Good Morning all,
Time to wake up and smell, er I mean have a cuppa coffee. Yep again I was too tired to set this up last night, but I'm here now, c'mon in.
Ya know the door wasn't even locked.

Coffee and.....Thursday, May 18th
Casey,
Sorry for my tardiness. To answer your question about the orchid house, I started a progress thread over here: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/603758/
The picture is of an actual orchid house that belongs to one of my customers in Ft Lauderdale. I copied hers but did all the drawings/plans myself.
Well I need to go catch up on my threads for last night. I woke up in front of the TV at 15 minute intervals due the last Law and Order of the season. The ADA got kidnapped and killed, Jack McCoy got fired and I got to see a bit of the commericials. If I wasn't so tired I would have got ticked off at myself and woke up.

:^)))
YAY! The coffee's ready!
Hi to Solitaire, I thought your advice on the towing was great. Good to know! Last time I needed my disabled car towed I had to provide proof it was mine, so I wondered what the authorization procedure was.
Casey-If I could fit into my dryer on high I could probably experience your weather LOL. As I'm sure you've heard, it's just been so cool and wet here I finally feel just, kind of moldy or something! My feet are always cold! I get tired of the wet grass too, oh well, it
'll end eventually
darius-I know about missing green. I do love green! And the plants are happy. So I have to rejoice in that.
Chat seems to be working but there's no one there?
I'll be there in a minute dm....I was here MUCH earlier - buy you sleepyheads were still snoozing- got up a little after 4am. can you believe it...
Already been out for my garden walk - trying to decide where to put my latest stash!! Weather is still cool here - in the mid 40's and only going up to the mid 50's - way below normal!! Squished some more aphids too - yuck.
For those who care, I'm eating leftover seafood pizza for breakfast. I brought it home from the restaurant for dh, but he didn't take it for lunch today- so his loss! LOL
Off to h/p later, then home to hopefully plant!
What do yall think of that new chat? I think I need to go to Dave's forum and get the low down. Old dogs/new tricks and all.
Molly
Morning all. Groan! I'm definitely not a morning person.
dmc, our weather has been most unusual here for May this year. It actually seems more like April. I've enjoyed having the house opened a bit, and it hasn't started with the humidity yet. *knock on wood* I *know* I'm going to regret uttering those words.
Molly, thanks for the link to your new thread. I hadn't seen it and I so enjoyed watching you build your new place. :)
Hi Susan ... sounds like you and Kelly are having fun with your coOps. The plant tags do sound like a deal and pretty, too. Good luck with your sale! I need to post some more pictures of my hostas, as they have really grown since I received them.
sarv, yuck on your breakfast!! LOL All I want is my coffee! speaking of which ... I need another cup.
Catcha later.
~Elaine~
sarv, I've always had pretty good luck using soapy water for aphid control. No damage to the plants and the added advantage of keeping the cats from chewing on the sprayed plants. I have even sprayed a few plants that didn't have aphids but the cats seemed to love eating them. After the aphids are dead - usually a few hours - I just water good to wash off the soap residue.
I've gotten everything read, but now I'm out of time - so bbl

Anybody got any recommendations for decent coffee that doesn't cost the family fortune. I'm tightening my grocery belt, due to my enormous repair bill for the Toyota and going to forego the $7 per lb. whole bean that I usually get. Tried Maxwell House and it's not horrible but it's not so good either. Still haven't found that bag of Kona blend I put in a safe place....
Darius, I think Carat said it all....run!!! you couldn't pay me enough money to live with a teenager again! Maybe one would be tolerable but I think I used up all my patience when I had my three plus a niece and a nephew , all at the same time. And, believe me, that was NOT my idea. Hope all the financing/tests/paperwork associated with the purchase go smoothly. Did you ever do anything with that radon report you got from the place you were renting?
And Carat, having Jenn in her own apartment for a while before you move is going to be a real learning experience for her. She'll find out quickly that food doesn't reproduce in the refrigerator, laundry doesn't do itself, and bills must be paid on time!
Lauri, whew, that's hot! I'm hopelessly limp when the temperature gets over 80 or so. Don't do heat well. Lived in Denver in the mid-sixties, and we had a long hot spell of over 100*, I thought I would die. Used to go sit in the kid's wading pool with them. Told them to splash on mom.
Laptops are unbelievably heavy. I can barely drag mine up from the bottom shelf of the coffee table without grunting. Can't picture dragging it through those endless airport corridors. If I go anywhere it will probably stay home. Maria, it does feel like rocks!
Sarv, good breakfast! LOL Glad your dinner was fun. I enjoy meeting for lunch with my former coworkers, most of whom are retired. And we are all very happy to have left the politics, the work load, and the sniping behind us. As my old boss said once, it's a better world out here.
Mary, I hope whatever bug was trying to bite you has given up and you feel well this morning. I do better with a list to cross things off too, when I have multiple chores to do. Even better, if I don't write them down sometimes I can forget about them completely.
Elaine, sometimes I tell DH "I haven't really been sitting here all day!!" because I'm usually on when he leaves for work, and am doing my end of the day checking when he comes home. Of course, he doesn't notice that I've done laundry, or cleaned, or shopped, all that just happens by magic. And, you shared that little tomato. No matter the size it had to taste better than those cardboard flavored supermarket abominations.
Woofens!! No secrets!! What new pet? I'm still looking for a female sealpoint, but it won't surprise anybody when I get one. Which reminds me I need to make a call. One lady I spoke to a couple weeks ago said she had some due.
I know you all need a Sammi fix but he's growing so fast, it seems he needs a lot of sleep. He is way bigger than Souky now, and has calmed down quite a bit although he does have his moments. One of my Mother's day gifts came in a big Crate and Barrel box and it's still in the living room as he and Souky play hide and seek in it. Nice decor....LOL
Jody,it's nice to see you again. And for all you others who only drop in when time permits, we are always glad to see you so don't ever feel that you aren't part of this coffee klatch.
McCool, I've pretty much considered "guys" to be gender neutral for a long time now. Doesn't bother me a bit. I think the fellas would be more than a little upset if we called them "gals" but I don't think that's likely to happen.
Dcat, the towing place is probably not answering your calls because they know they are in the wrong. Next time you leave a message, just tell them you are notifying the police that your car was illegally towed and see if that doesn't get them off the dime.
Susan, a year of healing! I don't recall them telling you that before the surgery....but then, my Dr. didn't tell me I had a slight tear in my rotater cuff either, just told me to take Naproxin twice a day and see him again later. If that's all the advice I'm getting out of him he can forget seeing me. And my DIL is the one who told me the diagnosis, as she works in that office. She said they don't like to repair them on anyone over fifty....Cripes, everybody I know is over fifty!!!
~~~~~at Suzi, Solitaire, hope, Flamingo, Oz, Bal, Ernie, lurkers, stalkers, peekers, and anyone else who gets sucked into reading our daily ramblings. Incidentally, the ~~~ symbol on my keyboard is left of the numeral one, in the upper left hand corner.
Later....
Sheila
Just had a dmail from Julie, she said to say HI!! She's been enbroidering like a maniac. Nice to know she's still around!
Well, I have been up since 7:00, had my coffee,DS came down, and I actually fixed a traditional breakfast. Have had a partial garden walk, and since it rained again last night, marked the tilling and planting off my "to do" list. So that leaves wielding the pressure washer on the deck and front porch. It is still too chilly outside to go play in ice cold water yet. So just sort of putzing around.
Since the tow people are still not answering the calls, DH made up his mind last night, that he would go get it. He went early this morning, no one around, entered the compound through an open gate, hooked to it and pulled it away. I am sure that later we will get a call that we still owe the bill. NOT. I will inform him that if he could steal it off the side of the road, I am entitled to retrieve it. And also give the lawyer's name and phone number if he wants it. I am sure that this is not the end to this tale.
DM called awhile ago and asked what time her Dr. appointment was, she is dressed and ready to go, and the appointment isn't until Tuesday of next week. I told her that I could come and get here and go for a ride, since she was dressed ready to go!! And I think I am confused sometimes. Heaven help us, if my memory gets that bad. We will show up for appointments that are only in one of our heads!!.
Well, not commenting right now, so I am off to do something.
Morning all! Sun is shining, but supposed to get wicked thunder storms towards evening.
Defoe - We have friends who own a towning company and most companies charge storage for each day that they hold your car. Around here it runs around $25 per day.
Elaine - Congrats on the first tomato! I only have blossom on mine. Some of the pepper plants we bought over the weekend do have little peppers on them though.
M5 - Sammi has grown into a very handsom man!
Carat - What will the temps be like when I come out that way in September?
Well, I have packaged up some plant trades and heading to the post office. Will get to the power washing when I get back.
susieq, can tell the project is over, as you have time to drop by now.
M5, we do Folgers or Maxwell house, we are not coffee affectionados, so these suit us. Noticed in the grocery the other day that they have John Conti, and Starbucks. I tried the Starbucks, and yuck, too much for me.
Solitare and susieq, thanks for the input on the car. DH pulled it to a garage, and the mechanic called just awhile ago, and tells me that the motor is blown. So more $$ there, or just junk it. We have to have a second car, as we both travel in separate directions most days.
~~~~at Darius, Molly, tgif, dmc got to get going to mail these plants.
Just checking in for a short moment. I wanted to let those who know about my next door neighbour. He passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon. This is the gentleman with the pancreatic cancer. Bob was 52. I'm grateful for his release from pain and suffering. Now comes the hard part, his wife has to go on without him and he was everything to her. They had no children and Bob was her world. She is so tired but she's become very strong through all this. She's always had a problem with anxiety and fear, but through all this, she's learned to deal with things much better than she has in the past. I'm grateful Bob taught her a few lessons in his dying. If you have a moment and are of the mind, please say a little prayer for them.
With care,
~Babs~
Good morning. Got another busy day coming up, actually it started about 2 hours ago. Yesterday's list is still long since I kept adding more things to it every time I crossed off some. And, this morning I can smell mouse again, grrrr, so now I need to clean the stairwell corner to see what is lurking there. Thankfully, that won't take as long as the first session in the basement, there is only a door between them and it has a gap that mice could easily go under. Old houses are such fun!
Defoe, often just threatening to get a lawyer into it will get results. If the lawyer actually has to write a letter to them then that probably would cost you more than the towing and storage bill. I hope this doesn't get more complicated.
Last night I read all of the rest of yesterday's thread, and had comments to make, however, when I got to the end I was so nearly asleep that I had no idea what those things were anymore, so I just went to bed.
The bug is not bugging me too much, throat still scratchy, some congestion and ICK drainage, but my energy level is staying up there so far. Today is "get everything done" day because I have to leave tomorrow morning for a ride this weekend. Patch gets the job this time.
And speaking of jobs, I have plenty of them waiting for me. Laundry is first on the list so that I can get it out in the sun to dry. Our humidity is so low that it will dry quickly and then I can mow that part of the lawn this afternoon.
Have a great day everyone.
Babs,T&Ps for her. She will be amazed at how strong she can be later on, but right now, I'm sure she is feeling very lost and alone. Please tell her that *many* loving people are thinking of her and wishing we could give her a real hug.
ginni
Oh Babs I am so so sorry to hear about your friend. I *know* he will be missed but am glad he doesn't have to suffer any more. Please give his wife my regards and let her know I'm sending prayers of comfort her way.
Suzie you're ahead of me on the peppers! I only have blooms on mine! LOL
Defoe isn't that just the way of it. Always more $$ for something. :-(
Well, I've finally found an answer to my squirrel problems. Got a bunch of pinecombs from my MIL on Sunday and it seems they don't like the points on them! LOL Should have thought of it sooner, but we don't have pine trees in our yard. So far so good, though!
Gotta go. Am cleaning up. My sis and niece are coming this week-end.
~Elaine~
Good day all.. have great one.. thought this a neat thought.. hope so...i read all your posts so i can feel better every morning..
It's not how much you have that makes people look up to you, it's who you are.
Twyla
Babs, I know exactly how she will feel, my husband was the world to me too and was totally lost without him and so were my children, but with the help of very special friends at DG I found the ladder to climb out of the hole. All of my sympathy at this point will be for her.
Babs- my sympathy to your neighbor's family. That is just too young to leave this world. The poor wife- glad she learned to be strong - but she'll need your kindness... Is she a gardener? Have a computer? We'd love another chair at the table.
IO1- aha you just gave me a good idea. My cat delights in sitting underneath the bird feeder just waiting for a little morsel - I am going to put pine cones under the feeder to discourage her from laying in waiting.
Good Luck Mary on your ride tomorrow.
defoe- drat- when it rains it pours - don't ya just hate cars!! Mine has over 100,000 and I keep waiting for it to go. Hope you find a cheap, reliable one!! I laughed at your DM all dressed for the doc! My mom has actually gone to the doc and sat there before she was told it was the wrong day!! She got a good laugh at that one.
M5- lucky your DIL worked in the doc's office. I thought all docs wanted to do surgery to get the $$! Mine always wants to run every test imaginable - that's why I try not to go to the doc. I ususally get better anyhow without any doc intervention. Heck your body falls apart at 50...
I put on a sweat shirt - it got so chilly out - Gray pouffy clouds and a very strong winds. It's blowing all the helicopters out of the maple trees!
I did manage to vacuum today and sweep the floors and did clean the bathroom and do dishes, but that's about all. Went to the bank and they never gave me back my check book (drive thru )grrr and would you believe they never even called me!! I had to call them. They said I could come and pick it up (snotty little kid told me that) I said I would be by tomorrow- wasn't making a special trip. This used to be a little local bank where everyone knew you by your name and asked about your kids - it was taken over by a huge new bank and the service has gone wayyyy down. If it wasn't so darn handy, I'd pull my $$ out. Went in a while ago to renew a CD and the rates were sooo low that I said I wanted to draw my $$ out and would put it in a different bank - they promptly changed their tune and gave me a higher rate. I think that stinks!!
Well, DH is home and is snoozing - he has a dentist appt and is complaining about it. They always chew his butt about something. He said his teeth were getting old - quit bugging about it!!
Time to think about something for chow...
Oh boy I'm steamed! The dear sis called and said she was getting off early and would be here Friday so figured that meant early enough for supper and maybe a visit? Well got an Email today at lunch and she said she'll probably be stopping at other sis's and eating with entire family before coming. They're all up there and can do that *any* time they take a notion. Guess I'm just a Motel #6. Well, I'll just leave the light on if you get my drift. :-(
On the brighter side I received a surprise package from a dear friend today full of plants and beautiful coffee cup for my collection. :) It's one she made and is *very* special. Isn't it amazing how something always happens just in the nick of time when you need it? Life is amazing that way!
sarv, I hope the pinecones work out for you too. Hmmm, my MIL might be on to a slick idea!
Hi Twyla, I enjoyed your thought for today!
Well, this Motel 6 has some sheets in the dryer to rescue and put on the bed.
~Elaine~
Babs - So sorry about your neighor. She is so lucky to have you though. I will keep her in my T&P.
Defoe - I can't say the project is over officially until Monday. I expect a few phone calls with complaints. All I can say is I don't know how some of these large corporations stay in business with the half witted way they do things.
MaryE - Glad your feeling better. Good luck on your ride this weekend. I would love to go horseback riding. Do horses have a weight limit? They might consider it animal abuse if got my big rear on a horse LOL.
Time for a rest. Another sunny day, not as hot as the last two. Watered the back garden, finished the last row of shingles on the gateway roof, started on framing the sidewall, drew up a working drawing for the steel fabrication of the main arbor gate and took the rhubarb pie out of the oven. The pie is a new idea, I followed a recipe to make it. Except used a Marie Callender frozen crust instead of making one (lazy) and is it ever flakey. (much better than mine would have been.) Will make some sauce with the remainder and pull a couple small bunches for dw to take to work tomorrow.
Sorry to hear of your neighbors passing Babs, 52 is so very young. Hope his widow is healing, it's a terrible loss.
Sarv, the Bank ordeal is so typical. All they can think about is how to get into your pocket more. The last commercial bank I dealt with opened our Safe Deposit box and removed everything before they found out they got the wrong box, and when my "play money" savings account dropped below their minimum they deducted a penalty fee. That was close to 20 years ago and after switching to a Credit Union I've never had a problem. Foo and fie on Banks and their thievery.
Meezer, we usually use Millstone. It may be a local brand,When the grocery stores have it on sale for 4 or 5 $ a pound I get as much as I can find coupons for, usually a 2# limit. But it does pay to buy an extra newspaper or two for extra coupons, and we freeze all but what we are using.
Better water the front yard before it gets too hot. Have a couple Poppies that opened up today.
.
Me again, taking a quick break.
Babs, your neighbor will be in my thoughts and prayers. I know she will feel such a profound loss, but she sure has a great neighbor to help her out. Send her here if she needs shoulders to cry on when you aren't available.
Suzieq, there are weight divisions for riders so that helps level the playing field a bit. No upper limits, but most of the endurance riders are in proportion to their height and also to the size of their horses. Really heavy types of horses do not do endurance well, so that has been an incentive for some riders to loose the pounds.
Got to get back to the projects now. ~~~~ Bye.
OOF, that's me plopping down.....none too gracefully.
Unloaded a pickup truck load of manure onto the gardens, not in the rain, thankfully.
I just want to add my prayers for your neighbor, Babs, tell her there's a whole bunch of us who are holding her up in prayer and sympathizing with her...she is lucky to have a neighbor like you.
Babs, you might tell you neighbor not to feel guilty over the relief she feels, it's normal. After a prolonged illness, knowing there is no hope, sometimes the survivor feels guilty because there is always the thought that they wished for the loved one to be out of pain, and that can translate into thinking you wished them dead. You try to comfort yourself with the thought that they don't hurt anymore, and then punish yourself for being happy they aren't here. Vicious circle.
Balvenie, that picture is gorgeous.
M5-there are several different versions of Maxwell House. I prefer it to a lot, since I drink a ton of coffee, it doesn't leave me with a burning in my stomach. Course, heaven help the idiot that tries to take away my caffeine.
Defoe-can you maybe get a used engine from a junkyard that has less miles? That is pretty common around here, so many are wrecked before they wear out.
Ok, gotta run to Home Depot and pick up some electrical breakers. One of our illustrious tenants got plastered and apparently thought he was an electrician, so he decided to play in the box attached to his meter, and proceeded to set it on fire, along with a patio umbrella next to it. Fortunately, we stopped it before the neighbors trailer went up as well. Gotta rebuild the box, and padlock the darn thing shut.
I will NOT visit the gardening section of Home Depot while I am there!
Dom
Robert, lovely poppy! I have tried unsuccessively to grow them for several years.
Whoops, meant to add it's been a busy day. Trying by long distance to get the right electric company, water, telephone, sattelite, a closing attorney, owner's title insurance, a home inspector, a radon test, taking care of ther powder post beetle problem, plus homeowner's insurance and quotes on auto insurance for 2 vehicles. Batting about 40%. Too boot, my sister was busy with a high school chum who now lives in Boise, Idaho so it was all up to me. Still have to make calls about cleaning the duct work and several other minor things. Whew!
Babs, T&P's for your neighbor. I know losing him must lay heavy on your heart too.
Well, it has been an eventful day, but first comments.
Molly, glad you don't have to go through the red tape, so it's finalize the plans, buy the supplies, and go to work. Whoopee.
dmc, I don't do day time chat, if I got on there, would probably waste a good part of the day. Come to think of it, haven't been on night chat for a long while. Wish I had just 1/2 load of manure, can you d-mail me some?
Sarv, your breakfast sounded just horrible. I couldn't look at something like that until afternoon. Sarv, I still am fortunate enough to bank at a small locally owned bank, where I am known by name.
101, sorry to hear of that mixed up visit. I know how you so wanted to visit (really visit) with them, and not feel that you were a stopping off place. If that is what they are doing, That Motel 6 would have the lights off!!. What a nice surprise with the plant delivery and coffee mug, bet that cheered you up. I have never heard of using pine cones as a critter deterent. Keep us posted to how that is working out.
tgif~~~~
M5, I laughed about the cats playing with the box. No need to spend $$ on cat toys when they are satisfied so easily. Thanks for letting us know Julie is alive and well.
susieq, we got some storms this afternoon. Nasty, wind and rain and temp dropped drastically. I have never dealt with big companies, just government. probably about the same.Shame they don't give IQ tests when applying for a job at either.
Babs, so sorry to hear about your neighbor. Tell your friend, to sneak on and we will help her heal. My prayers are with her.
Mary, did you find the dead stinky critter? Glad to hear the bug wasn't completely successful. Don't tell him, he has to bite harder next time. Good luck on your ride this weekend. Tell AP to take better care of DH, this time so you won't find him sick when you return.
Maria, glad that you credit DG in part with your healing.
Hope, good thought for the day.
Bal, I have been following pics in another forum of the arbor, beautiful work.
Sol, the mechanics have located another motor, with 60,000, for $850. So that will probably be the way we go.
Darius, Give the sister the list tomorrow and tell her to finish it!!
After the run to the post office to mail the packages, got home to a phone call from DMIL's Dr office. SIL had called him this morning because MIL was still in so much pain (back). When the Dr. office returned the call, no one answered, so I relayed his message. Get DMIL to hospital for a STAT blood work up. He thought that the ulcer had started to bleed again, and might need to be hospitalized. Well the good news, they went to have the blood tests, and they sent her home as the tests were okay. BABS, chime in on this issue as I am completely stumped. They told her to take the Vicodin 2 pills at a time for the back pain. I thought when you had ulcers, you avoided pain medicines. Am I missing something?
Since it was too wet to plant anything today, and the time out for the MIL issue, and helping SIL get her ready to go to the hospital, came home and was going to start the power washer, when the rains came. So that was out. Started seriously working on an itiniary for vacation, then had storm, wind, and rain, and turned so much colder. So just sat and worked on the vacation all afternoon. Well, tomorrow is another day, so will try to get the power washing done tomorrow. Oh, I did have a fun little side trip this morning. Since Mr. B's offspring is 6 weeks old and about to go to their new homes, went by and saw them. Darn, didn't get pictures. They are so very cute, wanted to bring the 2 that are left home with me. I may jump in the car either tonight or tomorrow morning and go get some pics so that I can show off my Granddogs!
Well, I need to do some dreaded paperwork, but will check in with you "guys" (gender neutral) later.
i went got nu. for my mail box . geraniums marked dow 50 a pot bought 2 small ones.. so i actually bought plants.lol... a whole 1.00 to me it was a biggee.. like kid i think... have good night all..
Twyla
M5, I tried the 8 O'Clock Columbian coffee. It was rated the highest in Consumer's Reports. It's wonderful! Do you have 8 O'Clock in your area? That was the brand that A&P originated. We get it all the time now, nothing else compares for the price. I ground it pretty fine for drip coffee makers but now that I am perking it on the stove, I use an average grind.
Finally got my new pump at my house and then the pump at work quit! Of course since I am staying in an old trailer at my work site, I had no way to bathe for 2 days. They got it back this afternoon, but it's full of rust right now. That old water heater is on it's last legs and when the water is disturbed, it gets rusty. I hope it clears up but I sure could use a nice leisurely shower tonight.
The critter rampaging through my gardens seems to have been abated for the moment by moth balls. We think it is a particularly destructive chipmunk.
You all put me to shame, I managed to run the vac, this morning, but between that and just a general pick up this was a no chores day. Had lunch with DIL, which was mainly to avoid making lunch for the DH and his DB, who are working on one or another of the cars that they expect to sell this summer. BIL is staying at DH's buddy's house at night, which relieved me of doing up the guest room. Which is messy due to piles of clothing waiting to be mended, donated or ironed
Have a good ride Mary, hope the weather is agreeable. It was cold and windy here almost all day but it warmed up around four. I lit up the grill and did a couple pounds of brats, handy to have them already cooked in the freezer.
Have golf tomorrow morning but we are scheduled late due to a tournament scheduled on our course, so that will take a chunk out of the middle of the day. DH took two vacation days so he could help his brother fix up the cars. Not saying a word about the time he couldn't spare for mine.
I used to get Eight O'clock at the A&P, and we have Millstone here too, so I might try both. Part of the problem may be that we use Decaf, which lacks the intensity O(or the kick) of regular.
WS, maybe you have a gopher? They are more destructive than chippies, who mostly like to chew on your wiring. I've seen a few here but not so far this year. There were a pair last year that dug tunnels around the front gardens. We kept putting rocks over their entrances.
Babs, you will be a treasure for your neighbor in her loss. So many people attend the funeral and then fade away, thinking they've fulfilled their duty. The aftermath is when people need the most support and a helping hand.
Bonnie, I swear you've had your hands full lately, Where are you heading on vacation? Somewhere with no phones, I hope! I wonder about the pain meds and the ulcer too...seems contradictory. My paper blizzard has piled up on the desk again, too, and I'm not planning on tackling it before next week. We definitely need granddogger pictures! They must be so cute.
~~~ to everyone, I'm too brain dead to type tonight, and Souky and Sammi are both trying to help...I'm not flattering myself I'm sure it's because the laptop emits heat.
See you in the morning...
Sheila
I feel I have to apologize, some of you to respond to everyone with lenghy posts, I think this is great and I love to read them, however, if I did that and have tried to do it, it takes me a long time with two finger typing and even longer to correct all the errors I made, I hope you understand, also my eyes are very bad and beginn to get very dry f I use them too long, everything becomes cloudy, as it is I can see only with one due to macular degeneration,
Wish you all a good night
Maria, it's difficult to respond to everyone, and I sometimes don't even try, we know each other well enough not to feel slighted if we don't see a specific mention of our names. We are just happy to hear from you, so don't feel you are being negligent. Give Samson a hug from us, and tell him how much your friends care about you and don't worry about how much you write.
Goodnight again....!
Sheila
When I typed the message above, it took forever to send, and I got that page not found message, thought I had lost the entire post, was so peeved, but I pulled my hand written notes out of the trash can, with the intent to recreate it, and for once was surprised that it got here. Now I can add a happy note to the end of the day.
Hope enjoy those petunias,wish I didn't get the urge to spend the $$ on plants.
Woodspirit, sorry about the pump going kaput, and going without a shower for 2 days. How much longer will you be away from home? Is the progress with the work going good? Did you see 101's post about putting out pine cones to deter the squirrels? Maybe that would work with your critter.
M5 You did work hard today, staying away from BIL is hard work, and you get to do that again tomorrow!! LOL. We had brats on the grill tonight too. Love them every once in awhile. We are going to Connecticut and Massachusettes June 19-24. Have plans to meet McCool and Maria during our trip. Gonna do some sightseeing, and then DTS has wanted to visit Foxwoods, a large casino complex in Connecticut, so we will do that too. Looking forward to it, as I have never been to that part of the country. Been to Pennsylvania, Maryland and New York, in the east. It would be easier to tell you the places that I have been than the places I have been. And especially looking forward to meeting McCool and Maria.
Maria, don't feel bad about not commenting to everybody. I understand your condition, and am heading in that direction myself. Today, looking at maps, and trying to plan an itiniary, I had to resort to a magnifying glass. Mine don't get too bad, unless I spend a lot of time working with paper, paying bills, balancing check books etc. So far the computer does not bother me. It is just that my sight is deterorating so that I keep having to have new glasses to make the print bigger.
Well gonna go check out some other forums, and may be back later to catch the late comers.
Hi folks,
I agree. Maria, don't feel bad. I'm not going to comment on all and I don't have a major eye problem.
I've peeked in several times today, but the time didn't avail itself to get caught up.
Went to aquafit, then straight to the church where we practice our handbell trio for 90 minutes. Then to the grocery store for a few items and home for lunch.
Last Kindermusik session today. DH took the kids, but I showed up before the end with food for the snack. On the way home, stopped at two carpet stores. Need to replace the indoor-outdoor carpeting in our screened porch. And to top the evening off, my handbell group had their year-end party - potluck dinner. Weight-watchers didn't do too well the last couple of days.
Anyway, am really out of time now; so I'll just say I read everything and wave to all of you posting or lurking. ~~~~~~~
Have a good night.
Ann
Evening all,
Maria, please don't apologize! I'm sure that no-one here is upset that you don't write a book every time you post! I wish that there was something that we could do to help you regain your eyesight, though. Loss of my sight and/or the use of my hands would be the hardest blow to me.
Bonnie, can't say much except that I hope that both your mother's and MIL's health improve and that the other things (like the car situation) that are adding to the burden are very temporary problems.
Robert, loved the picture of the poppy. I've started some from seed this year and so far they look pretty healthy in the greenhouse, but I saw somewhere that they don't bloom until the second year? If that's true then I'm destined never to get a blossom as they won't survive the winter here.
Babs, it's a good thing that you have such broad shoulders since I'm sure that your neighbor will be in great need of your support in the coming months. It's so good of you to help as you've been doing. I'll send all the positive thoughts I can muster in her direction.
M5, thanks for the Sammi fix. I'm afraid that Mister Slim is the only one of our three who is photogenic in the least. Oh yeah, that reminds me --- I was in the veggie garden today trying to figure out just where I'd put in the lettuce, onion, kale, and radish seeds when I suddenly felt something large and very furry rubbing against my leg. Guess who found the hole in the gate? Drat! Now I'm going to have to imprison him in the house every time I try to plant anything or have him rolling over it to get his tummy petted.
DH was off today except for a couple hours of volunteer work at the free clinic, so he wanted to run my store for most of the day. I managed to get the lime spread over most of the yard and emptied out a 25 gallon trash container that had somehow become full of water and decomposed vegetable matter. I still don't know how that happened as the cover was on it. I picked up some alfalfa pellets last week and am planning to make "alfalfa tea". I think I'm suitably prepared now because it couldn't possibly smell any worse than that stuff did. Phew! After all the gardening activity in the last couple of weeks, my elbow is reminding me that I messed it up last Spring. I may have to resort to that brace again this year.
I01, sorry your "visit" didn't turn out the way you'd hoped. Please keep us informed about the pinecone squirrel deterrant. I thought that they ate the seeds out of those things --- never would have thought that they would avoid them.
Darius, good luck with all that tying up of loose ends. Seems to me that your sister ought to get in there and deal with some of it too, especially since you've got such a short time in which to get it all accomplished.
~~~~~~~~to Molly, dmcd, suzieq, Casey, Mary (hope the ride is enjoyable this weekend), woodspirit, hope, tgif, sarv, Solitaire, and all our absent friends. Goodnight.
Edited to say "Hi, V-ann. You posted before I got mine sent and I didn't want to leave you out, so ~~~~to you as well."

Suzie, usually the temps are in the 90's with only a few days that spike into the hundreds in September, but it is not uncommon to have those few days strung together and for them to be 105 or so.
Defoe, I forget half of my doctor appointment dates and part of the time I have to ask DH which doctor it is that I have the appointment with. With my luck I would show up at the wrong doctors on the wrong day and time.
Babs, hugs, prayers and thoughts to your neighbor. So sorry to hear of the loss. I know you had become quite close to him also so a hug and prayer for you also.
Elaine, I hate it when people dont consider your schedule or feelings when making traveling plans. My DH has an aunt that expected a full blown dinner each time she came through but would leave almost immediately afterwards and stay at DH's sisters house. Then she made the comment she only ate at our house because SIL cant figure out how to boil water. So on the next visit we ordered pizza and haven't had that problem pop up again. So glad you received a present to brighten your mood and day. I agree that the sun always comes back after a storm of any kind...
Darius, {{{{hugs to you}}}} I hated having to do all that stuff. It was hard enough for me and I was extremely lucky to have Denise so close to help me with alot of it. Dont know what I would have done with out her there.
Wood, I hope you little critter has moved out. Never had a problem with those types of animals so I have filed the moth ball info for future reference.
Mary, good luck and stay safe on your ride.
Time for dinner and dessert. I am really only eating the dinner so I can face the kids when I tell them we are having banana splits for dessert.
I hope you all have a great night.....
Casey
Well I have checked the forums I normally check, and since it is early, gonna do some more vacation planning. Hope to have it all pulled together in a couple of days.
Hope all has a restful night.
