want to see pictures of any foilage with pink in it

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Kelly I think you will enjoy growing them !

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Kelly I had to order a CRYPTANTHUS MARION OPPENHEIMER ! Looks like Lali's up in her picture ~Jun 13, 2006
2:45 PM
First Pup is your's. I also have another one with deeper colors , red, pinks.. just starting to get a Pup you may have ! I also am going to be growing some pink variegated Epsica babies for you. I think Kitchen or bathroom window will be perfect. Or put some damp pebbles in bottom of tray or saucer, cups of water around plants, misting them they like this, also wick watering or matting will also increase Humidity. I'm sure you get your share there. Just in the Winter keep them about 65 degrees. You'll do great !

Roopville, GA(Zone 7b)

allison thanks so much!!!! you are so very generous to me!!!! i will make sure they stay warm in the winter. i will have to do extra measures in winter to keep humidity up as we have very dry heating...natural gas. to me natural gas dries my skin and hair way more than other heating. i will probably try pebble tray in winter as i love the way the pebble trays look. i am going to go look at that cryptanthus : ) thanks allison!

hugs,
kelly

Let me see if I can find the picture from where I ordered it !

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

The only problem Kelly is I keep seeing more plants I like !
Here is the info where I ordered
CRYPTANTHUS MARION OPPENHEIMER

http://www.glasshouseworks.com/trop-c3.html

52315 CRYPTANTHUS MARION OPPENHEIMER [HYB] BRO HP TGH $8.25 Leaves of rich sage green with very showy bright pink stripes in compact congested rosettes--unique and beautiful--which slowly but steadily form perfect hemispheres of color in the terrarium. Grows too slowly to compete with others; so locate carefully.

I don't grow anything in a terraium ..many ways to grow them out of them !

allison will you look at this link and see if this is the same as the one i have. i have one cryptanthus that i got at wal-mart in april and didn't even know what it was at the time. mine has lost some color since the picture. i don't know whats wrong with it. i will take an updated picture today.

kelly

Kelly,
They lose color if they're not getting enough light...once I moved mine the color returned. See if that helps!! BTW...not direct light though as I've been told that isn't good either.
Lorry's a good info source on those

it is on my plant stand right at a french door with glass. maybe i will put it in terrarium under flourscent light and see how that works. thanks so much for the help!

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Kelly,
I only know a little about these...have those 2 that I showed in your previous thread. Chris_Lorry is the one I go to w/questions regarding them...she has quite a few of these pretties!

Powder Springs, GA(Zone 7b)

The big 3 are good places to get earth stars. After my last order to GHW took almost 3 months, I will go out of my way to NOT order from them.

Here is a good site (at least the one time I ordered from them a few years back).

kelly

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Agree...that dark one is awesome!! BTW who/what is GHW

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Kelly is your's getting burning sunlight ? I don't think it would like this. Mine grow like everything else in same soil-less mix on natural light stand with Gesneraids.
The one I ordered they said to hot to ship from Ohio ?
Sounds odd to me ?

Roopville, GA(Zone 7b)

does sound odd doesn't it. i dont think its getting to much light i am not sure. i have moved it to see if it is the location.

This is Neoregelia Fireball
She is in a 4 inch pot and solid red. She likes full sun. If she does not get full sun she can turn red and pink..or even all green if she does not get enough light.

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Wow. She is so beautiful. I just love the color.

Jesse

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

THanks Jesse . I know you would love them and their prices are good too !

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Well I have been looking at them and Fireball is a definite. I also like Royal Pink and Granada. And I also like Zoe. I don't know what to do with all of these things that I like. I have been trying to stick to one thing but that is getting too hard. But they are all from the same family so that is one thing. Hehe I was going to just start getting episcias and streps but now I'm in love with these Neoregelia.

Jesse

Roopville, GA(Zone 7b)

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Jesse these are so colorful and fun and easy to grow ! You can grow them inside or out too.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Jesse I like the ones your looking at also ! And did you see Zoe comes with babies !Atleast two offsets it says ! WOW I need this one also.

I put my three on our deck/ramp and they look lonly. Must get more.

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I think I might have to order a couple of things from there. I just hear them calling my name. Plus I need to buy myself something because it has been a hard day. They are all so pretty.

Jesse

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Sounds good to me Jesse. And you can't beat the beauty and the price and fast shipping go for it I can tell you you'll be crazy about them ! Even my husband like them .

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

How much was the shipping? You did it over night didn't you?

Jesse

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Their web sight said plants shipped most often within 1-2 days.
I had two good size plants in 4 inch pots, and a plant 12x12 in 6 inch pot.
And shipping was only $11.00 for all three. The fast shipping and low shipping cost for such big plants was wonderful ! I have paid a lot more for smaller plants that took weeks. When I bought three tiny 2.5 inch begonias shipping was $10.00 so $11.00 for large potted plants is cheap. They go by your zip code. I did not ask for over night this was a super surprise. And I would have never expected it for this cheap prices. But makes sense for plants keeps them in better condition. The box was not hot as the Fed-Ex truck was air conditioned !
DID you see these ? I did not until after I placed my order. Their so cute and with a plant !
Mini Clay Animals

Our Price $3.95

Features: Miniture hand painted clay animal pot w/ionantha air plant. Choose from whale, seal, fish, seal, panda, hippo, or rabbit. Measures 2"x3"

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

OMG. They are so cute. Now I know what to get the neighboorhood kids that want some plants. I will get them each one of these. I just love them. Thanks for calling my attention to them.

Jesse

Roopville, GA(Zone 7b)

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

How about purple? Here's Persian Shield finally filling out a bit.

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Now that is a plant that I have wanted forever and I cannot find it anywhere here. Where did you get yours at?

Thanks,
Jesse

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

eBay had them the cheapest...that's where I got mine from. When I googled them...there were a couple of nurseries that carried them but they were higher in cost. If these can be rooted by cuttings...when mine gets a bit bigger (sure that will happen rapidly now that it's outside) I'd be happy to share a cutting with you!!

Lilesville, NC(Zone 7b)

hello, I to have been looking for this plant....

and found this on ebay, is the same plant?

Char,
That looks like the same plant...they just took the pic, unfortunately, in the shade. They don't like full sun...but having them in good light shows off their colors better.
