Maria-Beautiful, what a perfect "greeter" at the doorstep! Also, you garden is just beautiful, so inviting looking! I love the bench in the evergreens. Take it easy on your back with those blocks!

BAl-I love your arbor!!

defoecat-will you send some of those guys for postage LOL - they're adorable. How could anyone get just one?

Babs-You are a wonderful neighbor and friend! I'm glad you could give our best wishes to your neighbor.

~~~~waving to those I missed, it's been horribly stormy and pouring here, lots of flooding although we're high and dry. But I'm gloomy and sleepy!!
That is why I just took a picture, I would love to have them both, but don't have the time or energy to train puppies right now. I usually get pick of the litter, but this time it was a stud fee. dmc, these are spoken for, but Mr. B has another date lined up within the month. If you would like, I could put your name in the pot!!. They usually sell for $300.00, but the mother is not registered, so that makes a difference. Now you all see why I love Mr. B so much. Cute face, pleading eyes, and a loving desposition.
So cute, Defoe, I am not all familiar with that breed, is it a small dog?
Is there a party for every one some where without me???
waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)
We just got home from dinner with some business associates of DH's so I'm ready to go to bed, just wanted to catch up before the day was over. Must be dinner out night!
Yes, Maria, he is about 12 inches at the shoulder, and very muscular . They were bred in England by Parson Jack Russell, hence the name. They were originally bred to be used in fox hunts, when the hounds ran the fox "to ground", these small dogs were used to go into holes, brush, and flush the fox out. They are very tenatious, and usually very hyper, but Mr. B, didn't inherit the hyper trait. He is the most laid back terrier I have had. In Kentucky horse people use them in the barns and stables as rodent catchers. They also hunt squirrel, and what we call Ground hogs, who live in burrows. Mr B. is very proficient at digging out moles that may use the bad judgement to enter my yard. They also will go after ground squirrels, chipmunks, opossom and raccoons.
I hadn't thought, maybe I could hire Mr. B out to chase the squirrels away from 101's plants, or chase them from Sarv's birdfeeder.
Well, after supper was over, the kitchen cleaned, I happened to catch the weather report which said rain overnight. Since today was such a drying day, I immediately grabbed my Mantis tiller, went to DM's and tilled the small flower beds I had made for her last fall, and then came home got the annuals that I had given her for Mother's day and took them and got them in. All in all, about 50 plants. I didn't have time to do the clean up, and I plan to add an edging, but that can be done some other day.
So it has been an exhausting day. I am planning on hitting some yard sales tomorrow, weather permitting, looking for some more pots and containers. Oh, yes, I have to hit a nursery or garden center, to buy some annuals for a small bed that I created this week, when I moved some day lilies. So that will make 3 new beds this year, plus I am completely redoing the wildflower bed.
After reading what all I have done, I decided that I should be more tired than I feel.
Well, I am off to catch up on some other forums, will be back later.
Maria, if there is a party, I wasn't invited either!!
Okay fess up, who's having the party and forgot to invite Maria and me? LOL
Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)
Bonnie - Mr. B did well. I'm not a dog person, but even I could melt over those puppies.
Maria- lovely garden. And keep the welcome dog for sure.
I got rained out of the garden. Hard to know where to start. The weather's been so crappy for so long that everything needs to be done. I think I'm gonna succumb to weed killer in the lawn. Three years of a "Natural" lawn care program and it looks like h*#l. They forgot to do the pre-emergent control last year and I've got all kinds of weeds. I never used weed killer before, just fertilizer applied occasionally - not enough, but it was in better shape than after three years of expensive care.
Been picking up the house before DD and BF arrive. Still have things to do tomorrow. But I went around the yard and took pics of my hostas. Have spent part of the evening editing them, but they aren't ready to transfer to this computer.
Have a good night everyone.
Okay everybody, I am done in for the day. Visited all the forums, and got caught up.
Viann, I am a dog and cat person. Have 1 of each variety in the house. I am a sucker for puppies and kittens. But have a strong resolve that I don't need more right now. I could easily become a rescue person, instead of being a bag lady I would be a pet lady.!! LOL
Hope everybody has a good night, and a good dry planing day tomorrow.
Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)
you should see my house or better you don't, Samson is shedding again like mad, and I have not done a thing since the sun came out, so much do in the garden, just have to vecuum if nothing els first thing tomorrow morning
You all have a good night, it is midnight here and that means bedtime
Denver, CO
Hi everyone, just got here. Forgot to bookmark this this am, so just spent forever reading the thread. If I wasn't tired from my day, I'd be tired from all of yours!
mollymc, thank you so much, the box arrived today! Everything looks wonderful, have them soaking and I'll get them planted in the morning.
Marie, the dog at the door is marvelous. Makes you want to pet him.
And those puppies! I have more dogs than I know what to do with but I'm sure glad you are a long way away or I'd want one of them.
And if this is dinner out night, would someone clue in my DH??? He just asked me if I wanted to go for a burger. That is NOT as far as I am concerned, dinner out! And the dunce, last time we went for a burger, he wanted McD's, which I hate. So I told him to stop for me at Good Times first. He groused the whole time, he didn't want to make two stops, so he'd have to eat Good times. And he has the nerve to think I am going for another burger? I don't think so. He better find a leftover in the fridge and hope it isn't green and fuzzy.
Defoecat, you did all that AFTER dinner and dishes?? omg, I'm lucky to stay awake after dinner.
Doing a happy dance here, I dug a bunch of hostas last fall, knowing we were moving, and i put them in 14" peat pots. Granted, these weren't named, but they were my first hostas, all assorted different ones, and they are special to me. I had given up on them coming up at all and finally I see nubbies! I am so happy. I guess it just took em a lot longer to wake up this year than usual. Course, now I have to separate them, since they are all crammed together.
Ok, since I found out (TY) how to ~~~, I'm waving at everyone before I go raid the fridge myself and see if I can't eat the last non-fuzzy leftover before he gets out of the shower.
Nite.
At last ... everyone's in the bed and I can come in here and say good night to y'all. No time to comment as I must hit the hay so I can get up and see company off in the a.m. Good night and love to all. :)
Hugs&blessings ... elaine
