Another note about the coffee mugs

As of now almost all replacement mugs have been shipped out, so if you were expecting a replacement then you should get it later this week.

Those with 3 or more mugs that had to be shipped, will not receive it until a bit later. I haven't packaged those up yet as I am out of packaging material.

I'm also sorry to say that we're no longer accepting orders for mugs. I still have about 50 left and am planning to sell them only locally at the Texas roundup in November. I'm sorry for that news and I know it's disappoiting to those still wanting to buy one, but I just can't trust my local post office or my own packaging skills. I'm a computer software developer, not a shipping manager.

Today my perfect replacements arrived - nestled happily in the well-cushioned, snug little box. Thank you for going the extra mile! I'll test one for leaks first thing tomorrow. :)

Thanks! :-)

Lutz, FL(Zone 9b)

Maybe incentive to get to the roundup!! Any news on the RU date yet?

Early November is what it is tentatively looking like!

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Dave I received my replacement yesterday and it arrived safe and sound. Thanks a bunch.

Linda

Good news! Thanks!

I'm sad :( Now I have to wait 2-3 years? What if I can't remember? Retirement is creeping up on me! I surely do want a mug... Do you think you might find a vendor who would ship from his factory? beg beg beg...

Missouri City, TX

Early November, eh?
Please not on Saturday, the 4th - that is the opening weekend of Wurstfest.
I was too new to the group to know enough to buy a couple this spring.
Looking forward to seeing even more DG'ers then.

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

Could I just SEE a picture of mug to know what I'm missing?

Also, what the "roundup?" I live in Houston, and I don't think I that far from Bryan, Texas, so I might be able to go. Send details, somebody.

Sumner, WA(Zone 8a)

What you're missing:

Hehe. I've even looked on eBay to see if anyone is auctioning theirs off for a profit. Nada. Oh well.

comebychance, NL(Zone 5b)

Dave the mug that was sent to me was just fine and it traveled all the way to canada. And knowing canadian post thay were nun to gentle with it but it got here safe and sound nothing wrong with your packing skills.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Ebay.....mmmm...
Hey Dave, there's a way to re-coop some of your lost revenue from the breakage! Looks like so many want them, they would pay more than the set price......??? You could put a few out there with a starting price of $10 each and try it. The bidder pays all the shipping and insurance to cover breakage! I think it would work!

You could call the auction D-bay

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

Dave,
You can DO this. Just wrap those puppies in some newspaper and stuff the boxes with shredded newspaper. I work in an office building and will send you all the shredded paper you ever think you will need.
C'mon.

Those cups are PRICELESS! I want one.

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5b)

I would probably order 5 or 6 at least.

I'll think about it, but there are still people waiting for mugs (and replacement mugs) and I want to get ALL people taken care of first before I even consider offering them again.

dave

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

How come you didn't order more than what you did? We have grown A LOT since the first batch you offered and you should have known they'd be a hot item.

I suspect most new folks don't even know there's a tee shirt available.

We would have had plenty for everyone if I hadn't of had to replace 1/4 of them due to breakages... As it is I have lost a substantial amount of money on this thing and I'm not excited about doing it further.

dave

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

I'm a COFFEE drinker. I have enough T-Shirts!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Yeah, Dave... I hear ya about the loss. The time consumed must have been worse.

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Dave, how about just opening a Cafe Press store for Dave's gear! I'm pretty sure they ship for you, and you could have T-Shirts, Mugs, Hats, Aprons etc. You get to pick!

Just a thought

p.s. my mugs arrived in perfect shape. Thank you!

-South Central-, IL(Zone 6a)

Dave, I don't know the story about the breakage, but if it was not normal wear and tear and they broke, the vendor 'should' work with you on that! You shouldn't be out any $$ for unusual wear and tear

They broke in shipping per my insufficient packaging.

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

c'MON dAVE,
We've taught you how to pack!

Try it again, PLEASE!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Dave, I am sorry you ended up with that many having to be replaced! I understand now why you are reluctant to go any further.
When I sold items on Ebay, I bought the bubblewrap in bulk on Ebay too. It is a must for me when you have breakables. Newspaper would allow too much shifting.
You guys from Houston and MS need to make the RU in November! Nothing like meeting Dave and Trish in person and visiting all day with fellow DGers! We had a blast at the last one!

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

Sheila,
I'm still waiting for someone to explain about the RU? I'm a newbie.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh sorry Gymgirl!! I guess we all thought someone else would chime in.
I will send you a D-Mail (email on Dave's Garden site) and give you the link to several of the previous Round Ups that have happened. People have posted a lot of pictures and it will help you put faces with the ID's on DG too. In the local areas we get together for "plant swaps" they aren't usually very large or long. We sign up to bring a snack and etc. At the Round ups they are usually an all day affair, and a lot more people attend, some stay overnight. There is a large planned meal since it is a lengthy get-together. At the College Station one Dave had us donate door prizes too. We brought snacks, and he also provided a meal for everyone. A few of us met for breakfast ahead of time and then later that night several of us had dinner together. It was a great day! Hope you can make a few and meet others that you come to know online. Watch for the d-mail.
Sheila

From my house to College Station it is 599 miles, yahoomaps-wise... That's a long ways to go!

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

I have two replacements coming; amazing that the third one did not break. I do understand Dave not wanting to do more of this. Packing mugs would not be an enjoyable thing.

Thanks again, Dave

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Oh Goodness....I can't imagine, after doing two co-ops I would never want to try to pack something that is breakable. Way too much work!

Again Dave, Thanks!

Cambria, CA(Zone 10a)

My two arrived in great shape and are being enjoyed by my guests in my garden, the perfect setting for them. Everyone loves them, thanks Dave.
