I thought they were there for the sellers to be comfortable but then realized that they were surrounded by other sale items. I casually asked the price. When she said 50.00 I did my best to stop from falling as I calmly said in a quiet controlled voice, " well, I guess thats not to bad considering the shape they are in. (perfect condition). She promptly said "okay how about 40.00 for both" I thought she originally meant 50.00 apiece. So I am now the proud owner of two teak rocking chairs in Mint condition for the SC house. I love deals like this.
I will check in and catch up tomorrow. Hope all had a wonderful day and tomorrow all your wishes for the day come true.
edited to add I probably could get some good deals here in the Orlando area but then it's just more stuff to move!
