We made it through another week, but for us, a gardeners work is never done.
Sit a while and chat before you get busy with your day. We'll be here 24/7

Coffee and......May 19, Friday
Hi!! I'm first after Molly~~
Okay, now I can get down to business :-)
It's in the 40s and raining, tomorrow is supposed to be showers early, then thunderstorms and hail, ditto for Sunday, Mon, just rain....on and on until a week from today when there may be sun. We had strong thunderstorms last night.
It was also the warmest April in recorded in history. I guess people are beginning to believe in climate change with all this.
I can't keep up with everyone at this busy time, but I'm so enjoying the posts.
Maria, you are a treasure no matter how much you type, and remember a picture's worth a thousand words! I truly enjoy the pictures of your DH and of your childhood and history. Your recipes are also the best!
woodspirit-Read about your pump problems last night but I was too tired to type much, I sure hope you're able to get a shower. It will be worth it in the end, but boy renovations are no fun to live through. We will all look forward to the pictures of the "prize"!
Elaine-very disappointing to be treated as Motel 6. I have had a lifetime of a sister who has shown up with her kids at dinnertime, and I never wanted to begrudge the kids anything. Now at 47 I realize, she has never even offered me a single lunch, or picked up the tab for a cup of coffee, mcuh less had my family over for a meal. (She doesn't cook, oh, and she won't buy things either.) Did I mention they have millions of dollars? Her Dh is Wall Street tycoon of sorts. So your story stung me. As of March I no longer speak to my sister. I realized I had nothing left to say.
I sure hope you don't get "used". I'm quite sure no one is as ill as my sister though!
defoecat-wow you have been through a lot the last few days. You are amazing. I wish the whole tow thing would just disappear, that is so unnecessary. Tough enough dealing with the DM and DMIL medical issues! I'm glad you got to plan some fun..I hope your vacation is just super. We will try to get the crummy weather over with before you head east!
m5-Sammi is very handsome, but they just grow up too fast!! Well, maybe a little calming down is okay!!
MaryE-Happy Trails!!!!:-)
darius-Well I just want to be so happy for you, but sister problems....well, you know, I just did that soapbox a few sentences ago. I don't know how to get across to someone that it's time for them to do their share. I sure hope you can get it across to your sister!! I'll cross my fingers and pass the 2x4....
Ann-Hi! Nice to see you lurking!! You keep so busy too, I can barely keep up here and I don't do a tenth of what you do!
McCool-Wow, that was your day off from work? Maybe work isn't a bad idea!! LOL
Casey-Got a kick out of the solution to the DH Aunt problem! Good for you!! Banana splits??? YUM
elaine-Hi! did you get your banana split??? I think I need one for breakfast
sarv-speaking of banana splits.....Doesn't it just sound like the perfect breakfast?
Morning!! I was up at 1:20am and was here until 3 ish. Can you believe that!! I am all screwed up (no comment Bal...)
DM -pass me a banana split- you need your fruit in the morning!! Strange food in the morning is just fine for me. I like eggs for dinner too!! Hey, I have the twin of your sister!! They always stay here and never bring a thing (she doesn't cook) Oh, BIL always brings his scotch as we don't have any. She's tigher than bark on a tree too. (plus being millionaires) I grumble about it, but love her so, that I, for the most part, overlook it. When we go down to visit her, she sends a note and tells us we have to be responsible for providing X meals. We've only stayed for any length 2x in our lives...wonder why....
Maria - for heavens sakes -who cares that you don't address everyone. Just stop in a tell us what you've been doing/baking. Save all your typing for your recipes!! I've heard that they will soon have a computer that you talk into and it will type for you- the first one will have your name on it!! LOL
Molly - how's the orchid house coming along. I am so envious/jealous of you!!!! We start a project and it takes forever to complete. For instance, DH took the storm door off 3 weeks ago in order to put up a new one - still not done.....grrr I've had the 2x4 sitting here and it's not working!!
Darius - did you get all your calls made?? I would be ticked at your DS too, however it you want it done right, sometimes it's easier to do it yourself.
Well, time for a decent breakfast today - toast w/peanut butter. Taking lunch out to a co-worker who had foot surgery. I got up early and made grape salad....yum...
Sarv,
The lumber was delivered yesterday. Then we spent the afternoon helping a friend move. This morning we go to pick up 19 Leylanii Cypress that we ordered for our new planned enchanted garden.
This afternoon we go pick up grass sod that another friend is giving us. We'll use that in patches around the back yard to help fill the lawn.
Looks like we'll run out of time today, so I start painting all the wood tomorrow. It'll be a lot easier painting on sawhorses than on the orchid house after it's up. Jeremy will start digging post holes, then he wants me out of his way so I'll have to paint the back of our house. (I didn't tell you when we painted the house we only did 3 sides did I? heehee) It looked really good for pictures.
Busy day, I better get up and attem.
Molly
:^))))
LOL Molly - painting only 3 sides!!! That's a good one!!
LOL Molly, that's funny! A friend of ours was painting his house, in his nororiously slow fashion. He finished the first side one summer, the back side, the next, one side a year ....by the time he was done, we were laughing and telling him that it was time to paint the first side again! It was a very small house!
Guess who spent the night? BIL was supposed to go to DH's buddy's house, but he got about two miles from here and the truck "broke down" and DH had to go rescue him. I did not go prepare the guest room. My ironing board, etc. were still in there but I didn't feel any inspiration to go in and put fresh sheets on or put my clutter away. And I'm out of eggs so I guess they'll have to go see Mickey D for breakfast. Remember that little guy from Lil Abner who walked around with the black cloud over his head?
Sun's out and the wind has calmed down, so I'm off to golf. Hope you all have the day you wish for! ~~ on my way to the shower, see you later!
Sheila
Good morning. AmandaPanda kitty is helping me type, she is just on the edge of going from a mellow purring lap ornament (rare for her) to attack cat. She has both front feet on my left arm and wrist, tail flopping and is giving me an occasional bunny kick. Ouch, too rough, it's playtime somewhere else. Yesterday she spent most of the day outside, even wanted to go back out there when the thunderstorm rolled through in the afternoon. Having spent her early months as a feral kitten, I think she remembers some things, and the big outside world is not too scarry when there are lots of bushes for cover.
Maria, I agree with all above, just come in and let us know you are ok, share what you can and don't worry about the rest. I would doubt if anybody here expects you to comment about everything. It's a bit like sticking your head into a real kitchen and saying "I'm ok, can't stay now, I'll be back after while". Anyhow, at a real table you would probably not catch everything that was being said, and nobody would be offended. So, please don't worry about it.
Thanks everybody for the good wishes on the weather, it does look a bit stormy over there where I'm going, north and east of Portland, just south of Mt Adams in Washington. Mt Adams is in the Cascade range just south of Mt St Helens, which is continuing it's slow motion eruption, poofing out some steam and making a new top inside the crater it made in 1980 when it did the big boom. That was 26 years ago today. Here is a link that will get current pictures every few minutes when the weather permits. http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/volcanocams/msh/
Dmc, we had a warm enough last month or so that I have already planted my first corn. Usually I don't get corn in the ground until after June 1, but the soil is warm, the weather forecast says warm warm warm into the forseeable future, and so I decided to put in the first planting early. About 2 weeks from now I'll plant some more, then another 2 weeks after that. Corn on the cob is what summer is all about. I also planted bush beans yesterday. Then just when I was about ready to plant the artichokes the storm started and I retreated to the house, sat down to work a puzzle since the computer was unplugged, and got very sleepy. There were dishes to do but I didn't want to have my hands in water with the storm going through, and it was much easier to sit down.
The lawn didn't get mowed, it will be there on Monday. Not everything got done, I have planting to do this morning before I leave, watering greenhouse things, set up the sprinkler so hubby can water new seed plantings, etc, etc, and then have to throw things in the trailer, add the horse and head down the road.
Our son just called to let us know our new windows came in, they might even be installed by the time I get home and I won't have any of those hold my breath moments that come when the guys are doing major surgery things on the house with ladders in my flower beds. I have put off planting one of the beds knowing that there were going to be feet in it soon and the flowers could come later.
Woodspirit, I hope your house is ready for you to move back into soon. It did sound like a lot of work to be done in such a short time. Meanwhile, you don't have to live with the ladders, sawdust, mess. And you can say you've been on an extended camping trip, .......errr...... without the fun and scenery.
Molly, I will have to look at your progress pictures another time since I need to get moving now. (see Maria, another case of I'm here but can't stay to comment on everything).
~~~ bye bye.
Good Morning, Gobs!
Maria, I cannot possibly keep up and post to everyone here either. I need to have my eyes checked again as I can no longer focus with my left eye... makes driving hazardous. Of course, I'm not driving right now due to letting my truck tags expire.
I still have lots of calls on details to make today. Since my sister is putting up 100% of the money and I am retired, I feel it's only fair. That 'share' will be much larger when we move and I have to utilize what gardening and building skills I have. I think her thumb is browner than mine, LOL! I'm SO anxious to get up there and PLANT!
Wishing everyone a wonderful day~~~~
SARV----- Maybe you were just hungry.
Morning
Well, I've got more I want to do today. I decided to feed the sis sandwiches, though. Will act like nothing's wrong and at least do a platter with meats and cheeses and might even make some potato salad if I get up from here. :)
Mary~ sure hope the weather holds and you do good on your ride. Oh, and maybe those windows will get installed while you're gone! Now that will be just the ticket. I know I'd be standing there holding my breath the entire time.
Woodspirit~ I can certainly sympathize with you on the "no bathing". When the DH redid our bathroom 3 years ago, we couldn't take a bath for 3 days. Luckily we were on vacation and didn't have to be around anyone! LOL
Hi Maria ... am waving at you and Samson. ~~~
Pati and Hap, I *know* you're lurking out there also and just want to say hi to you also. ~~~
Well, to the rest of the gang ... I've got to get a move on. Will try to check back later, but if I don't you'll know why! I'm grabbing another bowl of that pudding as I run out the door. Like sarv said ... I need my fruit!
... Elaine
Sheila, the guy from lil abner hm... i went seen that play here yrs . ago over 20.. i got a chuckle thanks.. I cannot remember names after i read posts to comment is my reason.. sorry.. pudding oh the food on here .. i actually bought some cookies which i don't do yes 3 days i ate them all.. ginger sugar ones.. so now weight is coming on to. ugh hate it.. Have a great day and week end all.. blessings..
Good morning, all and happy you understand. I had to take typing and shorthand in school, I disliked it thoroughly . I remember saying , what for I will never do anything with that, ha ha, did I know about computers then? of course not or I would have paid more attention to it, lol
Some body thinks we need some more rain, grrrrrr, and I certainly do not like the thunder and lightening we have right now. Wanted to plant some more, will I ever get done with this crazy weather! Still have to plant tomatoes and vegetables into the EB, Feel so sorry for folks little bit north of me who suffered already so much with floodings.
Some sisters you two have, Sarv and dmc, it dias not seem to matter how much one has, there are always the givers and the takers among them
Am going to send this before it goes puff due to the storm
hope, you always have such inspirational quotes. Do you have a book of them?
101, I think sandwiches and potato salad is more than enough for sis. I don't think I would keep quiet though, I would tell her that she has the opportunity to visit with other family all the time, and you would have liked her to come visit with you. Nothing wrong with letting someone know how you feel. That way she will get it that you are hurt, and next time may be different.
Mary, sounds like you accomplished a lot, don't fret about the undone things. And maybe having the windows in when you get home will be a bonus, that you didn't have to have near heart attacks while they were being installed.
Molly, gosh planting 19 trees, moving, painting. You sure stay busy. Laughed about 3 sided painting. Sounds like me.
Darius, I guess that would be a fair arrangement with the calls and stuff. So, make sure it is done right, do it yourself!!
M5, you didn't work hard enough yesterday, you still had BIL last night!! Hope you have good golfing weather, and that you have a good day.
Sarv, 3 weeks without a storm door. Sounds like you live here. Start a project, but procrastinate, and a day project turns into a month long one. You said the 2x4 was broke, what's wrong with it? Do we need to start sending donations to purchase another one?, We can't be without it.
dmc, your forcast sort of sounds like the one we had for this week. We had a storm yesterday too. Came from the north, which is strange. I have tree leaves all over my front porch, so need to get out and get that cleaned up.
pati, and happy, ~~ to you, as 101 said, know you are out there lurking.
Hi Oz and Bal, know that you are too busy to stop by much, but check in and let us know how you are doing occasionally.
Well, have paid some bills this morning, and mentioned that the front porch needs sweeping, since the sun is shining, may just get that power washing done too. Okay, Monday is usually laundry day, and I did some, but can you believe, I have done 1 load this morning, and started another one. Who is stopping by and leaving me their dirty things? It couldn't all be from here.
Will check in later to see if everybody is accomplishing what they intended, or have gotten side tracked, like I did yesterday.
Maria, we posted at the same time. Sorry to hear you are having more rain. Add me to the list that has a sister that is a taker. She doesn't do, just calls and tells me what I need to do for DM! grrr, I just cannot understand where some people think that they are owed something.
Well, gonna run now and start the physical part of the day, already done the mental part!!
meant to say Poof, lol
I made a lemon bread yesterday , you know the kind you prush a lemon glace on it? It is a new recipe for me, it came with the lemon cake loaf pan I just bought at W,Sonoma, there is lots left for you , it really is yummy, I have already had two pieces, very unusual for me.
About sisters, I only have one sibling, my sister Katerina who still lives in Vienna. The last time I visited her she insisted on paying half of my hotel bill because I could not stay with her, her appartment has only three rooms
kitchenm LR and one BR. plus she and her husband would never allow mr to pay for an opera ticket or take the bill in a resteraunt. When all my money was pick pocketed she withdrew money from the bank right away so I would be not pennyless. She is quite a sister, I miss her a lot, her husband is getting the last treatment for colon cancer next month, we now hope for the best.
Thunderstorm has passed, this makes me feel a lot better, I usually pace back anfd forth this time I decoded to post instead :-)
Am not going to check for errors, hope yopu do not mind
Maria, great sounding sister! BUT... you got hit by a pick pocketer? Wow, must have been scary.
Lemon bread with a lemon glacé sounds delish!
Hi all,
Just a quick check-in. Lots to do to make the house presentable before DD and BF (maybe DSILto be?) arrive tomorrow. And I would like to get into the garden. Our weather is just as dmc has described and promisesd to be much the same through the weekend which is a holiday weekend here.
Darius, if your sister is putting up 100% of the money, I hope you have a good written agreement given the way she has treated you in the past. I'd be very nervous.
Maria - sounds as though you have the best of sisters. Hope the treatments for her husband's cancer go well.
Mary - interesting site about Mt. St. Helens. We had a good view of those mountains when we flew into Portland last September. (My niece's wedding was in Hood River on Labour Day). Nice scenery around there.
Hi Elaine, Sheila, Sarv, Bonnie, Molly and anyone else whose name I missed or who is lurking.
Ann
quotes no get some from my prayer site.. thanks..
somone said lemon and i wanted lemon pie for couple weeks now.. or lemon bars or?? ..
funny one: some days are a total waste of make up.. mine are always.lol...
Yes, I thought I told you. My sister and I went shopping one day. just withdraw some money to purchase presents for my family here. I had a $1000.oo in my billfole along with credit card and dr. lic. ss. card etc. when we left to go to another dtore my billfold was not with me anymore. We reported it to the police . they aked me what the person looked like, I had to laugh and said if I had seen him or her he be dead by now, lol. Well you can imagine the phone calls I had to make to cancel everything, one of the credit card people sent me emergency money and my daughters helped here with the banks. Let me tell you it was quite an ordeal!
Most everyone in Vienna lives in an appartment, the very wealthy people lived in a villa on the outskirts of the city, today they live in penthouses with gardens and swimming pools on top, nice.
I played with other children in the middle of the street under the watchful eye of my mother who would check on us from her window every so often.
There were stores on the first floor , the butcher, a grocery store. a vegetable and fruit store and a 'tabak-traffic' store that just sold smoking stuff and newspaper, a bauty salon and a dairy store, my favorite place was the library. You can see every thing was right there.
My parents kept thts appartment fo many years after they built their retirement house in the alps so when i visited them I would stay there or visit with them in their house, that house has three bedrooms, such luxery, lol, but Vienna will always my most favorit place in the world.
Ann, we are in good shape about an agreement although not in writing. We each need the other! Plus, the property goes to me in trust for the kid until she's 30 if something happens to my sister. (And, a life tenancy for me.)
Maria, we cross posted... What an amazing story! Just glad you were not hurt except in the pocketbook.
Hello all,
I can't keep up with everyone, but thought I'd just drop by for a minute.
I just learned what meezer is! I thought it was your last name and you had five kids, meezersfive. Now I understand you must have 5 siamese cats, eh?
Last Friday (the last time I was here) I loaded up the truck with stuff to sell at a local annual market and I about sold out. Here's the truck, full and ready to go, with my new "dog free zone" in front. Lots of projects.
Sunday starts the HSUS spay/neuter clinic. I do the food. 50 volunteers are coming for four days to do surgeries and vaccinations for the animals here for free! I volunteer to provide food for them. Mainly I make all the breakfasts (the only meal they sit for), and have arranged for different things to come in during the days. So, broccoli quiche is in the oven, spinach is steaming for spanikopita (sp?) and then to town (65 miles) to shop for perishables. It's raining, so can't take the truck. It'll be a squeeze to get everything into the car.
The dogs are all happy it's raining. I usually make them stay outside when I cooking this much, but they're being very quiet (all nine of them), waiting for handouts.
I'm glad to have someone to share with, as I do here at DG!
LOvely roses, 4paws, mine are going to look like that pretty soon, I hope lol
Howdy. High cloud cover so far this morning, not as hot as has been. Immy didn't do well at obedience last night on the sit stay. Rest of the hour was a "tonight we will play games and have fun". Don't like this instructor at all. 10 minutes of working and the rest he talks about grooming, what to do if your doggie has the trots, etc. Can't wait to get her enrolled in a real class. DW is working today so I have all day to finish shingling the side of the gateway. Hope she likes it, or at least isn't too negative. Wish I could find an organic-petsafe-oneshot lawn weed and feed solution. The rhubarb pie was good,still half of it left if you want to try it. The Marie Callender frozen crusts are wonderful. Back to the shingles now, everyone have a great day.
GM, GOBs and 'Ettes!
First let me thank everyone for their wonderful thoughts and good wishes on the passing of my next door neighbour. Yes, indeed, we all loved Bob and the outpouring of support and kindness has been overwhelming. I thank you for his widow. I've copied and pasted all the kind comments and printed them out for her to read just how wonderful folks can really be...even when they don't know each other.
I just came back from next door as I was there while the Home Medical company came to pick up the hospital bed. My neighbour is at a service his co-workers are having for him with a prayer meeting and a lowering of the flag to half-staff as he was a city employee. I've been fielding phone calls all morning and am very grateful to everyone for being so kind in their behalf. I've talked to relatives, friends and acquaintances and they've all been just wonderful.
While I was over at the house, the mayor of town called and asked that the widow bring their yellow lab along to the service. Isn't that unbelievable? Bob was always seen around town with his lab and they were inseparable. What a lovely gesture of support and kindness that they would include the dog.
Well, it's time I get back into my own home and get some things taken care of that have lain aside for awhile now. I've got to cull out our closets and get rid of a bunch of clothes that just need to be gotten rid of. I've allowed a lot of things to slide by for quite some time and now I am ready to get back to my own chores.
I hope and pray everyone has a wonderful day. I send my best wishes to everyone for just one special thing to happen to them today. Hugs to you all, thank you again,
Always with care, ~Babs~
DMC - This rain is enough isn't it? I feel like I'm going to turn into a prune! The sun was shining here about an hour ago, but since I'm leaving work at 2, the rain has started again.
Sarv - Hope you can get your sleep schedule back to normal. Doesn't it just wear you out when you keep waking up at odd hours?
Molly - LOL at the paint job.
M5 - How long will BIL be with you now?
Mary - Oooh! New windows! They made such a difference in our old house. Now I don't feel the wind blow through.
Hope - Great quotes!
Maria - Always glad to hear from you! I also have a great sister. She lives next door so we see each other almost every day! She is 14 years younger than me, but now that we are older, the age difference isn't a big deal.
Darius - Good luck getting everying together for your move.
Elaine - Hope you still have a good visit with your Sis.
Ann - Do you forsee a big announcement? That would be so exciting!
4paws - That sounds like an awesome spay/neuter event. I wish you much success. I am a BIG supporter of spay/neuter. I work with alot of animal shelters and the number of homeless animals nationwide is just staggering.
It's time to leave work now, so hope everyone has a good weekend. ~~~~~~~~to everyone I missed!
Babsw, I've always heard that dogs need to sniff thier dead owners so they know they are gone, and so the dog doesn't wait months and years for them to come back. Don't know if he will have the same scent if embalmed.
Robert, have you considered corn gluten for the yard?
No Darius, I don't know a thing about corn gluten, but will find out now. Sounds like something to make tortillas out of.lol
LOL, Robert! I know you will research it adequately so I won't bore you with what I know. ps, there's at least one thread here on DG about it, maybe started by Terry?
susieq, you know when you are off work, usually for a short time, it is risky to ask that the weather be nice so you can get something done!!
Maria, your childhood sounds wonderful. I don't think that you had mentioned your stolen wallet before. That must have been a horrible thing. Glad that your sister came to your rescue, and helped out. That lemon bread sounds good.
Darius, I sure hope that even though the agreement isn't written that it turns out well. Just concerned for you.
ViAnn, maybe an announcement in the near future! Keep us posted.
4paws. that photo was great. Beautiful roses. I never have luck with mine, so finally gave them up years ago, so my enjoyment comes from seeing somebody elses. It's great that you do that volunteer work, very honorable endeavor. Good luck with the event.
Bal, I sure do love that arbor. I took a little of that rhubarb pie. I have some that is looking good, but first year, so won't be able to use it this year.
Babs, that was such a nice gesture to invite the dog to the service. They are such loyal animals, hope that he doesn't grieve too long. You are such a good neighbor and friend, I am sure that you will be there for Bob's wife to help her through this time.
Well, as I said, went out to sweep the front porch, and several hours later, I have a very clean pressure washed porch, and back deck. Now in the next day or so, will get the protective coating on both. That is such a job, but always makes everything look so good for the summer. Still have 2 loads of laundry to fold and put away and supper to cook. Gosh it has been a busy day. So off to finish work, and back after supper and kitchen clean up to check in again.
Hi folks,
Babs, sorry, I missed commenting on Bob's passing. How fortunate he and his family were to have had you helping out. I agree - nice gesture about the dog. I imagin his wife will need quite a bit of support for awhile. Sure hope she will be OK.
To those who asked about the announcement - I think maybe. But I just keep my mouth shut and hope. this guy is a keeper for sure (he's an engineer with the City of Vancouver) and he's survived a couple of extended family get togethers and is still around. They've been living together for awhile, just sold her condo and are looking for a house to buy together. His folks are from Kitchener, ON and I can't really imagine that they would want us all at the cottage at the same time if there might not be an announcement. So, we wait and see.
4paws - sure hope the spay-neuter clinic goes well.
Gonna head out to the garden. Still cloudy and not all that nice, but last I looked it wasn't raining.
Ann
Robert, I bought a bag of corn gluten for my yard. It provides a good degree of pre-emergent control.
Have been working in the garden since I was on here last, the sun has come out but it is cool perfect to work out of doors. I had to lift the blocks of cement that made a walk in the garden because they simply disappeared below the earth, what a job that was lifting those heavy blocks, but it is done now except for filling in with dirt..
Yes in many ways my childhood was great but the depression right after ww I made evrybody very poor then came world war !! that stole my care free childhood.
Not done yet but here is a photo
I'm back! Been gone since 10:30 this morning and here it is 4:30 - whew long day and I am unhappy that I wasn't home working in my gardens, but it still was cloudy until about 2- then the sun came out, but it is windy....maybe tomorrow!!
Maria-your gardens look so peaceful - love the angel and the bench...Reminds me, I need to get my bench out!! Wonder where in the barn DH put it!! Oh, lemon bread sounds wonderful - I'll take two pieces with a cup of tea...
My waking up during the night doesn't bother me - since I am retired I can snooze anytime I want. When I was working - I was a wreck about not sleeping. That's the best part of retirement for me!!
4paws- wonderful about the spay/neuter stuff- I totally support it!! We've always had all our pets neutered. We have a traveling clinic here for very low cost.
Babs- sounds like you live in a very caring town. So nice in this day and age...
Well, I need to get something done....see ya all later!!
Maria, that is a beautiful garden, even if it is not finished.
sarv, where have you been today. If the weather was rotten, it doesn't make any difference, cause you couldn't have gotten anything done.
Just popping in for a minute. sis just called and they *are* coming for supper. Sandwich meat is ready, though. LOL Got turkey, ham or roast and cheese along with tomato and lettuce. (wish it was my maters) That'll teach her to be wishie washie! sarv, there's 2 kinds of ice cream for dessert!
Maria do be careful with all that lifting! Ouch, that sounds heavy to me!!
Defoe, auuu puppies! Did you get a chance to snuggle one? It's a *good* thing I didn't get to see them. They'd be right here at my feet!
Ann, good luck on your possible new addition. Good idea to just keep quiet. ;)
4paws~ hats off to you!
Okay, I had so much more I wanted to say but can't remember so I'll wave at everyone else. Coffee break is over!
~Elaine~
Hey, that cake is just fabulous, Maria. Mama bakes one that sounds exactly like it! I'll have a piece along with the pie!! LOL
Had a big surprise today, delivery showed up while I was digging in the garden, just look what he brought, a friend sent it, in a card he wrote , 'you pay a lot of attention to Samson and none to me, just pretend it is me, LOL LOL LOL
Here is Samson paying a lot of attention to his new friend and is probably saying to him self, what is this, it does not move.
oh crappola, I just blew up the entire post. I hate when that happens!
Starting over. Grrrrrr. It was cool and cloudy when we got on the course at 10:30 but it cleared up shortly after and turned out to be a beautiful day. I won't comment on my game, it's been a long winter.
Mr. B makes beautiful babies!!! Don't you get the pick of the litter Bonnie? LOL I wouldn't be able to resist. What a pair of cuties.
When I got home ...after stopping at a few garage sales...got the attached rug for $3...DH came up from the garage and started his sad tale of how the muffler he bought to put on his commuter car doesn't quite fit and needs an 8" extension blah blah blah and he didn't want to go to a muffler shop to get it ....etc etc.
It finally dawned on me that he planned to use that car to take the BIL back down to So. Illlinois and he was trolling for an offer from me to use my car. It didn't work. I just said what a shame it was and he'd probably have to take his (gas hog) truck. Uh huh. My car. The one for which he was so pressed for time that he couldn't replace the head gasket for me.? ...not in this lifetime, chum.
I hate to admit, I enjoyed the moment. And I'm tucking my car keys in a safe place! I don't want to wake up tomorrow morning to a note that says the truck wouldn't start so he had to make do with my vehicle!
Who wanted lemon pie? Me too....homemade, with real lemons ...I haven't tried the Maria Callendar crusts, but I've got pie crust in the frig I should probably use. Maybe tomorrow. After I get in my car and go to the store. LOL
Suzie I'm going to go look for the thread where I documented one of BIL's visits here, it's in Coffee....a ways back but the memory lingers on. If I can find it, I'll edit this post.
Later...
Sheila
